36- Rescue Mission (3)

Noah had kept on following the well hidden marks left by the spy. He kept on sneaking around until he found himself on the northern edge of the mountain range.

Noah followed the last of the marks until he reached an area with a whole bunch of massive boulders. Each one of the boulders was as big as a house. All the boulders had the same exact shape and size. Someone had clearly made these, maybe an earth mage.

Noah had to search for an hour before he found a boulder that had a hidden sign. Noah reached the sign and touched it. He then injected a certain amount of mana into the sign. The sign lit up for a fraction of a second. A minute later a woman in her thirties with dull purple hair and black eyes crawled out of another boulder nearby.

"I take it your the rescue?" - She said

"Yes. Lets go immediately" - Noah said as he walked towards the lady

"Ok" - She nodded her head.

[Noah, how about we do this. Instead of sneaking around the grand magic zone, how about we go into Dragon Surge and fly up in the sky at a fast speed. So high that none of the mages can sense us, and even if they do, they won't be able to fly that high on their brooms. And then we can take off at our top speed back home] - Draco

[Sure. That will scare her a bit, but that's better than having to fight a whole division] - Noah

"You ready to go? This will be very fast so brace yourself" - Noah looked at the woman. She looked at Noah for a second before she nodded her head

{Dragon Surge} - Noah chanted as the air vibrated. A black draconic wing came out of Noah's back. He grabbed the woman in his arms. Noah bent his legs slightly and when he pushed, he was already a thousand meters in the air. Noah turned towards the south-west direction. Once he flapped his wing, he had crossed a huge distance.

Noah's senses told him that the other people in the mountain range were flying at top speed towards the area with all the matching boulders. they had felt the huge mana that came out of Noah when he went into his dragon surge. Noah had let his mana leak a little when he transformed. This left mana in the area which was so bug that the mages thought that a person was there, then he concealed his mana again. When he moved, the mages felt the mana in the boulder area, but didn't feel any mana source moving.

By the time that mages had finished searching the area with the matching boulders, Noah had the Clover kingdom's boarder patrol base in his sight. A minute later and Noah had landed just outside the base. He canceled his dragon surge and put the woman down.

"Halt! State your name and purpose for being here!" - The mage on one of the tours said as he aimed his wand at Noah and the woman next to him.

"My name is Noah Silva. I'm coming back from a mission. Tell captain Marcus that I'm back and he will handle the rest" - Noah

"Hold here. If you move, you will be shot and killed on the spot" - The mage said

"I highly doubt that, but whatever" - Noah mumbled to himself

The mage had said something to another mage next to him. The second mage left and a few minutes later, he was back and captain Marcus was standing next to him.

"Ah! Sir Noah. Let him in! Welcome back sir" - Marcus greeted Noah at the same time as he ordered the mages to let him in

The gate to the base opened, Noah and the woman walked in. After wards they went towards Marcus' office.

"So I take it that your mission was a success. I expect no less from a royal" - Marcus laughed

"Thank you sir. I would like to bring her back to the wizard king, so I have to leave right away. I appreciate your hospitality so far" - Noah said as he turned to leave

"Have a good day" - The woman said to Marcus before she followed Noah

[I don't like this man] - Draco

[Neither do I. But there is nothing we can do about it. I'm sure he's leaking our movement to someone] - Noah

Noah and the woman were now inside the clover territory, so they didn't have to worry about getting spotted. Noah just made a black eagle, which the two boarded and took off towards the capital.

The black eagle was much slower than his dragon surge, but this was better, since he didn't want to carry the woman in his arms the whole way.

After some more time, Noah can see the capital. He flew right towards the magic HQ. Just a few meters away from the building, Noah and the woman landed, and went in through the front door.

Noah lead the woman to the wizard king office.

*Knock Knock*

"Come in"

Noah opened the door to see Julius sitting behind his desk, in front of him was Nozel. It seemed that the two were having a meeting.

"Hello sir, hey big bro Nozel. Sorry for interrupting, but I have brought our spy back from the diamond kingdom. I just wanted to submit the mission" - Noah

"No apologies needed. Nozel was here for the spy. She's a member of his squad, so I asked for him to be here when you brought her back" - Julius

"Sirs!" - The woman saluted both her captain and wizard king.

"At ease" - Nozel

"If you would excuse me. If I'm not needed here anymore, I'll just go back to the black bulls base" - Noah

"Sure thing. Also write a mission report and send it to me within the next day or so. Oh! I almost forgot. Come back here tomorrow morning. You have been chosen to go on another dungeon expedition. You will have your team meeting here tomorrow at 9:00 am. Don't be late" - Julius smiled at Noah

Noah deadpanned at Julius, "Seriously? Can't I get a day off?"

"You started to sound like Yami. On no, he might be rubbing off on you" - Julius

"*Sigh* No worries sir. I will be here on time tomorrow" - Noah forced a smile on his face as saluted and turned around to leave. Just as he exited from the building, he remembered something important.

Noah turned around and went back to the office. Nozel had already started sifting through the things the woman had brought with her.

"Did you forget something Noah?" - Julius

"Yes sir. I forgot to mention that the captain of the border patrol squad, his name was Marcus Synth if I remember correctly. Anyway I have feeling that the man is a traitor in one way or another. I have no evidence, but I can feel his intentions, and they were not good. If possible to keep a closer eye on him in secret, that would be good" - Noah

"Humm...Mereoleona had said something similar when she met him... Nozel, pick one of your squad members fit to join the boarder patrol and keep an eye on them from the inside" - Julius looked at Nozel

"Yes sir" - Nozel nodded

"Good. Tell them to be ready in 10 days. There would be a test for people to join the boarder patrol, they will join them then" - Julius

"Alright that should be all. Thank you sir" - Noah saluted one more time before he turned around an left to go back to his base.

Once he got back, he was greeted by the squad. The usual shenanigans as always. He had to dodge some of Magana's fire balls. He was happy to take some of Charmy's food, even though she chased him around the base for it, but he was hungry. Charmy gave up after she said that she got hungry again. As if she's not always hungry

Asta was shouting at the wall, saying something like he will have a head strong enough to break through it, or something. Noah didn't see captain Yami, he assumed he's in the toilet. Noelle was the only normal person in the whole building. She greeted Noah like a normal person.

Noah made his way to the stairs that lead to the second floor, just to see a passed out Venessa. She was sat on the steps with empty bottles around her.

"FINRAL" - Noah had to shout over the ruckus

"WHAT" - Finral answered back.

"COME HELP HER" - Noah

"WHAT?" - Finral couldn't hear Noah

"COME HERE" - Noah decided to just have him come over.

Finral tried to walk across the room, but he almost lost his hair from the Magna's fire balls. He then opened a portal next to Noah.

"You called me?" - Finral asked as he stepped out of the portal.

"Help her please. Teleport her to the couch or something" - Noah

"She's such a pain" - Finral said as he opened a portal under Venessa, she fell through the portal and landed on the couch. Even as she fell, she didn;t even wake up a bit. "Just how drunk is she" - Noah couldn't help but ask

After that Noah went to his room. He wanted to be somewhere quite so that he can write the mission report and send it to the mage HQ before he can go to bed.

It took Noah twenty minutes to write the full report. It usually takes more than that to write a typical mission report, but since the mission was quite short and with no hiccups the mission report was quite straight forward to write.

After sending the report to the mage HQ, Noah deicide to back down stairs. Captain Yami had came out of the toilet by then.

"You're back. How did the mission go?" - Yami asked once he saw Noah

"The mission that you stuck on me, went just fine" - Noah

"Hahaha! I knew that you can do it kid, I would've killed you if you failed, but whatever. Oh right, Julius wants you for a dungeon exploration mission" - Yami

"I was told" - Noah grumbled

"Hahaha. Don't be down, the whole squad is working hard" - Just as Yami said that, Venessa woke up and started shouting that she wants more wine. At the same exact moment, the small table between Yami and Noah, was struck with a lightning strike from Luck. Then a fire ball came and struck the leftover from the table and completely burnt it into ashes.

During the whole thing, Noah had kept eye contact with Yami. He had a deadpan expression on his face. "I see"

After getting yelled at by Yami, the whole squad finally decided to go to sleep for the night.
