Karol Krosny had no idea what was happening and how it happened. The reason of that was not his lack of intelligence, it was because the situation was so absurd, so unbelievable, that he could not comprehend it.

Police officers were roaming around the grounds near the palace and the house itself securing traces. Technicians even took his fingerprints to exclude them from the investigation as not belonging to the suspects. Suspects ... of what?

The police officers who showed up here were big shots from the city, not any traffic cop or constable from a rural station. The matter looked serious. It looked to serious for him to apprehend it.
