Tess stopped staring at the two guards laughing themselves silly. To turn her back, she had to lift her feet so the spikes below her boots came out of the dents in the concrete. That was how hard she stamped down but it did the trick. Instead of summoning a sword, she took the time to think.
Two dead bodies at the entrance would make a scene and scare away everyone and her two targets. So would barging in there. She had to be stealthy and use her brains, not her fists to win that mission. Nothing was to hold her back from becoming the best of the guardians.
She broke off the gold ball on top of one of the stanchions she passed and lifted it to her face. The reflection of the laughing guards on its curved surface made her lips curl up. Those damn MS tools. Her next action was for Jeremy.
The loud conk after she threw the ball behind her to hit one of the guards, got followed with a thud. Tess glimpsed back to see one of the guards flat on the ground.
