CHAPTER THIRTEEN : VERY TROUBLESOME

In the process of baking, Lydia seemed to be absent minded. Uncle David could notice that. He wondered what could be bothering her. They suddenly heard a phone ring. Lydia apologised, because no phones were allowed at the kitchen. Lydia has just broken one of the rules. Her mind was occupied with many things that she forgot about herself.

"Go ahead, but make sure you don't make the same mistake again"

"Yes sir thank you." She said and rushed out of the kitchen in a flash"

"Hello! Jim and Kim are you there?" She asked on the phone when she got no response.

"Hello sweets, talk to mama, I won't get mad for ringing me by this time.

"Really mama?" Jim asked over the phone. Lyelia responded with a yes. This was how her little boys behaved. They know how to provoke her and at the same time make her forgive them that instant.

"Now talk to Mommy little guys, I'm in the middle of work." Lydia said to the two little men on the other side of the phone.

"We missed you mama." how melodious they sounded together.

I've missed you more sweets. Don't worry, mama will pick you up tomorrow for the trip, grandma needs your company for your last stay in Africa, okay? "

"Hmm."

"Be good boys to grandma, I'll hang up now. bye." The call ended. Lydia went back to continue her duties after getting rid of her phone

It was time to go home. Lydia stopped by a coffee shop to grab a hot chocolate. Even though she was on morning shift, she still went home late in the evening. That is how important she is to the company. She has sent her resignation letter before leaving that evening. What's left is to inform Mama Zimbi when they'll be leaving. Even she agrees to her concerns about the wellbeing of the boys and so the tickets are ready. She has already packed up the necessary things needed.

"Aunt can I come in?" Lydia spoke to Mama Zimbi over the phone. "Yes the boys are asleep".

"Why didn't you go to work with your car ?" " Aunt, I told you it's not that bad to walk on my own. I only use it when ever the boys involved." Lydia replied to Mama Zimbi with a sweet smile plastered on her face just to avoid her from arguing with her about the usage of car she had bought her over the past two years. The car still looks new as ever. Lydia likes to keep a low profile. She has never driven that car to work before. The only time she would use that car is when she'll pick Jim and Kim from school or when they are out for shopping

"How was your day with the little ones." Lydia asked Mama Zimbi, trying to know if the boys behaved well in her absence.

"They were so troublesome." Lydia smiled upon hearing the sentence from Mama Zimbi. Indeed, they are too stubborn and likes to ask too many questions that one can't even answer sometimes. "They slept off whilst waiting for your return." Lydia shook her head slowly not knowing what to say anymore. She thought she had told them earlier on that she'd pick them up the next morning.

She did that to give them much space without her. She didn't want their lives to revolve around her only. She wants them to learn the African culture but that can not happen when they don't associate themselves with the African people. It's now too late for that since they'll be leaving with the next flight tomorrow.

"Maria has already told me you'd be taking the earliest flight tomorrow."Mama Zimbi stated trying to confirm if what her daughter said was true.

'She couldn't even wait for me to tell aunt myself ' Lydia thought to herself.

"Yes aunt, I was about to tell you, I hope you're not offended that I'm leaving too soon."

"Not at all, lets do what's good for the Angels."

"Thank you mom." Lydia said with tears in her eyes. After her mother, no one has ever cared for her like Mama Zimbi did. Mama Zimbi hugged her kissing her forehead. "Lets not get too emotional, go and rest for your trip tomorrow.

Lydia layed beside her children and feeling their warmth. A gentle smile crept on her lips as she closed her eyes to sleep.
