Running in the hallways

[Run!]

My dad...

How many years has it been since I've seen my father...?

[Lance, Run!]

The last memory I had of him was of being put to sleep in my bed after getting so tired playing with someone that I could barely keep myself standing.

But once I woke up the following morning, I was in a completely different place, surrounded by people I hardly recognized, and being told that this was going to be where I would live from now on.

[Lance, get out of here!]

I had no idea of what was going on or why, all I knew was that everything was happening because my father wished it to be so.

For so long I wondered why my father left me and my mother behind. Nobody ever gave me a real explanation, only telling me that it would be the best for me and that one day we could be together again if only I was patient.

That's right...

Together again...

This was the thing that I was forgetting!

My mother promised me that once I turned fifteen, I would be able to see my father again.

[Lance!]

But now this person appeared...

This weird guy with a disturbing smile...

Is he the one that will bring me to my father? Should I trust him, then?

"Would you like to see him again?" Kurt offered me.

"See him again...?"

"I can take you to him!" he explained while extending his hand, "All you gotta do is trust me and take my hand!"

What is this feeling...? It's not just the voice in my head, every part of my body is screaming at me to run and get as far away from this guy as possible, but I can't put into words why.

Kurt started to get impatient, "Something wrong?"

"Lance...?" Kenny asked as well.

[You're in danger!! Run!!]

I started to raise my arm and realized that my hands were shaking.

Ah... I see now...

I'm scared...

This is what this feeling is.

But what am I scared of? Am I afraid of Kurt? Afraid that he will hurt me? Or am I afraid of seeing my father again?

"I'm sorry, I have to go..." I replied while taking my bag and moving towards the door.

Kurt closed his hand into a fist and finally dropped his smile, "You sure about that...?"

His glare started to pierce into me and made me even more anxious to leave this place, "I'm really sorry, maybe tomorrow, I'm not feeling so good and just wanna go home for now... Let's go, Kenny..."

I grabbed my friend and the two of us finally exited the room, but the moment we entered the hallway we started to hear a strange noise.

We raised our heads and realized that small cracks were appearing on the classroom wall.

"What in the world...?" Kenny whispered.

[Run!!!]

Before I could even react, the wall exploded into several pieces of debris and began to fly all over the hallway as if someone had placed some kind of bomb in the other room.

Once the rubble stopped falling and the smoke cleared up, we saw Kurt gazing at us with his index raised while standing in the middle of a hole in the wall.

"I'm gonna have to ask you to reconsider... Pretty please?" he muttered.

Did... Did he do that? Did he just destroyed the wall with his finger?

He stepped out of the hole and entered the hallway as well, placing himself between us and the exit.

"Now... Let's try this again... Won't you come with me?" he asked again.

I'm scared...

I'm scared and I have no idea what's going on.

I want to run but my legs won't work. I want to scream but my mouth is frozen. I want to look away but I feel he will kill me the moment I do so.

"Who... Who are you...?" I utter.

"WHAT are you!!??" Kenny follows up.

I hear whispers from other students and teachers who saw our commotion and began to gather around to see what was going on.

"Me? I'm your ticket to meet with your dad once more! Won't you take my hand?"

[Do not touch him! Under any circumstance!]

The voice speaks inside my mind one more time and I begin to gaze at Kurt's palm.

"What happens if I grab your hand?" I managed to ask with the very little courage that I have.

"I'll take you to your father! Simple, right?"

[Do not trust him!]

I'm pretty sure only a moron with half a brain cell would trust someone like him so easily by this point. But still... If this voice is really trying to protect me... Then should I trust her instead?

"Give me your answer, Lance!" Kurt demanded.

"What the hell is going on here!!??" yelled a huge bald man with a round shape dressed in a brown suit, the principal of the school, "Who caused all this!!??"

Kurt turned his glare towards him and began to mutter a few words on a displeased tone, "Get lost, you're bothering me..."

"What did you just say?? Young man, you better start showing some respect if you- Aaghhh!!"

The principal tried to grab Kurt's shoulder so he could look directly at him, but the moment he did so, Kurt simply waved the back of his hand at him and sent the old man flying with a slap.

The rest of the students started to scream in terror once they realized Kurt was not a normal person and began to rush towards the nearest exit possible.

I took this chance to grab Kenny and we both started to run away as well.

"Sigh... Making things so complicated..." he whispered the moment we began to run.

We continued to dash as fast as we could. Passing by every class, down the stairs, through the cafeteria, down the corridor, we basically went through the entire school as fast as we could until we finally spotted the gates. The two of us as well as everyone single student continued to move their legs in a state of panic as if a meteor was about to hit the place.

Throughout the whole thing, we could hear the sound of parts of the school being destroyed and falling apart.

But just when we were mere moments away from freedom, the same sound from before could be heard again, only this time, it was the ceiling right above us that was starting to shatter.

We froze in the last second as Kurt came down from above and landed right in front of us bringing a cloud of smoke with him and carrying with his usual piercing gaze aimed at me.

"Your father was faster..." he commented.

I looked at my surroundings and while everyone else continued to stand still in fear, I rushed to grab a nearby fire extinguisher and just launched the thing at him.

Kurt raised his arm and just held it with one hand before smashing it open like a beer can and throwing it to his side.

"Your father was stronger..." he added.

"Stay back!! Stay back!!" I declared while slowly backing into a corner while he continued to approach me with slow steps.

"Your father was braver..."

"I don't know what you're talking about!! Just... Just stay away from me!!"

Kurt continued to stare at me, his face seemed to tell me he was... Dissapointed?

"You are nothing like your father..."

My entire body was trembling. I dropped on the floor with no idea of what to do. This guy opened a hole in the wall and in the ceiling like it was nothing. How do I get away from him??

"Since you attacked me... The truce is invalid... I'm now allowed to attack you as well!"

Truce?? The hell is he talking about?? Just what is going on??

"Help!! Help!!!! Somebody!!" I screamed once I realized I had no other options left.

I looked at every direction but all the other students just started to flee.

Makes sense I guess... I never really developed a connection with any of them, there was no reason for anyone to risk themselves for me.

No one except for...

"Kenny!! Kenny, please, help!!" I begged as I noticed Kenny staring at us with no idea of what to do.

Kurt turned around to look at him. It seemed like he was waiting, almost daring Kenny to intervene.

"Your friend is asking for help... You not gonna save him?" Kurt asked.

"I- I- I-" Kenny was so nervous he couldn't even form words.

"Well? What will it be?"

Kenny seemed like he wanted to answer back at him, but I could see fear taking over his entire being.

What was I thinking...? Of course he was scared. Who wouldn't be in that situation? It was almost cruel of me to ask for his help.

With a heavy heart I just took a deep breath and tried to release a few words.

"Kenny... Run..."

"What...?? Lance!"

"Just go!! And don't look behind you!!! Hurry!!" I ordered.

Kenny started to cry and without saying anything he dashed as far away as he could.

One look at his face was all I needed to know he was planning to run all along. But at least now he wouldn't have to hold the guilt of leaving me behind while I cried for help.

"Well then..." Kurt turned his attention back at me, "Where were we?"

He extended his hand one more time and just like before, awaited for me to grab it.

"Shall we go?"

"Why are you doing all this?? Who are you??" I ask while feeling the water dripping from my eyes.

"You mean to tell me that after all this it isn't obvious?" he muttered with his usual disturbing smile.

I watched as his hand started to cover itself with green scales and the nalis of his fingers began to grown and change its color from white to black.

He looked like he had the arm of a crocodile.

"I'm the downfall of humanity!"

He finally moved his arm in an attempt to strike me. His claw pierced the wind like a spear aimed at my heart.

I closed my eyes to prepare for the worst and raised my arms by instinct. But a couple of seconds passed and nothing happened.

I lowered my arm and opened my eyes, and right in front of me, a golden transparent wall of stood before me, stopping him from reaching my body.

"What the hell...?" I whisper again. I lost count of how many times I had said that only today.

"You okay there, Lance?" someone asked me while I was lost in confusion.

I turned my head and saw a figure approaching from the gates. A girl with chestnut skin who seemed to be one or two years younger than me. She had a long black hair tied up in a single braid, amber eyes that looked like they were made of gold, and covered in a dark purple dress that covered her whole body as well as a light purple veil that was hiding her shoulders.

"Oh neat, looks like you made a new friend! Im glad!" she commented while gazing at our situation.

Kurt backed his arm away from the golden wall that guarded me and began to grumble, "Blessed energy..." followed by glaring at the girl as if she was the bane of his entire existence, "A pawn of the gods!"

"Pawn?" she repeated while raising an eyebrow.

The girl then raised her hand and and massive golden cube about twice her size and looking like it was made from the same material as the wall appeared out of nowhere.

She flicked the cube and the object started to fly at kurt's direction with an absurd speed, bumping against him and sending his whole body flying all the way to the end of the hallway and making him crash against the wall.

"Guaaahhhh!!!" he wailed in pain before being buried by a pile of rubble and smoke.

"I'm a queen, asshole..."
