7 The Devil's Contract

Chiyoda, Tokyo.

In the south of Chiyoda City was a white marble building exuding a grand level of awe and majesty. It was the structure central to all political activity in Japan.

The National Diet Building.

Before the entrance of the imperial parliament were the Prime Minister's entourage and security police awaiting their guest.

The entourage mainly consisted of politicians from the Prime Minister's party. On the other hand, the security police were among the few exempted by the quirk law.

"Tengen Conglomerate wants to have a meeting with the Prime Minister."

"Tengen? Those isolationist?"

"Yes, I'm sure the meeting was Tengen-san's suggestion."

"I'm surprised the executives actually agreed with it."

"That's right. This is why the Prime Minister expresses immense importance in this meeting."

"The Tengen Conglomerate is an economic and political warehouse despite its isolationist status. And the amount of connections Tengen-san has is amongst the greatest."

"We'll have to tread with care, huh?"

Two politicians within the Prime Minister's entourage discussed with each other. Their conversation was overheard by many party members, making the political sharks smell the scents of opportunity.

Five minutes passed, and a convoy of four black BMWs and a dark limousine arrived in front of the National Diet Building.

As the convoy stopped near the entrance of the imperial parliament, dozens of black-suited men stepped out of the BMWs.

Amongst them was the CEO of the Tengen Conglomerate, which was highly unusual. After all, why would the CEO be in a random BMW? And who's in the dark limousine?

Tengen walked towards the limousine with the executives of the Conglomerate following behind him.

As he stood before the dark limousine, Tengen opened the door while the executives stood at the sides.

The Prime Minister's entourage turned their focus to the one stepping out of the dark limousine. What emerged from the limousine was a devilishly gorgeous lady clad in a jet-black suit and dark slack pants.

Her scarlet crimson hair trickled on her back as it glistened along the morning light. A hypnotic gaze escaped from her lustrous golden irises.

She exuded the opulence and regality of a ruler.

It took some time for the Prime Minister's entourage to break free from their trance. And when they did, they were left questioning the beauty's identity.

"Who is she?"

"Is she a part of the Tengen Conglomerate?"

"Even Tengen-san is treating her with respect."

"I thought he was the owner?"

But before they could continue talking, the leader of the entourage coldly looked at them and warned.

"Act calm and don't ask questions."

"We are only here to guide them."

"The Prime Minister expects great importance of our conducts."

With the cold warnings of their leader, the entourage was forced to shut up and conduct their behaviors properly.

The gorgeous crimson-haired goddess walked towards the Prime Minister's entourage.

No one would expect the prideful executives to humbly follow behind her. Even the legendary Tengen was beside her like a good servant.

As the two groups stood before one another, the leader of the entourage modestly bowed and respectfully greeted the guest.

"It's an honor to meet all of you."

Tengen nodded in acceptance and stepped forward.

"You are in the presence of Lady Makima, the master of Tengen Conglomerate."

The words of Tengen shook the politicians down to their core. The beautiful goddess in front of them was the honor of a business empire? When? How? Was she related to Tengen-san?

"It is my privilege and honor to meet you, Lady Makima."

Since he was the leader of the entourage, he was a professional politician who knew how to adapt regardless of the situation. Adaptation and obedience were good shields for a politician.

Makima nodded with his greeting, which made the leader smile.

"Why don't we guide you?"

"The Prime Minister is waiting in his office."

The leader of the entourage guided their guests through the interiors of the National Diet Building. As they passed through several distinctive and gorgeous sights of the imperial parliament, they soon arrived at the Prime Minister's office.

Before the guests were invited into the office, the entourage entered first. The leader kept the door open, and then the guests from the Tengen Conglomerate entered.

Makima and his dogs found themselves in an intriguing yet simplistic office. The Prime Minister sat in front of them along with security police as per protocols.

"Tengen-san, it has been a while since we last met."

"Kumio-san, why don't we get a drink after this?"

The two acted like old friends, which was likely true.

The Prime Minister, Kumio Yishida, glances at Makima and gives a welcoming smile. He was already informed by the members of his party regarding the identity of the beautiful lady.

Lady Makima, The Master of Tengen Conglomerate.

It wasn't too hard to believe, especially with how his old friend typically acted. However, he didn't expect his old friend's boss to be so young.

"Now, what may I assist you with, Lady Makima?"

With the question of the Prime Minister, the politicians within his party looked at Makima with curiosity.

Makima just smiled and replied while crossing her legs.

"I have something that you may find interesting, Kumio-san."

After she uttered such words, an executive brought a briefcase with a biometric scanner. He placed it on the table between the two groups.

Makima rested her fingers on the fingerprint scanner, and the briefcase immediately opened.

Inside the briefcase was one file that contained the external and internal problems of the Japanese Government. These were state secrets that should never be known by a third party.

The executive took out the file and gave it to the Prime Minister.

Kumio raised an eyebrow and received the file without that many questions. He began reading it, and his expression turned into shock, then horror.

He couldn't believe what he was reading, but even he knew some of these secrets, and they were accurate.

"What do you want from the Government, Lady Makima?"

Kumio became direct since he knew there was no use in acting like a politician. The one before him clearly wouldn't give all the secrets she had learned. Who knows about the things she was aware of.

"I value peace the most, Kumio-san."

"I don't want Japan to be ravaged amid a war between the old and new."

"But as you know."

"There must be a price for the things I do."

Makima sighed as if she had her hands tied.

But as one would say, a Devil always says what its prey wants to hear the most. Her words, enshrouded with sweetness, were tinged with poison.

Kumio felt his instincts as a politician to not believe the words that escaped her supple mouth. But for some reason, he felt inclined to agree with her.

He didn't know how or why.

"What is it that you suggest, Lady Makima?"

"Why don't we create a contract, Kumio-kun."

Makima tilted her head with a sincere smile that made the party members of the Prime Minister unable to question her words.

All of them had already been poisoned, and the Devil was merely playing with them.

"How should I create this contract, Lady Makima?"

"Easy."

Makima clapped her pale hands and continued.

"Say my ###### and state what you want."

"I shall give the price. Then, we will come to an agreement."

The echoing, soothing words made it hard for anyone in the room to think rationally or logically.

"I see..."

Kumio nodded in understanding and took a deep breath. His heart was screaming to stop whatever he was planning to do, but there was no stopping it. It was as if it was his long-awaited call.

"Conquest Devil! I want your power and authority to protect Japan from external or internal threats."

Hearing the words of the Prime Minister, Makima's smile got wider and wider.

"Protecting the entirety of Japan from external or internal threats? That is a tough desire, Kumio-kun."

"I shall state my price."

"Any death-inducing or existence-erasing attacks inflicted on the Conquest Devil Makima, regardless of intentions, are transferred into an appropriate illness or ailment affecting a random citizen of Japan."

"How's that? Fair, right?"

Makima was pleased with how things were going. It was much easier than she thought. But it was partly because of her Conquest.

Without it, things would have been problematic but still possible.

"Sounds fair, Lady Makima."

"I believe someone as great as you will rarely die."

"So, I'll agree with this price."

Kumio had already fallen under Makima's control along with the members of his party. Even the security police in the office weren't spared.

"Good choice, Kumio-kun."

"Then, I'll accept the contract."

With such words, Makima felt something being written in the essence of her existence. It appears that contracts really were absolute.

Makima couldn't stop smiling like a child who got her first PlayStation 5. Though, in an instant, she managed to regain hold of her emotions.

After all... No matter how delighted Makima was, she mustn't display such things to others.

Under this thought process, Makima managed to calm herself down. She took a deep breath and smirked at the Prime Minister, who felt satisfied.

It was not like he didn't get anything from the contract.

Having a Control Devil in the deck was a good move for Japan. Besides, how much would the Control Devil die? And if he doesn't accept it, wouldn't Lady Makima go to another country with the same deal?

He took an opportunity that he believed would be great for Japan.

"Since the contract has been created, why don't we discuss more about our topic?"

Makima looked at the Prime Minister with a hypnotic gaze.
