Chapter 9

Powder had quickly moved from creating machines and contraptions out of pressure and gears to figuring out the science and art of explosions.

Harry unfortunately went with her in this self-destructive behavior.

Their reasoning behind this was as such; Powder wanted to learn how to use explosives to fight so she can be like her sister, who is learning to box with Vander. Harry on the other hand is only doing it to help his friend, due to him already making something that he can fight with.

Thankfully in the month since this started, they only played with igniting the reactive green liquid that was used to power everything in Undercity. This created small pops normally, that was until Harry decided to fill one of the small pneumatic presses with the liquid and ignite it.

Surprisingly the press did not explode into a fireball of high-pressure destruction.

Instead, all the force of the highly compressed liquid blew out the end of the tube, sending out a deafening crack along with the tube's end at such speeds that it went straight through the stone floor leaving a dark, cracked hole of unknown depth.

"That was awesome! We have to do that again." Screamed a gleeful Powder.

Harry stared at the hole in shock, he was amazed that it caused such destruction and sound.

Powder doesn't even wait; she just instantly gets to recreating it.

Harry suddenly grows weary; he had a bad feeling, but he couldn't understand why.

The place they were in currently was the same one as Junker, which was just a minute walk away from the pub. Close enough for the loud crack to be easily heard.

It doesn't take long for knocking to be heard at the door, stopping Powder's gleeful reconstruction of the explosion.

Whoever on the other side doesn't even wait, they just open the door and walk in.

Obviously, it was Petunia. She stomps over to them and takes in the view of the obvious traces of explosions that scattered their testing ground.

"I remember distinctly telling you both to not play with explosions, now what exactly are you two doing here?" Petunia asks even though she already knows the answer.

Powder looks down at the ground trying to figure out how to fib their way out of this.

Harry on the other hand has already given up on lying that they haven't played with explosives, instead switched to his backup plan.

"I don't remember you telling us we couldn't." Harry says stubbornly.

Petunia looks down at him for a few seconds with a judging parental glare.

Harry, already feeling the pressure of Petunia's strongest attack starts fidgeting.

Powder decides to draw some fire, "We were only making small ones."

In response Petunia looks over at the still soldering tube strapped to a vice on the table along with the cracks and hole in the ground beneath it.

"That doesn't look small," she scoffs.

Harry scratches at his head, "that was an accident."

A single eyebrow raised was her response.

"Yeah, and with this and Harry's glove we can finally be allowed to go along with Vander, Vi and the others on their jobs!" Powder yells with conviction.

Petunia sighs and sits down on one knee Infront of the now slightly crying Powder, "there, there. You will be able to go out with them when you grow up, you don't need something like this now," She coos softly.

"Just wait till your ten and then you might be able to, that's when Vander started teaching Violet boxing, and took her on one of his small jobs.

"Really?"

Petunia nods with an easy smile. Next second, she turns to Harry and asks, "also, what was that about a glove?"

Harry's face turns sour and proceeds to slowly walk over to one of the other benches in the room.

He pulls up an ugly pair of dark red leather gloves. Each one had strapped to them copper wire connected to a small box with a vat of the green liquid attached.

"It's a tazer-glove. I made sure it doesn't give too big a shock with a resistor so it should be safe to use." He spouts off while softly stroking the gloves.

"Didn't I also tell you not to play with electricity anymore?" Petunia groans out in defeat. Even with her history of controlling them, she had lost a lot of it as they grew up.

Harry sticks his tongue out at her showing his maturity.

"You know I'm only looking out for you both," Petunia finally has enough and pulls the pity card.

Harry and Powder both look down feeling like they disappointed her.

"Fine, I will allow you both to continue doing this only if you stick to making smoke explosives." Petunia plays the highroad. "And you, Harry, will attach those resistor thingies to every single one of your electricity generators."

Both kids quickly start jumping around celebrating.

"Now kids, it's too late today for you both to continue this stuff. Come back with me to The Last Drop."

"Yes, Aunt Petunia," they both chorus.

Both Vi and Powder had adopted Harry's name for Petunia. Feeling weird with the idea of calling Petunia mum, they both decided that Harry's name for her was best.

They all got to the pub and found it busy as usual. Harry looks throughout it and frowns slightly.

"Is Dudley here today?" Harry asks still looking for his bother/cousin.

Petunia shakes her head, "No, he's with Benzo as usual."

Surprisingly, Dudley had completely attached himself to Benzo. It was mainly to do with his slight similarities with Dudley's father, which only really went as far as his size, weight, and the fact that Benzo was a form of retailer like Vernon.

Petunia didn't really try to stop it because, even though she loved Vernon. She knew she fell into love with him to help her separate herself from her sister. So, she could still see Vernon's many flaws for what they were, flaws.

If she had to be honest, she rather likes the fact that Dudley is taking after Benzo rather than Vernon. But he spent most of his time now in Benzo's shop with Ekko.

Harry and Powder sat themselves down at the counter and Petunia poured them drinks. the day slowly passed and they turned in for the night.

A small chapter today, I want to settle everything down before anything bad happens so I'm trying to make it semi slice of life for these small chapters. If you don't like this, please say so. It would be greatly appreciated.
