He is your childhood friend

"*knock knock*"

Mara looked up at the door lazily. "It is time to go to client lunch with Mr. Noah Flynn" Kylo reminded, the young woman nodded in understatement. "Let's go" she sighed and got up from the swivel chair. Her steps directed to the outside of the office.

Kylo opened the door for her, he might dislike the young woman but he never treated the young woman like others did. He treated her like a real boss. So whenever he wants, he could use the young woman as a shield and destroy the company easily.

"I want to see useful and hardworking people in my company in three days" Mara spoke as she stepped into the elevator with Kylo behind her. She looked at the reflection of the man in mirror. "Yes, I understand" Kylo replied with the stone face, not showing any emotions like usual.

It was strange to see the young woman like that. But he did not question, he just remained silent and observed the young woman's behavior. Mara raised her eyebrow in amusement, that man did not question anything and just watched. He did not complain.

She wanted to keep him by her side all the time. That man was useful for her company. However that man had his own plan, he did not even care about others except his mother so there was no chance for Mara to keep him by her side.

She would not be able to do anything but watch him leave when the time came. "Miss Mara, we have arrived" the man's voice brought Mara back from spacing out. She quickly looked at the man and raised her eyebrows, asking for an explanation.

"We have arrived"

Kylo repeated, making Mara pressed her lips in realization. She stepped out of the elevator and squeezed her eyes, that was embarrassing for her. "The car is already outside" the man spoke, not even bother about what happened just now. "Mmm" the young woman replied.

She went into the car's back seat as Kylo closed the door for her then he went to the front seat. As he closed the door, the car drove off from the company, directing to the restaurant where the meeting would be held. After some minutes, they arrived to the restaurant.

Kylo went out of the car and opened the car door for his Boss. Mara thanked the man with a small smile. Suddenly, her eyes met the red colored Zenvo TSR-S car which was parked in front of her car. That car was the same one which she had seen at the restaurant before.

The one where she even thought the man in the car was trying to kidnap her Husky. She ignored it and turned around, walking into the restaurant with Kylo behind her. He looked like a knight who protected the royal family, at all cost. People stared at the young woman.

They hardly recognized the young woman because of the way she was wearing and the way she was walking with head up like a queen who owned the whole empire. Mara's fox eyes were searching for a man who named Noah Flynn. Thankfully, Kylo found the man quickly.

He told the young woman where the man was sitting, Mara's gaze fell onto the table where the two men were sitting side to side. She walked towards the table confidently, not seeing the future which was waiting for her. "Thank you for waiting me" she spoke with a usual smile.

The two men looked up at the voice owner. Both of them eyes widened in disbelief, could not even utter words to reply. They could not believe their own eyes. Mara raised her eyebrow with a confused smile, not knowing why the two men were staring at her with widened eyes.

She furrowed her brows.

"Is there something on my face?"

The two men quickly recovered from the shock. They stood up from the seats in hurry. "Umm it is fine. We are family after all" the man who was around sixty spoke. Mara frowned tightly in confusion. She blinked twice in confusion, trying to understand what was happening.

She looked back at Kylo with an awkward smile, quietly asking for an explanation. Since Mara Athena was a side character, she did not know anything about her. "Your mother and him are best friends. The man beside your mother's friend is your childhood friend, Aleksander Flynn"

Kylo stepped towards and whispered to the young woman. He noticed that the young woman was asking for help quietly. He was dumbfounded when the young woman looked back at him with confused eyes. She should know the two men since she was close to them.

It was strange, making Kylo dizzy with questions. But he helped the young woman, not questioning back. The sight of Kylo whispering near Mara's ear made Aleksander Flynn frowned tightly. "Oh! Yea long time no see, Uncle. Please sit down"

Mara spoke as she sat down across of the man while Kylo stood beside her like a statue, not even caring others stares. The two men sat down, "It's been years since we last met. You've changed" Noah Flynn aka Mara Athena's mother's friend said with a warm smile.

"Thanks, I will take that as a compliment. Oh, do you want drinks or maybe a cake? You can order as much as you want. I will pay for you" Mara smiled at Noah Flynn, not even sparing a glance at the man who was observing her every movement. His brows were pulled together.

The young woman in front of him had changed into someone he never knew before. She used to care about him a lot when they were young. But now she did not even spare a glance at him. She was ignoring him obviously. Maybe she was still mad at him for what happened.

"No, thanks. We already ordered coffee for us. You still remember him, right? What are you doing? Greet your childhood friend" Noah signaled his son to greet the young woman. Mara smiled at the man, not saying anything because she did not know him well.

But it made the man more upset.

"Are you still mad at me?"

The man blurted out, confusing the young woman. She gulped, she might be the perfect woman with savage comebacks however the man in front of her was talking things she did not know. She looked up at Kylo with teary eyes, wanting to vanish into thin air.

Kylo looked down at the young woman, he blinked twice in confusion. The young woman was asking for help again but he did not know how to help. It was the personal issues of her and that man, how could he know? Why was she asking for help from him only?

She was acting like a person who just born. Kylo furrowed his brows, telling the young woman he could not help her. They two had a silent conversation with eyes. The sight of the young woman and the man looking deeply into into each other eyes made Aleksander frowned.

"Why are you looking at him?" He asked with flames in his eyes, ready to burn down the whole world. Mara turned her attention back to the man who was glaring at Kylo Aaron. She helplessly sighed. "No, I am not mad at you anymore"

She answered, she did not want to say she was transmigrated into Mara Athena's body. She had to cover the mess. "Then why did you look at me with disgust that day?" Aleksander questioned again, making the young woman pressed her lips in annoyance tiredly.

"I don't understan-" her eyes suddenly widened in realization. That's right, Aleksander Flynn was the man who owned that red colored Zenvo TSR-S car. He was the one who stared at her Husky that day. She did not know him and accidentally looked at him with disgust.

He misunderstood her.

'Damn it.. this fucking novel is playing with me' she gritted her teeth in annoyance. How would she know that he was the childhood friend of Mara? Ofc, she just thought he was someone who was trying to kidnap her Husky. It was not her fault. It was this novel's fault.

Noah noticed the annoyed look on the young woman's face. "You two should talk privately, Alek. I have to talk about business with Mara" Noah interrupted the conversation. Mara nodded in agreement. "That's right, I still have some business stuffs to talk with your father. Let's resolve that misunderstanding later"

Mara smiled at the man, telling him to shut up for awhile. Aleksander sighed, he stared at the young woman and nodded in understatement. "Alright" Mara smiled in relief when she heard the man's answer. "Great.. so back to the work. You want to collaborate with my company's brand, right?"

Mara quickly changed the topic. Kylo furrowed his brows at the sight of Aleksander staring at the young woman. That man did not even bother to blink. He just observed the woman, not caring others stares on him. His eyes were on the young woman only.

Kylo frowned and looked down at the young woman who was discussing with Noah Flynn. He wanted to know the relationship between Mara and Aleksander. It was the first time, he wanted to know something about the young woman.

He never cared about the young woman before but now he was willing to know the relationship between Mara Athena and Aleksander Flynn. He could not help but wondered what happened between the two. "Kylo, give me the file"

The young woman looked up at the man who was staring down at Aleksander with unreadable expression. "Kylo! Give me the file" Mara raised her voice but not too loud. Kylo snapped back from his train of thoughts. He looked down at the young woman with confused eyes.

"Give Me The File"

Mara repeated, pressing the words in annoyance. Why was Kylo Aaron spacing out in the middle of discussion? Normally, he would focus on the discussion only. But now he was looking at Aleksander Flynn with unreadable expression. Did something happen between them?

Kylo nodded in understatement and handed the file to the young woman quickly. "Thanks" Mara smiled at the man. Kylo nodded, knowing the meaning of the young woman's smile. She was telling him to focus. His aurora green eyes were focused on the young woman only, not looking at Aleksander Flynn anymore.

Two hours passed like that.
