Janus Mayewsky, repeated Julius in his mind. He was a deputy commissioner at Interpol's London office. The revelation was so shocking that Linden was unable to even say a word.
"The organization that has kidnapped you," said the man they believed to be a member of the organization until a moment ago, "has very extensive branches. Since I have Polish ancestry, I have been working undercover for three years to break up the Eastern European smuggling line. Unfortunately, your appearance spoiled my plans."
"That's very interesting," remarked Gustav with exasperation, "but where is David?"
"In another transport," explained Janus dryly. "At this point he should be being picked up by another police unit. The news should reach us any moment now."
"But how did you manage to organize such a large-scale operation if we messed up your plans?" wondered Julius.
Janus looked at him with such a gaze that an exciting shudder went through Linden.
