BETRAYAL

Chapter one

Joy sat on her tiny bed. Her hands tightly crossed in her chest hugging herself as tears continuously fell from her now extremely red eyes onto her clothes. She couldn't believe it. Just minutes ago, she was walking on top of the world. She had just won the beauty pageant competition in her campus. It had been a tough competition considering that her competitors were the most influential and rich famous beauty queens in their school. In fact, if it was about riches, she was the least qualified candidate. But fate can turn things around. She was well known for least things such as debating or researching historical things. Most of her speeches were full of motivational quotes. She was the Shakespeare with a touch of Dr. martin king junior. In short, she was super intelligent. For that she became the envy of most students. She was a student pursuing law and criminology. She was excellent in reasoning and solving cases as the given by the lecturer. She was always punctual and sat at the front row in lectures actively participating. The lecturers at times gave her the platform to explain to the other students about different topics. That way she earned both friends and enemies both guys and ladies. The lecturers were proud of her and she was always a reference for hard work.

Ivy and Vida were her best friends. They stayed in the same hostel and shared so much together. They however were doing different courses. Ivy and Vida were economic students and so they went to different classes with joy.

Being third year students was awesome to the three. It felt so good counting on the remaining year they were spending in school and so they were having the time of their lives. Joy was the most cheerful girl in school. She barely got mad at anyone.

The beauty pageant was just one of the things that joy wanted to try out, but just for mere fun. She had been so much into studying. The library was the place she mostly spent her time when she was not in class. She had a favorite sport in the library where she sat all the time. It directly faced the enormous books of law and research. She could not get enough of the voluminous books of knowledge.

Today she was relieving what had just happened to her. The terrible experience was cutting her heart to tiny pieces. She slowly slid into the bed and cried the more. Her friends were nowhere to be found.

No matter how much she tried to clean herself she couldn't help but feel dirty. Those savages had taken advantage of her. They had robbed her of her dignity and innocence. How could someone think of doing such a thing? The worst thing is that she didn't know any of them. They had masks when she was kidnapped after the pageant event had come to an end. She was supposed to be celebrating but now here she was. In the most despicable state. How was she supposed to now face everything? She did not see a future she had so much worked so hard for. The mere thought of this brought fresh tears to the already teary face.
