Who is he? - I

The Del Rosa was one of the most famous restaurants of London. Expensive too.

The reservations could go on for more than six months at a stretch. So, unless someone had a name that was well known, they could only dream of dining in the restaurant.

But of course, Michael did not need that. He only had to say his last name for the reservation to the hostess and they will lead to the table that he had booked.

"Lunch," Joyce politely concluded. "Thank you for taking time out for me."

He flashed her a quick smile. " I like the way you talk. Your parents have taught you well."

Well, thank you for that. What a compliment that was. She had waited for her entire life to hear that from her husband.

Instead of saying all of that, Joyce just ended up politely nodding again, and taking the menu.

"Joyce, I would prefer it if you do not drink at the moment. I have to take you home to your father."

Now this was a bit complicated to unravel. Her father would not appreciate her drinking, but it seems like Michael would like that option to happiness well. How conveniently he has chosen the excuse of her father, effortlessly pinning the blame on him.

"Okay," she smiled and handed the menu to the waiter, who came to them once again, for the order of the drinks. "I will just take some water." Sparkling, She wanted to add but then ended up keeping shut.

Yeah, now the menu of the drinks had been replaced with the menus of but replaced with actual food items.

The worst part about this place was that they did not have the price tag next to the item. So in case he decided not to pay for it, she was definitely in for a ride.

She chose common food items. Something that they definitely could not put a higher price tag on because the dish was as simple as it came.

Once the menus and their orders were taken, they were free and she felt his attention on her again.

"What is it that you have been majoring in?"

"Child psychology." She answered. "I want to be a researcher in the field."

"Hmm," he nodded. "That is an appropriate subject to choose. I see why your father allowed you."

Because not many parents in this lifestyle, allowed their children to choose anything that would not benefit them. For boys, it was business and finance most of the time and for girls, it was something that was either related to managing the business which was quite rare or it was something in the medical field, which was also rare. Most of the time, they were just told to sit at home and how to be a good wife.

It was not that bad. Many of them enjoyed the life that came with the lifestyle, but many of them also ended up dead before the age of 40.

She nodded again. "What is it that you do? My father never told me that."

"I have a family business of import and export. I am yet to inherit it from my father, but I am the acting CEO."

"I see." She whispered. "So you mainly operate in London?"

"No, I have to spend a lot of time in Australia. So, you would be coming with me." He clicked his tongue at the taste of the wine. "This is not good."

He raised his hand and called the waiter. When he came closer, Michael went on, to explain how this was not what he ordered.

It only made her realize how George would never do that. Instead, he would continue to drink the wine, even if it was horrible.

She remembered all her manners when it came to eating the food. Michael, too, was good at it. It was almost natural to her, all she had ever had with Geogre was junk food. Something both of them enjoy equally and by the looks of Michael's physique, she was not going to have anything of sorts with him.

Once he had paid, Micheal stood up and they walked to his car. The entire ride had been silent and it felt uncomfortable with him.

"Thank you for today, Joyce." He said right before he parked the car in front of our house. "You were pleasant company."

She smiled and bid him farewell before walking out of the car. She did not want to be pleasant company, Joyce wanted to be the best, but with him, it seemed impossible.
