Fated Encounter

Kayla gets off the elevator, and her long blue navy dress feels suffocating. She stumbles a bit in her heels and makes her way to the entrance of the apartment building. She notices that it is down pouring but she feels numb and doesn't care. The security guard nods his head at her as she walks out the door. Kayla walks into the rain and finally lets the tears she has been holding in, out. She slips off her shoes and walks barefoot on the wet pavement. She ignores those who hide undercover with their umbrellas, the rain feels good on her skin and hides the pain in her eyes.

Kayla smirks to herself at the thought of how scary her face looks, but the thought quickly vanishes as the pain in her heart beats out of her chest. She stops for a moment and drops her shoes on the pavement, she fishes out a hair tie from her small handbag. She ties her long black hair into a ponytail. She grabs her shoes and continues to aimlessly walk towards a destination unknown.

As the rain starts to lighten up, Kayla spots a glowing sign in the gloomy late afternoon. It was a bar, "Welcome to the End." This made her chuckle, as she felt like her life was ending. Kayla shrugs her shoulders and walks to the bar.

The cool air greats Kayla as she walks inside the dimly lit bar, there were only a few other people spread out around the tables and no one at the bar countertop. She glances at her watch, even though it is dark because of the rain, it's still early afternoon.

She shrugs her shoulders and walks to the countertop; her dress is completely soaked, and her hair is dripping wet. Her concerns right now were not about how wet she was, but she wanted to get the burning sensation down her throat and ease the pain that is eating at her heart. Kayla wants alcohol and being dry was the last thing she wanted.

A bartender walks over to her, he was older with gray hair and wrinkles that tell the story of his life. He gives Kayla a gentle smile while handing a small hand towel to her.

"Hi Miss, please use this. It looks like you are having a rough day. Let me grab you a drink while you dry off." The older man walks to the other side of the bar and Kayla dry's her hair and wipes her face.

She was glad she wasn't going to get kicked out, she rests her head on her hands. Kayla closes her eyes and tries to forget everything that she witnessed earlier. The ache in her heart just feels like someone is gripping it while twisting it.

Clank!

Kayla opens her eyes and sees a glass of whiskey in front of her. She smiles up at the bartender and he nods his head. He walks away and without a second to spare, she grabs the cold glass and downs her drink. She feels a presence on her right side, and she glances over. A man in a navy suit sits next to her. He had brown hair, with light brown eyes, but what took Kayla by surprise the most was how handsome he was.

She can see the muscle screaming from his suit, his aura was on another level. It was dangerous, tempting, and downright imitating.

He glances toward Kayla, he flashes her a killer smile.

"Isn't it a little early for day drinking?" He said with an accent that Kayla can't put her finger on. She can feel her cheeks blush with heat, and she quickly avoids his gaze.

She glances at the bartender; he was on the opposite side, and she waves at him. He comes over to her and while still avoiding the man beside her she looks up at the bartender.

"Can I get another drink?" She needs more alcohol to deal with another man today.

As the bartender sets down her drink, she chugs it down. She can still feel the heat of his gaze on her. She knew she had to face him; she can sense that he won't leave her alone until she acknowledges him.

Kayla musters her strength and turns to look at him, he has a smirk on his face, and she felt the need to roll her eyes at him.

"Look, I am not in the mood to get hit on, and nor do I want company right now. I had it up to here with men today. Now if you please excuse me, I want some alone time." She quickly looks away from him

He lets out a roaring laugh, and before she knew it, he was across from her, behind the bar.

"You look like a wet cat who got stuck in the rain, who might look feisty but is just all talk. My dear kitty cat, I own this bar." He leans down on his elbows and Kayla felt the space around her shrink.

"Now, I heard a sad little wet thing come into my bar and I couldn't resist seeing who it was. To my surprise, you are more than I expected." He grins down at her, and Kayla's heart rate escalates.

Damn, she thought to herself.

He bends down a bit closer to her, he tucks some of her hair behind her ear. Kayla didn't even flinch but welcomed the gesture.

"I can't have a little cat look so miserable at my bar, upstairs I have an apartment I let my employees use. I have extra clothes you can use, please use them to go change." He steps back and slides her a key. Kayla didn't know what to do, she should say no thank you and leave.

But something is telling her not to decline his help, his aura is seriously dangerous. She slides off the bar stool and grabs the key.

"Thanks, I'll be quick." He nods his head with acknowledgment.

"Great, those doors over there will lead you upstairs." He says to her with a menacing grin.

She scurries away as quickly as possible and makes her way to the upstairs apartment.

Leo laughs to himself as he watches the women walk away, he couldn't help but tease the poor thing. He came to the bar to check on things. But what he didn't expect was a woman drenched with rain to walk in. Even though she was completely soaked, you can tell how beautiful she is. Her black hair was tied back, but what took his breath away was her blue eyes. With her darker complexion, her eyes stood out even more.

Buzz, Buzz!

"What?" Leo grumbles into the phone as he answers.

"Boss, we have a situation at the estate." The man said to him.

Leo lets out a groan, he didn't want to leave just yet. He wanted to see what the mysterious woman would look like after being cleaned up.

"What is the situation?" He asks, maybe if it isn't serious. He could call his right-hand man, Frank. He could handle it. Leo nods to himself at the plan.

"I'm sorry boss, but it's Madam Foyer. She is causing trouble, and you know how the lower rank feels about her." The young man says to Leo.

Damn it, so much for staying, Leo grumbles to himself.

"Tell my mother I'll be on the way. But for the love of God, don't let her have anything to drink!" He ends the call and glances at the door, where the blue-eyed women went too.

He curses to himself; his mom is nothing but a pain in the a** to Leo. There are two things that his late father left him after he died.

The first thing was that he oversaw taking care of his mom, no matter what she wanted or needed. Leo had to fulfill his mom's wishes. The members of the family can't handle her, especially when she drinks.

The last thing his father left him was a title and a business.

He was a boss, the main honcho, the capo. He oversaw the biggest business in the country.

He was a mafia boss.
