13 Paid Off

"Light... its no use for me anymore." Avan tossed the giant hulking sword on the ground and it dug itself to the ground with its sheer weight. "That's the 10th one..."

Live by the sword, that's what he has been living for the past few days. At first when he was a child, he grabbed a dagger as he was shopping with Vivian. He liked it so much that he asked Vivian to buy it for him and she did.

He went out to train and swung the sword a couple of times. At first it was heavy for a child of four years old. But he slowly got used to it and tossed it away. And then came followed a sword.

He was going to the library and guards were standing in front of it with their fully plated armor and swords placed in their sheaths. He went to the barracks of the soldiers and stole a sword.

It was heavy, crude and thick. For an adult, it was something that can be used and swung like a whip. Fast, and barely could be seen by the eyes. But for Avan, it was a weapon of power and strength. It was a weapon that he couldn't wield.

It was as if he's trying to relive his days from his old past. The art of struggling and never getting ahead of himself.

First it was a dagger, then a sword, then it became a claymore... different types of great swords. He was getting stronger and stronger. Both him and his body. Unlocking mana that his body can handle slowly but surely.

The weapon that he was swinging was a whopping weight of a fifty kilograms. It was far too much for a normal soldier as they value speed over power. But for Avan, it was all about power.

"It seems that I need to order a custom one. Its too light." Avan sat down on the ground and focused on the spell that he was chanting, "Cleanse." His exhaustion was suddenly getting removed from his body and his breaths were returning to normal.

He closed his eyes and in his mind, he can visualize the system that was inside of his mind. "System, that's what I call this... thing that's in front of me. It was pretty difficult at first to comprehend but I've gotten used to it now. There's a lot of functions but most of it are something that I don't need. But apparently... this is a gift from my father.

I still don't understand why he'd give me this but I guess this is one part of why I'm in this situation... I still need his answers. And all he has left is this.

A system, putting in my status and everything that it knows about me. My items, what they do, my magic spells and so much more that will help me in the long run."

Avan stood up and then said, "Summon: Skeleton, magic details."

[Summons an undead skeleton. Its durability (70% Mana) and Damage (30% Mana) will be factored by the mana input used in the activation of this spell. The skeleton lasts for 5 hours. If this is used on a corpse, the skeleton will have (2x) more status gain and will be permanent.

Base Stats: 100 HP / 0 MP]

"Avan!" Vivian suddenly shouted.

"Oh, good morning Vivian." Avan replied as he closed the system in front of him.

"..." Vivian just stared at Avan for a couple of seconds.

"Vivian?"

"Ah, yes sorry. But Avan, isn't your body getting more amazing every time I see it?"

"Please don't say it like that when its easily misunderstood."

"But its true though! I can't believe that you're growing up incredibly quickly. You've earned it all Avan. Your hard work's paying off."

"..." Avan nearly let out a tear as he heard those words. Paid off, the words that he has been looking for in his previous life. And it all finally bore fruit. "Yes." The only thing he could respond.

"Let's go inside and you go wash up and eat. We don't want you to be late for your first class."
