RUNAWAY BRIDE (2)

While Ares waited for Eleanor to finish dressing, he paced around the room, his unease growing with each passing moment. The memory of her terror-stricken eyes and desperate grasp lingered, unsettling him deeply.

He wanted to know the source of her nightmare, but her reluctance to share only fueled his frustration. He clenched his fists, resisting the urge to rake his perfectly styled hair, and drew a deep breath to calm himself.

"Ares?" Eleanor suddenly called, her voice heavy with hesitance.

Ares' eyes snapped towards the door. "Are you done, Little Bird?" he asked, his voice calm and soothing, the fleeting anger in his eyes dissipating instantly.

Eleanor smiled nervously, her words tumbling out in a soft mumble. "I... uh... need help with the back lace."
