It was a bright and sunny day in Cinea. The last few days had been very cold and gloomy with temperatures below 10 degrees. In one of the poshest areas of Cinea stood the world-famous hospital-Yang Global Hospitals (YGH). Outside the hospital, there were numerous pedestrians and vehicles which were passing through.

Suddenly, there was a blaring noise of sirens and an ambulance was rushing through the streets. A police jeep was following the ambulance. They stopped at the entrance of the hospital. As the ambulance doors opened the nurses could see two people covered in blood. Both of them were men and had bullet holes on their bodies.

The older man had been shot twice. Once on the shoulder and the other in the gut. The other person had been shot in the chest. Both of them were immediately taken to the ER.

The ER doctors gave them immediate treatment and stabilized their injuries. However, both of them needed to be operated. Although the older person was shot twice the younger one was more critically injured. The ER department immediately pinged the Surgery department and both the patients were transferred to the operation theatre.

In the doctors' lounge, a message was transmitted over the speaker-

'Two emergency patients are incoming. Dr. Bing and Dr. Yang quickly report to OT1 and OT2 respectively.' (OT- operation theatre)

The restroom in the doctors' lounge opened and a person came out putting on her doctors' coat. She then tied her hair in a bun and rushed out of the lounge towards the OT. The few people who were sitting in the lounge gaped at the rushing beauty.

It was Dr. Bing Xue who had rushed out of the lounge. The previous night she had performed a 2-hour operation. After the operation, she had night duty. She had just slept for 3 hours when she had been called up again.

When she reached the operation theatre, she found that Dr. Yang had already arrived. Two operations would be performed simultaneously. All the people who would participate in the operations had been assembled. The two senior surgeons who would perform the surgeries were also present. They were directing the doctors and nurses towards different operation theatres.

The younger person was more critical than the older one. Therefore, the more experienced senior surgeon would operate on the younger person. The surgeon chose Dr. Yang to assist him.

Dr. Bing was chosen to assist the other senior surgeon. They would operate on the older man. Both the operations started.

If there were no complications then the operations would take about 3 hours.

In 2.5 hours, the 1st operation was completed. It was the older man's operation. It finished before the estimated mark of 3 hours. It was primarily due to Dr. Bing's assistance. She quickly patched up the wound on the shoulder and then assisted the main surgeon. She repaired the esophagus while the main surgeon took care of the stomach.

An hour later the second operation was completed. It was also a success. The team had successfully repaired the damaged Aortic valve. Although a difficult surgery, they had pulled it off successfully. Many people congratulated them.

Both Dr. Yang and Dr. Bing headed back to the doctors' lounge. On their way to the lounge, Dr. Yang smirked and said to Dr. Bing, "Congratulations on the success of your operation!"

Dr. Bing replied, "It was only a minor operation. Rather, I should congratulate you on the success of your operation."

On hearing this Dr. Yang nodded and then suddenly turned towards the CEO's office and separated from Dr. Bing.

Dr. Bing went back to the restroom in the lounge. She removed her coat and laid down on the bed. She then closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

It had been 10 months since Bing Xue started working in Yang Global Hospitals. After completing her degree, she had applied to this hospital. YGH was the most popular choice for all young doctors.

However, Bing Xue was not sure. Firstly, because she did not have a good impression of Yang Ruowei (Dr. Yang). Stephens Medical College was the top medical school in the country (3rd globally) and Dr. Yang had been her classmate in Stephens Medical College. Dr. Yang had been competing with her throughout their college lives. If she applied there, they would be colleagues as they both had the same specialties. Secondly, she was intrigued by a new hospital group that had become operational in the last few years. It was called MeiLi Hospitals (MLH). They had hospitals in Cinea and Zijin.

The Zijin hospital had already been operational for 2 years and had an impeccable reputation. The hospital in Cinea had been operational for more than 6 months and was doing well. There were even rumors that a third hospital in Westphalia was under construction.

On the other hand, was YGH the largest hospital chain in the country. It had many hospitals not only in Colchis but in many countries across the globe.

She was confused. As she couldn't decide she took the safer route i.e. Yang Global Hospitals. She was called for an interview. She aced it. However, she also put down certain conditions. The most important was regarding her contract. She stated that initially, she would only sign a one-year employment contract. If she found working in YGH satisfactory, she would continue. Otherwise, she would leave. Then she negotiated the salary and signed the contract. She had an annual salary of 120,000 dollars. She rented an apartment near the hospital to avoid transit. She started working a week later.

In the past 10 months, she had a few clashes with Dr. Yang. However, every time Dr. Yang was able to suppress her. This was because Dr. Yang Ruowei belonged to the most influential family in the country- the Yang family. She was the future heiress of Yang Global Hospitals. The hospital was her playground and all the senior doctors favored her.

When Bing Xue had decided to join YGH, she had thought of the possibility of being suppressed by Yang Ruowei. This was the main reason why she only signed a one-year contract.

When it came to surgeries, Bing Xue was far superior to any of her peers. She had always been a top student but her skills as a surgeon were a cut above the rest. In the past 10 months, the entire staff had become aware of her skills. Even so, this was also not the first time when the senior staff had favored Yang Ruowei over her. In the past 10 months, there had been many incidents when Dr. Yang was picked over her. For a surgeon, experience is the most important factor to hone their skills. Dr. Yang would be given more difficult surgeries to perform. She was often allowed to observe the operations of the top surgeons in the hospital. She was even favored with regard to various exchange seminars and programs.

Bing Xue had expected that Ruowei being the future successor would be favored, however, she never expected to be suppressed. Bing Xue had guessed that it was Ruowei's influence. She would be assigned very hectic shifts. She would also often be sent to perform banal procedures.

Her schedule would often clash whenever complex surgeries were performed by the senior surgeons. Due to this, she had missed out on many important operations.

This was primarily due to the proud and competitive nature of Yang Ruowei and her need to win. She felt inferior when it came to Bing Xue. She had always been second to Xue throughout her college life. However, now that they were working adults in the real world, she used her background to suppress Bing Xue. Her pride had been wounded and it was her way of getting back at Dr. Bing Xue.
