PLAN HIS BIRTHDAY

The breakfast was over eventually, Abigail thanked her stars when she was finally able to get up from the table. The whole tension was too much for her to bear and then the stares she was getting, so many times she wanted to stand up and ask why the stares but she had to just endure, afterall it was only today.

"Abigail" Sophie came up to her again.

Even with all the thinking Abigail still managed to muster up a smile for Sophie, the girl was the only one she didn't mind talking to.

"So how's the preparation going?" Sophie asked as she held her hand and took her for a walk, Abigail looked behind and saw that Xavier was with his father.

"Preparation..what...what do you mean?" Abigail asked as she thought Sophie was talking about her pregnancy, none of them was suppose to know about it.

"Don't tell me you don't know" Sophie said in shock as she paused in her steps to look at Abigail then she realized something and then added. "It's not really your fault though, I know my brother, he's not the type to share things" Sophie added as she held Abigail's arm and they continued walking.

"I don't really understand what you are talking about Sophie" Abigail said honestly, she didn't know where the girl was driving at.

"This is winter, Xavier's birthday falls on winter" Sophie said and then stopped to think before adding " It's Christmas Eve" Sophie added as she turned to Abigail with a smile.

Abigail didn't know about Xavier's birthday, it's not like Xavier to share stuff like that, Abigail even had doubts that he remembered his own birthday. Well if his birthday was coming up then she might as well get him a present.

"So I guess you have not started planning anything, you could meet up with Jeffery, I'm sure he already has plans, I've been trying to call but I can't reach him" Sophie added as she looked around and saw that they had walked a little too far and so they turned back.

"Plans...a party? I'm not sure Xavier would like that" Abigail spoke as she turned to Sophie, Xavier was not the type to party, even if they did plan a birthday party, he would most likely not attend.

"That thought also crossed my mind too Abi, but I think we should just make it a small party, just his loved ones" Sophie said.

'loved ones' Abigail echoed in her head, did Xavier really have loved ones. The man didn't look like he loved anyone, well who was she to know that.

"Xavier won't mind, at least it's better than dad's plans, Dad usually throws a big party for Xavier. You know Xavier doesn't like parties that's why we have to plan this one to be less of a party, more of a small gathering, just ten to fifteen guests, I'm sure Xavier won't mind" Sophie said as they walked.

Now they had returned back to where the rest were, Xavier was still having a heated conversation with his father while his mother sat down and watched but when she noticed Abigail's presence she quickly turned to her and smiled.

"What's wrong?" Sophie mouthed as she looked at her mother but the woman just shrugged.

Abigail could tell that something was not right, the atmosphere was tense, it was clear that Xavier must have had an argument with his father.

"Abigail" Elder Quinn called as he turned away from his son and looked at his daughter in law.

"Yes Mr Quinn" Abigail answered, it was weird addressing him like that considering the fact that he was her father-in-law.

"Why so formal?" Elder Quinn said followed by a small chuckle as he looked at her. "Dad would be fine" He added with a smile.

"No" Xavier spoke drawing attentions to himself.

Though it was just one word, it was enough to explain everything, the man was angry.

"You won't mind us staying around for a little while Abi dear? We could go and have fun just us girls, what do you think?" Xavier's mum spoke from where she sat. Her voice was soft and gentle trying to break the ice.

"Abigail and I already have plans" Xavier said immediately not even giving Abigail the chance to say a word, he noticed the look she gave him for a brief moment before she gave a nod to agree with his words.

"That's fine, next time." Elder Quinn said as he looked at her, his eyes lingered on the girl for a little while before he added. "Okay we are leaving now" Elder Quinn added.

"Good" Xavier spoke coldly as he looked at his father, he didn't even want the man to stay here for another second. He was trying his best to stay calm, it was hard but he was doing this for Sophie, if not then he would have chased the old man out of here earlier.

"Come on Sophie" Elder Quinn said as he gave his wife a signal to get up, he looked at Abigail again for a few seconds before he turned and began heading for the door.

Abigail gave Sophie a goodbye hug as her eyes looked around to find Xavier's mother staring at them. Abigail didn't mind hugging her too and so she walked closer to her but one look from Xavier made her halt in her tracks. She turned to the side to find him giving her a deadly glare, his eyes had turned cold, this was not the same man she woke up in bed with this morning. The difference was crystal clear, right now Xavier looked like a beast who was going to go berserk any moment from now.
