The next morning, I woke up to the soft rays of dawn filtering through the window. I turned to see Lise still asleep beside me, her face serene and relaxed. It was a sight I could get used to—waking up next to her, feeling her warmth and presence.
I gently disentangled myself from her embrace, careful not to wake her, and slipped out of bed. The mission ahead was serious, and we needed to be prepared.
I took a quick shower, the cold water jolting me fully awake, and got dressed in my usual gear. By the time I was ready, Lise was stirring. She blinked up at me, her eyes soft and drowsy.
"Morning," she murmured, stretching.
"Morning," I replied with a smile. "I'll head down to the kitchen to grab us some breakfast. Meet me there when you're ready?"
She nodded, still half-asleep. I leaned down to give her a quick kiss on the forehead before heading out.
