Oliver parked by the side of the road and took off his helmet to look at Amanda who was also taking off hers.
"What was that about you being my girlfriend?" He asked. He didn't sound angry or particularly pissed about anything, he was only curious.
"Point of correction, I didn't say 'girlfriend'. I said 'special someone'. Whoever misunderstands me should blame themselves." She shrugged.
He almost rolled his eyes at her explanation. "You did that on purpose." He pointed out.
She sighed, "You know it's safer this way." She paused before adding, "You know that right?" She asked seriously before climbing down from the bike to stand in front of him.
"...."
"You will attract less attention this way. Isn't that what you wanted too?" Another pause before she continued, "Or you plan to go into a relationsh–"
"NO!" He cut her off before she could finish. "That... is out of it."
"Then I guess this is fine, right?"
He pressed his lips in a thin line. Of course, he would do anything for peace and quietness in his life, even though it meant taking his psycho bestfriend as his pseudo girlfriend.
"You have always wanted to date me anyway, so it's fine." He shrugged.
"Eww. You are not my type!" She faked a gag before asking, "So... how is it going? Do you like this new school?"
Oliver didn't think it was the wisest thing to be talking by the side of the road, but he answered her question.
"I'm not sure I like it here. But I don't have any choice now, do I?"
She smiled warmly and rubbed his upper arm with her gloved palm. "This is all going to pass soon. Trust me."
He nodded in agreement. It was only going to take a few months before he would graduate from highschool. He wasn't sure any other person hated highschool as much as he hated it.
"So.....?"
"So?" He asked.
"Does anyone here... recognize you?" She asked hesitantly.
He shook his head. "I don't think so. At least, no one has said anything."
Amanda noticed he was slightly nervous so she didn't push for more answers.
"I guess staying with your father was the wisest thing to do then. Just be careful and let me know if something goes wrong. I'll come here immediately."
Again, he smiled at her. She was such a supportive friend. She was only three months older than him but she acted like she was at least 5 years older.
"How did you get here?" He asked. He had recieved a message from her while he was leaving class, saying that she was at his new school. He had thought she was fibbing until he waited outside and saw the familiar red motorbike.
"I rode my bike, duh?"
"For three full hours?" He was surprised.
"It was fun sightseeing. Besides, I have always wanted to come here and you being here gave me the perfect excuse. Why don't you take your special someone on a date to a really nice restaurant?" She grinned.
"I don't know my way around here." He said honestly while starting the bike.
Amanda gasped. "Seriously? You've been in this town for a good month!"
"I didn't have any reason to leave the house until it was okay to enroll here." He explained casually.
"You really are something, Oliver Sallow. I won't let you live like this here. I know you want a quiet life, but you also need to have a little bit of fun. Why don't we hang out now while you tell me all that's been up since you resumed Northend High yesterday. Also, I need to know more about that good looking stud I saw earlier."
"Who?" He asked as she climbed the back of the motorbike and wrapped her arms around his waist.
"The boy called Liam." She grinned.
