Chapter 14

Much to Savvy's disappointment, I end up in a pair of jeans and my favorite Starry Night tee. I've got my hair in a loose ponytail and with her approval, some light makeup. She thinks I should go all out but I keep reminding her that this is only dinner and I'm in appropriate dinner-wear.

Savvy keeps rolling her eyes.

The address Alex sent me has us pulling up to a small square house with a long, cracked driveway. We park on the street and Savvy hooks her elbow in mine. "Cannot believe we're hanging out with Alex Wolf and hot band friend. Did you think this would happen? Like, ever? Because I didn't." I can feel her smile in my ear. "And I am so winning this bet."

"It's not like that."

"HA."

"Can you at least pretend to be normal about this?" I stop suddenly, noticing movement in the open garage ahead. "I totally forgot to tell you - Corey? The hot band friend? He goes to Grant and knows who you are. Got all excited you were coming."

She winces. Not a good sign.

"Is he cute?"
