1- new friends

Jessica was a high schooler, well into her junior year. Being placed in a monolingual Spanish classroom with nothing but sophomores was no surprise to her, she didn't like Spanish and obviously- Spanish did not like her.

She spent the first month in that class sitting in the back of the room, avoiding eye contact with her neighbors and teacher, choosing not to ask questions nor participate. She may not have been able to speak Spanish, but she grew up in a bilingual household, she obviously could hold a conversation.

Jessica your typical girl. She had a nice hourglass body shape, without putting in the effort. She was 5'5 and had long, dark brown wavy, yet messy, hair. She looked depressed most of the time, it was rare when people saw her laugh or smile. The back half of her walk-in closet looked like a forever 21 store, while the other looked like hot topic, which wasn't very surprising either.

She didn't like showing her figure, but when she did, all attention was on her- but all she thought of herself was just a black sheep in society itself.

As Jess sat in the back of the class, taking down all of the notes, she couldn't help but think of her boyfriend, Tyler. He was only two inches taller than her and he never kept himself clean. Sometimes, she hated to feel embarrassed being with him in public.

He's always in 3 year old joggers, a simple, yet very big t shirt, 2 jackets and he NEVER fixed his hair. It would constantly look like a raccoon lived in there.

She cringed just thinking of the argument they had the night before. Nothing new, just him accusing her of either cheating or working too much. She felt like she was trapped in an endless black hole.

She shook her head and smiled, "To hell with that! I've taken 7 years of this. Today will be a me day!" She thought.

Her neighbor noticed her smile, entranced by how her smile made him feel warm inside. 'I need to talk to her.' He thought, completely unaware that he was smiling as he stared.

Jess looked at him with a weird face, slowly turning her head like a confused puppy, "Whatcha smiling at?"

"Your smile"

Blushing immensely, she covered her face with her black oversized hoodie, "Wha- there's nothing about my smile... it's not special..." she whispered.

"Yeah, well.. this is the first time I've seen it. Why do you say it's not special?" He whispered back, putting his pencil on the desk to rest his chin on his hand.

"Uhm.. well.." she started, "Damon was your name, right?"

"yeah, Jess, right?" Damon said with a simple smirk.

"Yes.." she said in a shy tone, "It's nice to meet you."
