Chapter 89 ( Gari's progress)

(Gari's Pov)

It was another challenging and long day as I ran through my area, which I now call hell.

I am jumping from tree to tree, trying my best not to draw attention to myself hoping that that would be enough for me to survive the day without seeing sensei.

A broken leg, broken arm, and first and second-degree burns were just some of the injuries I have gotten from fighting against sensei this month, he really didn't take it easy on us. At first, I looked forward to it, but after a whole month of high-intensity fighting, I just wanted it to be over.

Maybe it was because no matter what I did, I couldn't even land a single hit on him while his clone was limited to the lowest level of chunin strength, if I could land just one hit it would at least make me feel like I was making some progress.

As Gari jumps from tree to tree heading deeper into his area, he was clearly distracted by his own thoughts and wasn't keeping a track of what was happening around him, and that was a big mistake.

WHOOSH!!!

A shadow appeared behind Gari as it reached to grab him, Gari however had better instincts than a month ago.

BOOM!!

An explosion went off under Gari's feet as he propelled himself out of reach, then he flipped around to face his attacker.

And with no surprise, Ren, or at least a clone of him landed about fifteen feet in front of Gari.

"Sensei." Gari mumbled.

But Ren didn't speak, his eyes didn't hold the emotion a teacher should have while looking at his students, right now his eyes contained only killing intent.

As Ren didn't answer him Gari was used to it by now, the clone wouldn't speak and it would show mercy, once it had the chance it would attack any opening shown would be taken advance of, and Gari knew this.

As the two continue to stare at each other waiting for someone to make the first move, Gari suddenly takes a step forward.

In almost the same second, four explosions went off under Gari's feet, two under each foot as the ground sunk and shattered Gari was already gone appearing above Ren almost instantly.

One of his hands pointed down to Ren while the other pointed into the distance.

Two more explosions went off far louder, and more powerful than the last four, the strength of the explosion managed to knock down the small number of trees in the immediate area as dust filled the area.

Gari dropped into the hole created by his explosion, but he didn't stick around, as soon as he touched the ground another explosion occurred sending him into the distance.

As he was hurling through the air, out of nowhere a hand reach out grabbing his shirt.

An explosion occurred under the feet of the clone of Ren sending them towards a mountain, Ren threw Gari forward and then stretched out both hands.

"Explosion release: wide range explosion."

BOOM!!

Gari's body that was hurled towards the cliff was consumed in the explosion, as the explosion spread out blasting off a small piece of the mountain.

The clone stared at the explosion 'substitution jutsu.'

So the clone didn't stick in place and flickered in mid-air to the ground.

As he landed a palm appeared behind his head. and with no hesitation.

BOOM!!!

The clone had managed to bend back a complete ninety degrees as the explosion passed above him burning the shirt it was wearing, but even before the explosion was over the clone made another move, dropping directly to his back the clone quickly brought up his foot to Gari chest as he was standing behind the clone when he launched the attack, so with his foot to his chest.

BOOM!!!

With no time to react, Gari took the brunt of the explosion and was sent flying, knocking down four trees but still didn't stop, he stretched out his hand behind him and.

BOOM!!!

He produced an explosion that increased his speed, clearly, he had decided on fleeing for the moment, and it looked to be the best choice he was already low on chakra he could feel his ribs were cracked from that attack and his chest had serious burns that needed to be dealt with.

Seeing this the clone quickly followed using his explosions to propel him towards the fleeing Gari while also using smaller explosions to change directions and dodge trees and huge stones.

Gari was also doing the same thing, but it was clearly not on the same level as the clone, the chase had only started two minutes ago and yet the clone was already close to Gari as he had hit some trees and stones as he couldn't change direction fluidly.

Suddenly the clone stopped on a tree and quickly put his two wrists together and opened it forward.

"Explosion release: Smaller scale big bang."

This explosion was much stronger than any used in the fight so far, it also had a bigger range as it completely swallowed the body of Gari who was still fleeing as the clone stopped to the jutsu.

The whole area was covered in the explosion as a powerful wind current spread out leaving the entire area covered in dust and falling pieces of trees and stone.

But the clone stood still, as his breathing was now very heavy, showing how tired he was using that jutsu will the little chakra he had, currently the clone couldn't use chakra so it would say still and recover before going back to hunt down Gari.

So the clone sat down on the beach he was standing on, only to feel a sting on his chest.

He looked down to see the shirt had been burned away from Gari's earlier attack leaving pieces of the shirt burned onto his skin.

Seeing this a smile appeared on the clone's face.
