Why had she? “Because your family is perfect.”
“We aren’t, but if we were, why would that make a difference?”
Fiona waved her hand again. “You wouldn’t understand a less than normal family. My family has always been complicated. And now with my parents gone, I’ve taken on raising my sister.”
“Isn’t she in college?”
“She is.”
“Seems like most of the raising is done.”
Wyatt had a point, but she was still fiscally responsible for her sister. “Someone still has to pay the bills. That falls to me. There was no money left over after I paid my father’s debts.”
“You need money, Fi?”
“No,” she said. “I’m not begging for money. I just wanted to come clean about my circumstances. Seeing as we’ll be working together for a few months, I decided it was better to be honest.”
“What I don’t understand is why you weren’t honest when you left?”
