Chapter 98 The City Of Warriors Part 34

The tree roots in the forest poked out from the soil, emerged from the ground, and rushed towards the spider creatures in front of Lan Huan. The tree roots grabbed the legs of the spiders that rushed toward Lan Huan and Haneul. One of the tree roots pushed Jianjun to Sukh, and one of the spiders stepped on Jianjun's abdomen with its legs, trying to kill Jianjun.

Sukh dodged from behind the tree, rushed out with his sword, and cut off the spider's legs. As soon as he landed, he grabbed Jianjun's collar and pulled him behind the tree. Sukh was about to rush forward to rescue the next soldier, but many smaller spiders had surrounded the other soldiers, and he had to abandon the rescue mission.

Sukh lifted Jianjun onto his right shoulder and ran towards Lan Huan and Haneul.

While Lan Huan was still controlling the roots to attack the spiders in front of her, smaller spiders had begun to crawl from different directions, surrounding Lan Huan and Haneul.

Haneul yelled, "My Lady, whatever you need to do; do it quickly now." He shot an arrow at one of the spiders. "We are completely surrounded." He lowered his bow as he ran out of arrows. He drew his sword from the scabbard on his back and began to attack the oncoming spider. "Hurry up..." Haneul jumped over a spider and chopped off the head of another spider with his sword. From a distance, he saw Sukh rushing out of the forest with Jianjun on his shoulder. "Your prince has been rescued, let's go!"

Lan Huan knelt, clasped her hands together, and then put her hands onto the ground. Roots and vines rose from the ground, forming a wall that separated the larger spiders from Lan Huan and the others. Lan Huan stood up, turned around and raised her hand, hundreds of vines spurted out from the ground and began to pierce the small spiders surrounding her and Haneul.

Lan Huan yelled, "Let's go! Protect His Highness and send him back to Magior capital!"

Seeing Lan Huan clearing the way for him, Haneul rushed forward after Sukh and Jianjun leaving Lan Huan to fend for herself.

Once, Haneul, Sukh, and Jianjun fled from the forest to an open space, and the spiders chasing them dared not to step out. The spiders hissed at the three of them and slowly retreated into the forest.

Sukh looked at Haneul and asked, "Where is Lady Huan?"

Haneul looked around and spotted two horses. He quickly pulled the two horses and said, "She is still in the forest." He grabbed Jianjun from Sukh's shoulders and put Jianjun on the ground. "You just stay here with His Highness."

Sukh looked at Haneul without saying a word. He understood Haneul's intention. "I'll wait for you here."

Haneul smiled at Sukh and said, "If we haven't come out after half an hour, you can leave with His Highness."

Sukh nodded and said, "I understand."

Haneul stepped forward and kissed Sukh's lips gently. "Remember to wait only half an hour, no more." He jumped on the back of a horse. "Don't follow me in."

Sukh looked at Haneul and said, "If you don't want me to follow you back to that forest, you'd better stay alive."

Haneul chuckled. "I haven't regained my kingdom yet, and I haven't awarded you the title of Great Grand General of Tangzang. Therefore, I don't want to die in this stupid forest." He took the two horses back to the forest.

Spiders were killed left and right, Lan Huan controlled fewer and fewer vines and tree roots, and the blood on Lan Huan's palm began to dry up.

Although natural death would not affect Lan Huan, Lan Huan knew that her body would not heal as quickly as these creatures could tear her apart. She did not confront the spiders as planned but began to retreat in the direction that the other had left. The spiders seemed to have read her escape plan and began to pile up, leaving no room for Lan Huan to escape. Just when she thought she would die alone in the forest, she saw Haneul riding towards her on horseback.

Haneul swung his sword at the other horse's neck, and the horse fell to the ground. The smell of blood attracted the attention of the spiders, and as blood spurted from the horse's neck, the smaller spiders quickly rushed to the dying horse.

Haneul reached Lan Huan, stretched out his hands, and pulled Lan Huan onto the horse. Haneul galloped forward, and the vines summoned by Lan Huan began to kill the spiders in front of him.

Haneul chuckled and said, "I told you so; you need my help to recuse your prince."

After waiting for more than half an hour, Haneul and Lan Huan had not come out of the forest. Sukh wanted to go back to the forest, but he knew that he could not leave Jianjun behind because Jianjun had not returned to normal. He picked up Jianjun and put Jianjun on the horse. He jumped on the same horse as Jianjun. He began to hear rustling sounds coming from deep in the forest, mixed with the sounds of people calling. As the call got closer, Sukh realized the caller was Haneul.

"Sukh, get ready to go!" Haneul shouted when he saw the light ahead. "Get ready to go!"

Lan Huan looked back and found that there were more spiders chasing them now. "Stop shouting, it exposes our position," Lan Huan said angrily.

Haneul said, "Whether our location was revealed or not, they already knew we were planning to leave the forest."

Haneul and Lan Huan rushed out of the forest, Lan Huan said, "Stop..."

Haneul pulled the horse to a stop and asked, "Why? We must leave the forest quickly."

Lan Huan stood in front of the forest and watched hundreds of spiders hissing at them. She presses her thumbnail against the tip of her middle finger and slides her thumbnail across. She pinched her middle finger with her left hand, blood dripped on the ground, and her eyes turned red.

Lan Huan said, "I summoned the eternal frame of the Son of Fire. From here to where I stepped, your flames may rise and seize your preys."

Haneul and Sukh looked at each other and saw hundreds of small dragon flames rising from the ground, flying into the forest, and starting to attack the spider creatures.

Lan Huan turned around and saw the expressions on their faces. "Don't look too surprised," she said. "I wouldn't want to summon the eternal frame if I don't have to."

Haneul asked, "Why not? Looks so powerful." Then he suddenly remembered Zoya's words 'Wherever she goes, death follows'.

Lan Huan said, "Using it, exposed my hiding location."

Sukh asked, "From who?"

Lan Huan said, "From a very dangerous person." Lan Huan saw a green string of energy floating in front of them. "Did anyone give you anything before you went into the forest?"

Haneul said, "Yes, I got this sword as a gentleman's promise from a villager."

Lan Huan asked, "What promise?" She jumped back on the horse.

Haneul chuckled and said, "When I take back my kingdom, I will welcome the villagers here to my kingdom."

They rode out of the forest toward the exit as fire rose from the ground and spread quickly through the forest. Lan Huan and the others left Skull Forest and took fifteen days to reach the Capital City of Magior.

On the outskirts of Magior Capital city, Lan Huan and Jianjun said goodbye to Haneul and Sukh.

Jianjun said, "I indebt my life to you. I can guarantee that Magior will not take the side of others. If one day you need my help, I will help you without hesitation."

Sukh smiled and said, "Thank you, Your Highness." He looked down the hillside and found soldiers marching in their direction. "I guess this is goodbye."

Jianjun smiled and said, "My kingdom will always welcome you. See you next time, my friend." He smiled and slowly walked down the small hill towards the marching soldiers.

Sukh turned around and walked towards Haneul and Lan Huan in the distance.

Lan Huan looked at Haneul's back. "Why can't you accept me?" she asked. "We are most suitable for each other."

Haneul said, "Lady Huan, I appreciate your kindness, but we are not suitable to be lovers. We are more suitable to be good friends."

Lan Huan said, "Is it because you look down on me that I am a slave?"

Haneul said, "No...it doesn't matter whether you are a slave or not. Because I have always regarded you as a good friend, and this feeling will always be like this." Haneul turned around and found that Sukh was already walking towards him. He smiled at Sukh.

Lan Huan said, "Can you give me a reason why we can't be husband and wife?"

Haneul stared at Sukh, turned his head slightly and said, "Because he is my wife. Therefore, no one can take his place." He turned to face Lan Huan. "I believe that one day, you will find the person who is most suitable for you. Only that person is worthy of you as his wife."

Lan Huan just looked at Haneul without saying a word, and then she started to leave Haneul and walk towards Sukh. When she walked past Sukh, she continued to walk away without saying a word to Sulk. Before going down the mountain, she looked back at Sukh and Haneul who were standing under the tall pine trees. She saw Haneul wipe the sweat from Sukh's forehead with his sleeve.

Haneul smiled at Sukh and said, "Dear general, let's go, everyone else has left." He grabbed Sukh's hand, but Sukh quickly pulled away. "Hey, it's been so many days, stop playing the hard-to-get game."

Sukh walked in front of Haneul and said, "Act more proper like a real King."

Lan Huan watched the two men chatting happily and walking further and further away. "Master is right, life is short, cherish every day like it is your last." She muttered, walking down the mountain to join Jianjun and the other soldiers.
