Ben 10: The Morningstar

Michael Morningstar, also known as Darkstar, was a powerful and extremely talented young man with a prestigious background who was also a fervent nemesis of the legendary Benjamin Tennyson, the wielder of the Omnitrix and savior of the universe. He was a young man who had unlimited potential but failed each time in his endeavours, just because he didn't have the wisdom and the cunning to use what he inherited due to his heritage. A young man who became blindsided by his crippling need for vengeance and his lust for power, sending him tunneling down an endless pit of failure and disappointment. A young man who despite his best efforts, failed to leave any significant mark in the universe or even his own small world for that matter while his rivals and enemies left their indelible vestiges across the universe. A young man destined to be forgotten... ...But what if, there was a change? Something different. What if, there was a new Michael Morningstar? A person worthy of such a heritage and power with what it takes to achieve his fullest potential. Someone who would defy the fates and overwrite his fortune, creating and treading a new path, one that would lead him to astounding greatness and untold fortune. An individual who would stretch out his hand to grab the very fabric of the Cosmos, reshaping and molding it in his image... An anomaly whose boundless ambition would make even the Omnipotent Beings who presided over the entire Cosmos tremble in fear. ...The Morningstar who would transcend everything with no one to stop him... ●Disclaimer● I do not own any of the Ben 10 characters or original stories, only the plot of this fanfic and the characters of my creation. A Trap

"Why won't you die!?" the cyborg yelled in both rage and frustration as he leveled his machine gun hand in my direction, its barrel spinning as it began firing at me.

I stretched out both hands and with a thought, created two golden shields in front of them, blocking the dangerous machine gun rounds from hitting me.

With the two shields protecting me, I started flying all over the place. He immediately began to chase me on foot, continuing to shoot at me as I moved irregularly from place to place in the warehouse, his bullets never missing their mark, always hitting my shields.

"It doesn't matter how much you buzz around like a fly," he remarked loudly, annoyed, as he grabbed a random crate and hurled it towards me amidst the heavy gunshots in the air. "You'll still die, so come down and face me like a man!"

I smiled behind my mask and ignored him, utilizing my aerial advantage to move all over the place, my shields shattering but I instantly created another pair.

I was waiting for a chance. My energy was rapidly running out and in no time, I would be drained, leaving me utterly defenseless. I needed just one chance.

A single moment where he'd be distracted. If I got that, I'd be able to follow my plan and immediately finish this battle that had by now drawn the attention of the local authorities.

I also didn't think I'd last half an hour more in this place. The fumes and smoke from the fires in the room had drenched the entire place, making it very hot and also hard to breathe.

The thought of running away had previously crossed my mind when I was thinking of a plan because after all, I never planned to fight any superhuman or a cyborg today.

But I crushed and destroyed that thought the second after it came. This fight wasn't planned, but it just went to show how the world worked.

In the real world, things rarely went as planned, so when the unexpected happened, you just had to go with the flow and make something useful out of it.

It was one of the key secrets to surviving.

And that was what I was going to do. The battle experience I was extracting from this fight alone was reward enough. His enhanced lifeforce was a welcome bonus.

To be honest, I would've left if I believed I couldn't win. My pride wasn't large enough to prevent me from doing so, and above all else, my life was the most important.

But I had a plan to defeat him. It was very risky and would be painful, but nonetheless, it was a plan that would guarantee my win and his death. The rewards I'd get after made it worth the risk.

A few minutes passed as I continued the cat and mouse game with the cyborg, flying around and conjuring up shield after shield that was being destroyed by his relentless onslaught of bullets.

"I wonder how long you'll last in your state," He commented coldy as another one of my shields shattered, the other one cracking, as my aura flickered, it's intensity lowering as I gasped for air, each breath loud, heavy, and labored, my exhaustion and weakness obvious.

"If you come down now, I can guarantee a quick death. You won't need to suffer like you are now." He finished grimly as the bullets impacted my cracking shield, my aura gradually disappearing as heavy coughs flew out of my mouth.

Suddenly, something happened. The barrel of the machine gun stopped spinning, smoke flowing out of the muzzles, as a click sounded out from it, bullets no longer spraying out of the gun.

Noticing this, the cyborg frowned and shifted his eyes from me to his hand machine gun. Seeing this, I immediately flew towards him at full speed and adjusted my body to send an axe kick crashing down on his head.

He shifted his eyes to look at me and flashed me an arrogant smile, as if expecting me to do this, and crossed his arms above his head, blocking the strike easily with a metallic thunk.

Then, just as I was about to retreat, he swiftly seized one of my legs, yanked me downward, and delivered a powerful punch to my gut, driving deep into my stomach and knocking the wind out of me.

The impact threw me a few feet away, and I hit the floor with a loud bang.

Groaning in pain, my insides shaking and my body aching, I forced myself up on my knees, my head bent, and held my mouth and stomach as nausea hit me, stopping myself from puking out today's lunch.

I raised my head and watched as the cyborg stepped towards me, a sadistic smile plastered across his blood-stained face, the edge of his handblade trailing down the ground's surface.

My eyes widened, and my body trembled in fear and horror as he drew near and halted in front of me, the edge of his blade pointing at my forehead.

"P-P-Please don't kill me, I'll tell you all that you want to know. I'll do anything, please don't kill me! Please!" I screamed, pleading in terror, my voice quivering like a frightened child, and stumbled backward as he pushed me down with his foot.

"I don't care what you know or what you have," the cyborg said coldly, looking at me with disgust and rage as he raised his handblade in the air. "I'll see you later in hell."

"Nooooo!" I shouted in fear, and the next moment, he brought the blade down towards my head.

A bang rang in the air as I shifted my head, making it strike the ground, and stretched both of my hands towards his face, channeling the rest of my energy through them.

"Gotcha," I muttered with a dark smile as his widened in shock and fear, and before he could take a step back or even react, I poured out all of my energy towards his face in one combined blast.

The blast exploded in his face with a small boom, hurling him away fast until his body crashed into one of the large concrete columns or pillars that held up the warehouse with a bang, cracking and breaking a part of it.

Weakly, I struggled to my wobbly feet, and rubbing my stomach gently, trudged tiredly to the cyborg who was lying motionless on the floor, with his back, his head covered with smoke.

I halted in front of his body and wrinkled my nose in disgust upon inhaling the putrid odor of burnt human flesh as my eyes fell on his blackened head and face behind the smoke.

The entire skin on his head and face were seared black, the flesh twisted and contorted by the intense heat my attack emanated. His eye sockets were empty, and his lips were blackened and cracked.

I smiled at the sight of this and chuckled. Everything had gone according to plan.

With his strength, durability, and vitality, it was almost impossible to get a chance to attack him, and even if I did, it wouldn't be a fatal one.

So, I feigned or exaggerated my exhaustion and weakness, putting a suggestion in his mind that I was weak and harmless.

Then, I waited for a chance or a moment where he'd be distracted, his gun running out of bullets did that, and capitalized on that moment, sending myself in as bait.

Since he bought my act and believed my fake last-ditch attempt that looked as if I was putting all my hopes on attacking him when he wasn't looking.

He had no suspicion that it was a trap.

And so, he attacked me, and I behaved as if I'd lost all my strength, even pulling up my acting skills to plead with him, lowering his guard completely.

Giving me the one chance I needed to go for the jugular and finish this fight. If he was at his full strength, he might have been able to dodge my last attack but he wasn't, despite the tough guy act he put up.

And if he had invested in getting mental or cognitive enhancements, maybe he would've been smart enough to detect my scheme.

Fortunately, he wasn't smart.

"...Gahhh..." A weak and weird choking sound came out from his burnt throat. It was like a hum, only weaker and sounding like he was dying.

Which he was. Luckily, my remaining reserves weren't enough to kill him. It was only enough to leave him almost dead which was perfect for me.

I raised an eyebrow at this and went down on one knee, in front of his head, placing my right palm on his hot fried head.

"Say hi to your gang members for me."
