9 Guardian

Kyle went down the stairs and floors quickly, curious as to what the girl was still doing. On the 1st floor, he saw the skeletons still dead with their head smashed.

He saw the girl sitting in the corner. She had her eyes closed. Her blue robe had a cut on the belly with lots of dried blood; her pure white pearly skin could be seen from the cut of the robe. The wound was already gone.

He went there with loud steps so that she would wake up before he reached too close. And it worked, her eyes opened slowly, but when she saw the same skeleton that had killed her group approaching, she flinched.

"A-AH! Stay away!!" She tried to move back while crawling, finding herself already in a corner.

"Calm down, kid. Didn't you realize I spared your life? Why are you not leaving?"

The girl looked at the skeleton with tears in her eyes. In her eyes, the skeleton was talking too much like a human.

"Y-You can kill me now if you w-want; it doesn't matter as I will die in both places."

Kyle frowned at her remark. She would rather die by his hand than leave?

"How so?" He couldn't hold his curiosity.

"Our group had taken a lot of loan from a black-market organization. Unfortunately, we couldn't pay it back on time, so…now we were stuck with doing free dungeon hunts for them. With both Trion and Zekil gone, they will just kill me on my ret-COUGH!"

The girl started coughing furiously. From the sound, Kyle felt like her throat was just too dry.

'Let me see.....' He purchased some water from the shop. Kyle looked in his inventory and found a folded leaf with water inside.

"Here.."

The girl looked at the extended hand of the skeleton with a cone in its hand. She took it from him with a shivering hand to avoid offending it. Her eyes shone, looking at the content inside the cone; Water!

She gulped it down furiously, her coughing vanished, and kyle didn't know whether o laugh or cry looking at the satisfied face of the girl.

She took her time feeling the water inside her mouth before gulping the last sip. Reality hit her quickly as she looked at the skeleton with wariness again.

"Hahahahha….you're interesting!" Kyle roared in laughter. The girl looked at his mouth open and close, making the sound of two solids hitting.

"Now, tell me, what should I do with you?"

The girl didn't answer back; even Kyle had his emotions in turmoil.

'She can't leave the dungeon, and I have not talked with someone sane for a long time. Damn, I even made a habit of talking to myself!' Kyle thought, feeling the need to protect his mental health and not become insane.

"Liste here, little gir-"

"Alicia," She interrupted Kyle in between and said in a confident voice

"Woah, not scared of me now? Cutting my sentence in between." kyle asked while trying to grin, but it just looked like the skeleton was hungry to Alicia.

"Might as well die proudly."

"Good, you have courage. Now I will ask you some questions and you will answer them clearly"

The girl looked at Kyle for a while and nodded.

"You are a healer, aren't you?" Kyle asked and got a nod from her in exchange.

"You can destroy my skeletons and probably me too with your light attacks…..right?"

"I just got the book of healing a month back, so my skills are not that high level. So they can't do much on you.."

"Books?"

"Oh, you don't know this, but the creatures inside of the dungeons that are above level 10 give good stuff like books of various abilities, gear, and weapons."

'What, when did this happen?'

"You can use these books even though you are only level 4?"

"Anybody can use this," She said while tilting her head.

"Well, I have decided something, and you shall get a choice again. Either be with me in this dungeon, or I will throw you outside of the dungeon myself."

"What!?" She shouted with her eyes wide open.

"You will let me live with you?"

"Yes, but at the condition that you change your fighting style."

Alicia looked at him for a while, emotions unknown. But at last, her face became serious, and she finally made her decision.

"I don't know how this works, but I shall be your subordinate. But…will I have to kill humans too?"

She asked with panicked eyes; she hadn't killed a single human till now and didn't plan to do it in the future.

"The job of killing the humans will be mine; you will just have to go with me in the dungeon raids."

Before Alicia could react, he waved his hand, wanting silence, and stared at the notification he got just a second ago.

[Contract between an outer dungeon creature detected

Type of relation with the dungeon

-Guardian

-Slave

-Partner]

Kyle looked at the notification with a frown; it seemed the dungeon was taking their relationship too seriously.

"Now It's a more important decision. Do you wish to stay here?"

"Yes!" Alicia said with confidence. It kind of looked cute to Kyle.

"Then I shall now grant you the title of the dungeon's Guardian!" he clicked the button.

Alicia got a notification that made her eyes wide. She was now a dungeon's Guardian! Unbelievable!

[1st Guardian of the Dungeon formed]

[ +20 Mana for the Guardian Alicia]

"I will now show you where I live; come with me."

They both went up in quick steps, Alicia looked at everything in a new light. She was now the guardian of the dungeon and got this role from an intelligent-speaking dungeon boss.

They reached the 4th floor where she saw the growing soil at the center with surprise. kyle chuckled and started telling her his long story.
