I woke up the next morning feeling surprisingly refreshed, considering the chaos of the previous day. The sunlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting a warm glow across the room.
Eileen was still asleep beside me, her face peaceful and relaxed. I watched her for a moment, my heart swelling with love and gratitude. It was moments like these that reminded me of how lucky I was to have her in my life.
As much as I wanted to stay in bed with her, I knew that Eileen had a routine she liked to stick to, no matter what. She always did her 5 km walk every morning, rain or shine. It was part of what kept her grounded and focused. Gently, I reached out and brushed a strand of hair from her face.
"Eileen," I whispered softly. "Time for your walk."
She stirred, her eyes fluttering open. A sleepy smile spread across her face when she saw me. "Good morning," she murmured, stretching languidly.
