The adrenaline still coursed through my veins as I made my way out of the warehouse, but my thoughts were elsewhere. That little girl... I had to find her parents. It was the least I could do before heading back to the demon realm. As much as I wanted to rush back to confront Thalira and reclaim Eileen, I couldn't leave the girl to fend for herself.
I found her sitting on the steps outside the warehouse, her eyes wide with fear and confusion. She looked up at me, clutching a ragged stuffed animal to her chest. She looked kind of cute.
"Hey there," I said gently, crouching down to her level. "It's okay now. The bad demon is gone."
Her lower lip quivered, but she managed a nod. "T-thank you."
"What's your name?" I asked, offering her a reassuring smile.
"Lucy," she whispered.
"Alright, Lucy. Do you know where your parents are?"
