Chapter 12 - Nate is Furious

Nate awoke with a start. He was alone. Last night was memorable, he felt 

he had connected with Elle on a level they had not reached before, so where 

was she?

"Elle?" No response.

"MYK!" Nate bellowed as he left the bedroom and headed to the living room.

"Sir?"

"Where is Elle?" Nate's face was brimming with anger.

Myk looked confused.

"Sir, she left early to head to the office."

"Why would she go to the office on a Saturday when we have plans?" Nate 

muttered.

He pulled out his cell and dialled her number.

"The caller you have dialled is out of cellular range or is turned off, please try 

again later."

Nate pulled up the surveillance camera for the office and checked the 

footage.

"She hasn't been there. Are you sure she said the office? What was she 

wearing?"

"Yes sir Office, a pair of navy blue jeans, grey halter, and sneakers."

Nare went back to the bedroom and it's only then he realise some of her 

things were gone.

"She left me? Why would she lie about where she was going?"

Myk felt awful for Nate. 

"I'm sorry sir. I will ask around."

"NO!" Nate barked. "If she wants to leave, let her, I won't force her to stay."

Nate wheeled his chair back to his bedroom and slammed the door so hard 

all the ornaments and photos lining the wall fell to the floor. Myk felt the world 

shift.

Several weeks later.

"Sir, there is a doctor on the line for Elle, would you like to take the 

message?"

Nate nodded and Kim transferred the call. Since Elle left him, he had been 

going through the motions. Working like a jerk was his life now. She didn't 

want him, he would go back to the grindstone. To hell with her then!

Nate heard the phone ring, and he answered it.

"Nate here."

"Mr. Tondale, this is Dr. Amari Camden…"

"Is Elle okay? Is she with you? Is she hurt?"

"Slow down son. She came to see me and she missed her 2 week check 

up. She has you listed as her ICE and I called her cell and got no answer. 

Can you remind her to come see me?"

"Elle was sick?"

"Sick in a way yes and as her ICE I can inform you, but you need to bring her 

in."

"What's wrong with her Dr. Camden?"

"She is pregnant Mr. Tondale. Are you the father?"

"Dr. Camden, Elle left our home weeks ago and she has not returned and 

now that I know why she left, I need to find her and when I do, I will bring her 

to you."

"That's fine, good luck, she is a nice girl."

"Nice doesn't even cut it, thank you."

As Nate hung up the phone, his blood began to boil. She was pregnant with 

his baby. Wait, was it his? Is that why she left? Was she pregnant with 

another man's child? Nate roared and swiped his hand and everything on his 

desk was scattered to the floor. He stood up and surprised himself but when 

his legs began to shake he fell backwards but as he fell he missed the chair 

and fell to the floor.

Nate was furious. His baby was cooking in Elle's body and she left him?

"MYK!" Nate bellowed.

Myk looked at Kim and frowned. 

"You better go." Kim said, she knew her boss's fury and he would be angry 

until whatever plagued him was resolved. Myk opened the door to Nate's 

office and her heart hurt. Nate was sitting on the floor behind his desk with 

his head in his hands.

"Nate, what's wrong?" She was definitely worried.

"My baby."

"We will find her sir, we haven't stopped looking."

"No Myk, she is pregnant. Was she cheating on me? Is the baby another 

man's? Is that why she left me? Doesn't she love me anymore? She said 

she loved me, but instead of talking to me she left me? Why would she do 

this to us?" Nate's voice was filled with so much pain Myk wanted to cry.

No. Not Elle, she loved him too much to let another man touch her, 

something was wrong. Myk helped Nate back into his chair and watched as 

the tears fell from his eyes. Gosh he was really hurting.

"Sir, Elle would never cheat on you, hold on to that. Let me call in some 

more favours, we will find her." Myk left.
