A Tragedy. Birth of Hope Mikaelson and Zach Lorenzo Salvatore

Klaus laughed.

"Caroline, love.." Klaus told her, "When are you coming? Everyone's waiting!"

She smiled.

"I'll be back...Soon." She smiled. "Okay, I have to go, send me a picture of the baby when she comes."

He smiled.

"Okay…"

Her phone beeped, and she was gone. He smiled.

"Stefan...Katherine is giving birth to a baby Salvatore." She held Stefan's face. "You have to turn it on, so you can see him."

Caroline took a knife from her pocket. She jabbed it in his hand.

"Feel that?" She looked in his eyes, "What if someone does it to your baby?"

"I don't care!" He growled.

"Caroline!"

She sighed,

"I'll be back!" She told Stefan, and as she went upstairs, she didn't lock the door.

"Enzo…" Caroline smiled at him, "How have you been?"

"Great!" Enzo looked at her, "How is your Stefan project?"

"Okay..I guess, he just isn't….." She told Enzo, she clenched her jaw. Took a deep breath, and changed the topic. "Now, where is Bonnie?"

"Elena is parking the car." He said, "Bonnie is with her."

"Where did you go, Caroline?" Bonnie entered the house, "I have seen you since last week!"

"It's Stefan ....Apparently, he is being a colossal jerk!" She shouted the last two words loudly, so that Stefan would hear her.

"So, we were thinking for going shopping for bridesmai...." Bonnie started to say.

"One minute, love." Enzo stopped her, "I hear someone…"

They heard pounding.

"What's that?" Elena asked.

"I think it's Stefan." Enzo said,

Caroline looked horrified. Stefan Salvatore appeared out of the door. He went towards the main doors. Caroline zoomed towards him. He hit Caroline sharply. Even though he was on vervain, he was strong. Considering he had almost one and a half century head start from Caroline. She fell into the bookshelf across the room. She immediately stood up straight.

"Get out of the way!" Enzo tried to stop him.

Stefan Salvatore didn't look twice.

He jammed his hand into Enzo's chest, and before anyone could do anything, Stefan held his heart out. No one had seen it coming.

Bonnie screamed.

"NO!!"

Caroline felt her knees weaken. She zoomed towards Stefan, she snapped his neck. Bonnie Bennett took out a syringe from her pocket, she had the cure for Damon. That's why they had come to the Salvatore House.

She put it in Stefan Salvatore's cold body. She had tears in her eyes.

"NO!" Elena Gilbert looked horrified. She screamed.

"What did you do?" Caroline took a step back.

"Stefan is now human!" Bonnie Bennett stood up, tears dropped from her eyes.

"But wasn't that for Damon." Caroline asked hoarsely.

"It was for Damon." Elena replied equally hoarsely. "What did you do, Bonnie?"

"I did what I had to do." Bonnie murmured through tears, "Before more people died."

She felt weak at the knees, she fell down, she fondled Enzo's hair.

"I loved you...Enzo." She murmured. Tears dropped on Enzo's face.

Elena Gilbert ran outside, her face streaked with tears as well. She couldn't believe Bonnie had taken the cure from her, something she had come to give to Damon Salvatore, today….

She cried softly as she ran out. Caroline looked from Elena to Bonnie. She decided Bonnie needed her more than Elena. She sat beside Bonnie.

"I am sorry, I am so sorry!" Bonnie held on to Caroline Forbes, and sobbed softly. "I am sorry…."

Tears fell from Caroline's eyes and got absorbed in Bonnie's shirt. Bonnie Bennett didn't just lose a fiancé, Caroline Forbes lost a friend.

Stefan woke up after a few hours. He felt different. He was human.

Bonnie Bennett had gone before Stefan woke up, she couldn't face him.

"Stefan…" Caroline stood in front of him. "Wake up…"

He sat up.

"The hospital called." She told him. "Get up! We have to go!"

She was stiff and a little angry. Actually, she was a lot angry, she was blaming herself for reducing the vervain.

"Caroline….Did I?" He stuttered, "Did I really do that? I did….Please, tell me I didn't!"

"You killed Enzo, Stefan!"

She laughed a little, mockingly. She shook her head.

"You killed Enzo!"

"Please…" Stefan scrambled up to his feet, "No...I didn't mean...I am…"

He was crying.

"Please…" He held his hands together, he begged Caroline. "Forgive me….Please!"

He was crying. Caroline melted, Enzo was her friend, but so was Stefan. She held his hands.

"Me?" She told him, "Tell Bonnie that."

"I...I'm…." Stefan couldn't get the words out. She sat down on the ground with him.

"I love you, Stefan! And I am furious." She told him, "But you have to go to the hospital."

"Caroline…?" He whimpered.

"Let's Stefan!" She shouted, "Your son is waiting for you!"

Stefan nodded softly, his face teared, Caroline Forbes took Stefan towards the car, and started it up.

"Start making up for the life you have taken," Caroline told him, "By being there for the one that has just begun."

He nodded again.

Caroline drove to the Mystic Falls Hospital. They came outside, Caroline took Stefan inside.

"Katherine Pierce." Caroline told the receptionist. "We are here for the Pierce-Salvatore Baby?"

She told her,

"Can we see the baby?" She asked.

"The nursery…" The receptionist told her, "Right down the corridor, take a left."

Caroline thanked her, and they headed down.

Caroline stopped in front of the window, her face was stuck on the window, Stefan peered in.

"There he is!" She pointed to a baby.

Tears rolled down Stefan's face. Caroline held his arm. She smiled.

Stefan, Katherine, Damon and Caroline were in the Salvatore Living room,

Stefan was holding the baby.

"Did you settle on a name?" Caroline asked.

"No….not yet." Stefan smiled,

"You should call him Zach." Damon said quietly. "Zach Salvatore."

Stefan looked surprised, Caroline nodded. Katherine didn't say anything. Lately, she felt extremely tired, she felt she was dying.

"Zach Lorenzo Salvatore." Stefan said softly. Caroline smiled.It was the Salvatore guilt, she could feel it. Her phone rang,

"Hello," She smiled, "Excuse me…"

She told everyone, and left the room.

"When are you coming?" Klaus asked impatiently. "Home, Come home...Love!"

"This is my home too, Klaus." She sighed, "I know, I miss you too."

"Then, come back!"

"I can't….there is so much going on here!" She confessed, "I don't think I can come right now."

She told Klaus.

"Okay…" he told her, "Wait for some kind of surprise, love."

"Thank you for the warning," She laughed. "How's the baby? She asked, "Do you have a name?"

"Hope." Klaus said, "Hope Andrea Mikaelson."

"Well, we'll just hope that she doesn't become you!"

Klaus laughed.

"You have to see her, love." Klaus replied. "She looks like Hayley, but the twinkle in the devil's eye….it's all me."

It was Caroline's turn to laugh.

"I'll see if I can catch the plane after two weeks."

"Two weeks!" Klaus yelped,

"Yes…." Caroline said patiently, "I have to be here for two weeks."

Klaus Mikaelson had gotten used to her in so little time, that he just couldn't wait that long.
