2 The First Day

It was saturday morning and I had just put on my costume and was ready to head out for the first time. I knew that there probably wouldn't be that much crime at this time of day but, I couldn't wait until night time to head out.

I hopped out of my window and onto the roof selecting an alien before smashing my hand down. There was the familiar flash of light and there I was as Stinkfly, he was probably my least favorite form but, he was the only one who could fly. With a flap of my massive wings I was off flying into the sky.

It was a beautiful day there were no clouds in the sky and all of the leaves were changing making it look beautiful from above. I soon entered the New York skyline and was weaving between skyscrappers. I had to land because as fun as it was to fly it was impossible to spot any crimes when I was five hundred feet above the ground.

I swapped into XLR8 who was the best for partoling through town through town. Instead of using the streets I was freeruning along the rooftops. I leapt from building to building enjoying the cool autum air.

I controlled my speed to under 100 mph so I wouldn't crash and navigated through the city. By the time it was noon I was bored stiff, I guess I was expecting something to happed right away considering how crime ridden Marvel always made New York out to be. But, I had been out for over six hours and hadn't heard so much as a single police siren.

I originaly wanted to get a police scanner to listen for crime but, everytime I shifted everything I was wearing would dissapear so it was pointless to put one in my helmet. I decided to stop for a while and eat lunch I turned back into a human for a moment to get some money from my pocket and then changed back to XLR8.

I found a nearby Seven Eleven and raided it for snacks leaving the money on the counter. The poor cashier started screaming about a ghost and almost ran out of the store before his manager stopped him.

Sitting on top of a stone gargoyle I layed back and started eating a bag of chips.

"Ding ding ding ding"

"Of course" I sighed I should have known something would happen as soon as I got comfy. Leaping to my feet I finished the bag of chips and the rest the food using my super speed and tried to pinpoint where the alarm was coming from.

The Alarm was coming from a bank a couple blocks away. Once that was settled I leapt off the gargoyle and ran down the building to the sidewalk shocking the pedestrians in my way. It only took a moment for me to arrive at the bank and see the vault doors blown open and a group of men filling up dufflebags with money.

I leaned onto a nearby marble pillar and tried to be as cool as possible to make a good entrance "Well, Well, Well what do we have here?"

"What" I starled them and they turned to me in shock.

When turned to face me I managed to get a good look at them aside from the normal thiefs who I didn't care about there were three of them in costumes which immediately put me on guard. Two of the three men I didn't recognize the first was the biggest man I had ever seen. He was at least eight feet tall and build like truck his costume was metalic looking and light blue. The second guy's costume was the same but, red and he was far smaller than the blue guy.

Even though I didn't know the first two the third person was impossible not to recognize it was the Shocker. He was wearing his classic checker patteren yellow suit and was currently giving me a death stare.

"And who are you supposed to be" we spoke at the same time?

"jinx" I started laughing and holding my sides to mock him.

Shocker on the other hand didn't seem amused he growled a bit and lifted his gauntlets to fire his shockwaves at me. "I already have one superpowered idiot in my life I don't need another."

I rolled to the side dodging his blast which turned the marble pillar into dust "Hah, you owe me a soda!"

"Get'em boys" Shocker yelled as his two partners charged me and the rest of the robbers grabbed their bags and started fleeing the bank.

The big blue one lifted a table off the ground and chucked it at me while the red one started bouncing off the walls gaining momentum before launching himself. I jumped over the table but, Red predicted me and I had to brace myself before taking the hit. I flew back and smashed into a wall sending shards of rock flying.

I pushed off the wall and managed to slide under the legs of Blue who was about to stomp on my face. I kicked him in the back of the knee making him fall to the ground and jumped to the side avoiding Red who smashed into the granite floor leaving a web of cracks. While he was recovering from his landing I punched him in the face knocking him down.

"Woah, you guys are pretty tough" I rolled my shoulders shrugging of my pain.

"Yeah, well the Big Man ain't pay'n us for nothing" Shocker said while firing another blast at me.

I dodged back and forth as he bombarded me with attacks. While changing directions so quickly I couldn't reach full speed and was only avoiding his attacks by a hairs breadth. I tried to rush him but, as I got closer it was harder and harder to dodge and he nailed me in the chest sending me crashing.

I flew outside and landed in the street.

"Ahh" I groaned in pain and stumbled to my feet my head spinning "that hurt like a bitch."

"Language monster your on film" Shocker came out and stood on top of the banks stairs followed by Red and Blue then pointed to a news truck that had set up nearby to catch the fight.

"You, know you never did tell me your names" I asked stalling for time so that I could recover more.

"You first freak" Shocker snorted.

"Me? I'm just your friendly neighborhood alien ,but you can call me Impulse."

"Impulse huh, pretty good name this is Ox and Fancy Dan" he motioned to Blue and Red respectively "and I'm The-"

"Shocker! Jynx I got you again!"

"Hah ha, funny man" Shocker sarcasticly me sending another blast.

"You clearly don't understand how this game works do you" I snickered dodging the attack but, inside I was a little worried. Shockers companions Ox and Fancy Dan weren't too hard to beat Shocker on the other hand was extremely skilled and with those gauntlets of his there was no way I was going to get close to him. I needed a change of clothes.

"Diamondhead" I screamed changing into the alien I thought could help me the best.

"What in tarnation" Shocker exclaimed!

Not giving them a chance to recover from their shock I shot diamond shards at them while I jumped up to the top of the stairs in one massive leap.

"Time to go boy's" Shocker screamed as he blasted the shards out of the air and followed Ox and Fancy Dan back into the bank. Instead of heading to the vault they ran to a nearby wall, I saw shocker ajusting a small knob on his gauntlets then taking aim and blasting a massive hole through at least a dozen building along the block.

While Diamond head wasn't slow he wasn't fast either so as I chased them through the buildings I was having trouble catching up.

Shocker turned sending a building leveling blast flying towards me knocking me back. It stung a little but, I was unhurt and was being pushed back as they got further and further away. I changed my hands into spikes and started clawing my way forward.

"What kind of monster is he" Fancy Dan asked being fully away of how much power Shockers blasts had.

"I . . . told you . . I'm . an . . alien . not a . . . Monster" I force out.

"Well, whatever you are you ain't gonna be following us much longer" Shocker joked while turning the knob on his gauntlet all the way up.

The force blasted me in the face pushing me back so hard that I left deep gashes while trying to hold on. It was so intense that my body was showing signs of cracking.

"Haha, look at him break" Ox said.

"Yep, looks like we'll be bring'n a couple more diamonds back to the Big Man." Shocker laughed

I felt like I needed to make a move soon but, the only alien I could think of that would help me right now was Ghostfreak who could just phase through the attack. I never wanted to use him in case it was like in the show where he was sentient even as only a few strands of DNA. I tried to think of another solution I was coming up empty.

It was looking like I didn't have a choice except to change but, just as I was about to act there was a loud explosion. One of Shockers gauntlets exploded stopping the blast, I took a moment to take a breath and fuse together the small cracked in my body.

While I was distracted Shocker had ripped the broken gauntlet off his arm threw it to the ground "piece of junk" he cursed before staring to run again. He ran into an empty coffee shop before stopping.

"Is this it" Ox asked?

"Yes, right below us" Fancy Dan answered him while checking a screen attached to his forearm.

"Good, now back off" Shocker motioned before using his remaining gauntlet to blasting the ground. The floor of the coffee shop collapsed revealing a bottomless pit.

"Down we go" Fancy Dan spoke while jumping into the darkness.

"Not so fast" a voice was he heard and Fancy Dan was struck with a glob of webs sticking him to the side of the pit.

"Spider" Shocker turned Spider-Man in anger and sent a shockwave flying at him.

Spider-Man jumped and stuck to the ceiling "Now, now that wasn't very nice of you Montana. Your just gonna start blasting without introducing me to your posse?"

"Ox get Fancy Dan out of there while I hold off the bug" Shocker screamed.

Spider-Man sighed and started shooting web balls at shocker "we've been over this before Shocker I'm an arachnid not a big their two different things."

"And I told you Spider if you try and stop me again I'll put you in the ground" Shocker fired at Spider-Man destroying the web balls and making Spider-Man dodge again.

When I rushed into the coffee shop I saw Ox freeing Fancy Dan before jumping down the hole. While Spider-Man and Shocker were duking it out. Without a word I fired a volley of diamond shards at Shocker catching him unaware and knocking him back towards the pit.

"Woah" Spiderman gaped in shock.

"Damn it" Shocker cursed "Sorry boys but, I'm done playing for today" he waved before jumping into the pit himself.

"Come on Spider-Man we can't let them get away" I followed Shocker down.

Spider-Man shot a web at my back and pulled himself forward and sticking on my back "Right, we definitely can't let them get away Mister . . .Rock Cystal Man?"

"It's Impusle" I corrected him as we landed on top of a moving subway car. I looked around and didn't see any signs of The Shocker.

"Impulse? Why that Mister Rock Crystal Man makes way more sense."

"First, I have a bunch of different forms I can change into so I would be stupid to make my superhero name based off of just one of them. Second get off my back. And third please focus on finding Shocker."

"Yes, Sir" He jumped off and saluted me.

I sighed ignoring his antics "So which way do you think they went" I asked?

Spider-Man stopped joking and got serious "To the front if I was him I would get to the front car and disconnect it so we can't follow him."

"Alright lets go."

We ran to the front of the car and it was exactly as Spider-Man said they disconnected the front car and we were slowly drifting further and further away.

"It's too far for my webshooters" Spider-Man said.

"Not if I throw you" I smiled at him showing him my right arm.

"A fastball special, I like it" he jumped up onto my arm.

I took a moment to aim before chucking him with all my strength. Diamond head may not be as strong as Fourarms but, he is still easily strong enough to lift a bus so I had no trouble throwing him the entire distance. He landed on top of the cabin with a loud thud startling the Enforcers inside. Who came out to start battling him.

Meanwhile I was still stuck in back slowing to a stop. I knew Diamondhead was too slow to catch up to them so I tapped the Omnitrix to transform once again. I didn't change into XLR8 because I had already used him in the fight and didn't want to be boring. Instead I choose Heatblast!

Not wasting a second a jumped off the train firing a jet of flames from my hands and feet to fly forward. I landed on the front car and saw Fancy Dan all webbed up while Ox was crushing Spider-Man in a bearhug and Shocker punching him in the stomach.

I grabbed onto Ox heating up his armor and forcing him to let go, Spider-Man seeing his chance kicked up catching shocker in his chin. I held down Ox while Spider-Man took the gauntlet off of Shocker and webbed him up before coming over to me and doing the same to Ox.

"Phew" He rolled his shoulder "thanks for the help another few seconds and I would have been Spider paste."

"No problem" I shrugged.

"So are you a new hero" he asked?

"Yep" I answered him turning back into a human.

"Cool" Spider-Man came and pat me on the back "I could use the help it's been pretty hectic lately."

"So what do we do with them" I asked pointing to the Enforcers.

"Oh, we just have to make sure their secure and let the police handle the rest."

"Awesome" I gave him a thumbs up "So how do we stop the train?"

"Um, about that I kind of sorta maybe accidentally unintentionally smashed the brakes while we were fighting" he scratched his neck in embaressment.

"Hahaha" Shocker laughed you may have beaten us but, you haven't one. Now that the controls are busted we can't change tracks anymore so this here trains gonna keep on goin til it crashes."

"Hello" spiderman flicked his forehead "I have webs remember not to mention this isn't even the first train I've stopped."

"While that may be webhead while your busy stopping this train I'm sure the little present we left at the bank will have . . . shall we say cleaned up the evidence."

"There's a bomb at the bank" Spider-Man screamed.

"You go deal with the bomb" I told him "I'll stop the train.

He nodded at me before launching some webs and slingshoting himself down the tunnel.

"Now how to stop this thing" I thought out loud.

"Face it freak. You'll never be able to stop it in time" Shocker tried to mess with me.

I completely ignored him and made one transformation.

"Upgrade!" As Upgrade I fused with the train I activated the brakes while at the same time throwing the engine into reverse. Everything shook and sparks flew everywhere as we slowly skidded to a halt.

"So what if you stopped the train that idot spider will ne-."

"Will you shut up" I cover his mouth with metal to keep him quite while also trapping him and his friends until the police came.

Once that was done I jumped out of the subway car and followed after Spider-Man to see if I could help with the bomb.

"Everybody Get Back" Spider-Man screamed! He was standing in the middle street trying to disperse the crowd of people who were gathering at the scene. He had the bomb with him and was waiting for it's timer to get low enough before launching it into the air so there would be less damage.

He was completely focused on the bomb and his back was drenched in sweat. That's what I saw when I climbed out of the pit and out into the street.

"You can't disarm it" I asked him?

"No It's set so that any tampering will set it off immediatly" he shook his head "the only option is to get it was far away as possible."

12, 11, 10, 9

"Let me try something" I said jumping into the bomb getting a feel for how it worked.

"Can you stop it" Spider-Man asked sounding hopeful.

"Got it" I cheered "It's disarmed!"

8, 7, 6, 5

"T-then why is it still counting down" Spider-Man stuttered.

"Because it's that part of the bomb is analog not digital and I didn't want to mess with anything I don't understand in case you know, Boom."

4, 3

"Are you absolutly sure" He started backing away?

"100% certain . . . 95% certain."

2, 1, 0 . . .

"Oh, thank god" Spidey sighed.

"See no problems" I gave him another thumbs up.

Spider-Man laughed thinking that he had finaly met someone who was a bigger idiot than he was. After he waved the police over saying that the bomb was disarmed and the bomb squad rushed over and quickly contained the explosives.

Spider-Man looked around seeing all the new crews and growing crowd pulled me closer and said "we should go it's starting to get a bit crowded here." After saying that he webbed a nearby building and swung off.

I was about to follow him when I felt someone pulling on my arm. I looked over and saw that it was a female reporter carrying a tape recorder and a note pad.

"Hello I am Betty Brant with the Daily Bugle and I was wondering if you could answer a few questions."

I thought about it for a moment and decided to answer a couple of her questions after all I didn't want to end up like the dumpster fire that was Spider-Man's public image "Sure" I responded.

She looked at me excited before flipping through her note book and asking " The first thing I want to ask is are you an alien?"

"Am I an alien? I guess the answer to that is yes and no, you see I have the power to turn into different aliens but, my real body is actually human."

"Ok, and what where you doing here today?"

"Well, I'm actually an aspiring superhero and today is actually my first day on patrol."

"Amazing, and how is it you can change into all these aliens?"

"That's getting a bit personal" I glared at her.

"Right, sorry" She appologied and decided to wrap the interview up since I was getting irritated "one last question. Can you tell me your name?"

"Me, you can call me Impulse I smiled at her while changing back into XLR8 and running up the side of the bank to go after Spider-Man.

I searched for several blocks but, Spider-Man dissapeared. It bummed me out a little but, too much because after all I did get to eat lunch with him pretty much everyday. After that fight even though I wasn't actually hurt I was still pretty tired so I chose to go home and take a break for a while and come back after dark.

I had transformed six different times and the Omnitrix was running a bit low on energy and needed a couple hours to recharge.

Hours later the footage of the new superhero Impulse was airing nonstop on all the news networks. People couldn't stop talking about compairing him to other heroes like Spider and Ironman. Or wondering where he got his powers and how many aliens he could turn into. While all of this was happening I was sitting at home watching all of this with a huge smile on my face.
