Chapter 2

The door to Holland's apartment unlocked after he inputted his password and was scanned for recognition by the security system on the door. He opened the door and the lights came on exposing his moderately future furniture sitting room with a bookshelf separating it from the kitchen, it also contained a working space and a fire place. The temperature and a motivating speech read themselves before a cool country music played in low volume from his speaker as the fire place light up and an Al taking the form of a male holographic figure walked out from the wall near the door welcoming him and asked how his day went. Holland ignored the Al, dropped his bag on his work table and asking him if he has any message while walking into the kitchen, Holland brings out ice from the fridge which he now breaks with little difficulty, the music stopped playing and the messages played from his telephone mentioning the name of the sender before the message and skipped a message when Holland uninterested said "pass". The Al walked into the kitchen through the book self and asked what Holland would want to eat and immediately the gas cook automatically turned on and ready to cook as a list of delicacies showed on the screen of the fridge. Holland turned down the offer again saying that he as work to down as he pour the broken ice into a glass and walked through the Al to get his alcohol from the cupboard, he opened it and poured it into his glass and the gas cook switched off as he walked out to his work table in the work space. The Al appeared close to Holland and told him someone came by looking for him and left a video recording, Holland asked if the person left any ID and the Al answered DR. Queen .S. William. Holland's eyes widened in surprise as he heard the name because his mother finally remembered that she has a son and has come looking after 10 years since he ran away from home when she choose to stay married to a man who maltreats her after his father's sudden disappearance in space along with his crew while testing earth's first space ship with light speed. Although many researches show that they are trapped in an unknown era, Holland never believed.

Holland asked the Al to play it while he starts to bring out his things from his bag and keeping them on the side of the screen on the table and getting ready to carryout his work. His television which was totally made of glass and 8mm tick turned on to show clear camera footage of a woman in her early sixties standing in front of his door adjusting her dress before pressing on the recording button on the security system beside his door to record what she was saying and she began speaking with a sober tone.Holland, it's been so long since you left home and mama misses you so much......" On hearing this Holland stopped what he was doing for a moment and raised his face up slowly as he recognized the voice, the woman continued speaking. "I know you hate me now and you have every reason to, I'm sorry for letting you go. I practically chased you..... the only family I have left away and I'm really really sorry for that. You know..... it hasn't been easy for me since your father disappeared and you running away from home made the pain even worse. I should have listened to you about Jon but I was just too scared to loose a second chance of you having a father and for me to be made whole again and since Jon Was the only available person who also was a very good friend of your father, I thought he was the right person. I'm sorry I took his side even when he tortured and cheated on me countless times. I'm sorry for choosing him over you and allowing you to leave but the truth is I did that only because he threatened to do something bad to you if I refused to let you go. But he is dead now, he died few days back which I'm sure that by now you must have heard of it from the news , I now have nothing to fear that's why I have come to ask you to come back home. I will be coming back in a few weeks time cause I have to go to Antarctica for a business trip tomorrow. I just want to let you know that Mommy still loves and will always love you" She cleans her eyes again then brought out her contact card and placed it near the security system to upload her contact to the house then left. The Al asked the now sober Holland if he wanted him to contact her but he refused the proposal with difficulty using his work as a cover up.

Holland turned on the work table and holographic figures showed slightly above it as he started bringing out the samples he collected and placing all of them on the table. He place the little piece of metal at the center of the table and holographic electrons ran on it as it stood erect and started processing it's different properties. Holland looked at the translator to find the writing the same without any form of change, he asked the Al why it was so and the Al answered him saying that the translator can't translate ancient languages or languages from deep space and asked Holland to send it to his mainframe, he did and the write ups showed on the work table with the writing on the front part of the machine on one side and the one behind on another all in a box holographic form sticked to each other and rearranging themselves to the nearest possible language. The results from the metal came out and he moved it close removing the writing, it showed that the metal is made from the combination of different metals that are non existing to man with large amounts of asteroid particles on it. Holland asked the Al to tell him something he doesn't know like it's origin, the Al tried but couldn't saying the metal was too old and every record it has diminished from the damage except for only one footage which played on the screen. The footage showed it was moving towards earth very briefly then been hit by a pile of fire which was moving past the earth and they feel down the earth separating, the footage finished as the machine got on flame when it got to the earth's surface and Holland couldn't really make sense of this. The letters started to translate to ancient languages that are nearest in meaning to the letters, translating to a Greek alphabet Holland recognized it and started separating them until the last word then he translated them to readable English words and was shocked at the meaning of the words. At the front the words meantWorld's doom and behind World's creater. He then brought out the pictures which he has now printed out into x-ray picture length and joined them on the table then an hologram of the full machine showed above, he asked to know the exact age of the machine on earth with it's mass and the results showed between 65.5 to 66 million years and approximately 7.6e17kg in mass when crashing from the sky. "Oh my God.....!"Holland exclaimed as It then dawned on him that the machine was responsible for the destruction of the dinosaurs along with other large terrestrial animals and shaping the earth to what we know. With this, he rushed back to the uncompleted transport station.

The elevator to the uncompleted transport station opened and Holland came out to find the machine undergoing repair in the now opened crater. He ran toward them yelling for them to stop but he is been stopped by the official who looked like he was parking out carrying a box containing his stuffs. Holland asked the official why the machine was undergoing repair when he specifically told him not to do anything concerning the machine until he got back, the official told him that the instruction was given by the new head of the operation and he has been relieved of the position since the government felt they were not getting enough results from him, Holland requested to meet the new head and the official pointed to a man that walked in from his new office. Holland rushed to him with the official behind and he told the new head to withdraw his men but he refused at first but agreed after Holland told him of his finding. The machine was left incompletely repaired and Holland felt relaxed. A worker working directly above the machine on the ceiling accidentally hurts himself with his tool and he gave out a little cry of pain as drops of blood fell down and dropped on top of the R like symbol on the machine, the blood got sucked in and as Holland and the official were about entering the elevator the machine switched on and everyone looked at it surprised and soon it started attracting it's broken parts to itself including the little piece Holland took then gave out a suddenly blinding flash of light that shutdown every electronic and machine including phones and flashlights throughout the world. The uncompleted transport station became densely dark and the elevator stopped working with the flying machines carrying tools falling and everyone struggled to move out of harm's way while covering their heads and some stayed low to avoid been hit. An aeroplane flying with passengers carrying out its regular activities also experienced power failure and started crashing, the pilot tried everything he could and even turned on the newly installed emergency safety flight system but all to no avail as the engines stopped working in half way and the passengers started panicking with luggage's falling off. Power suddenly came back on and every electronic on earth started working again, power also came back on in the aeroplane and the pilot pulled it back with the aid of the emergency safety systems as it was only a few feet away from crashing. Everyone in the transport station started standing up and the new head asked. what the hell just happened?. An alien timer written in alien language surfaced on the machine and Holland walked closer. The beginning of what is about befall us., Holland answered looking back at them dreadfully.
