Beast Master Legacy

"YOU HAVE BEEN PRESENTED WITH THE LEGACY OF YUKON......DO YOU ACCEPT?" The ethereal voice asked in it's vague tone. "What?!" Peter had never been so confused in his entire life before. "DO YOU ACCEPT?!...." This time, the ethereal voice became slightly authoritative, as if daring him to say no. No matter what it was, whether good or bad, it was wise not to refuse a gift being presented, or else you'd risk the anger of the one presenting it. "Yes!" Peter replied as he held on for his dear life. "VERY WELL, YOU HAVE ACCEPTED THE LEGACY OF YUKON AND HAVE BEEN CHOSEN AS A PARTICIPANT IN THE CONTEST OF MIGHT AND MAGIC" ----------------------------------------- On a strange day and in a mysterious moment, Peter made a choice that would change his life forever. CHAPTER 21 - The Land Of Reager 3

Somewhere in the strange land of Reager...

Peter stayed at the Dreysons house till the sun began to set — thereby ushering in the evening hour.

Against the wishes of Mr Dreyson — Lyra and her mother had given their consent for Peter to spend the night at their home.

He was quite agitated over the fact that — back at his home — his mother would be quite worried about where he was.

But try as he may, he just couldn't find a way to activate the portal which he used in coming to this land.

Another thought that had occurred to him — was to journey to the so called Midlands — which he was told by Lyra to be filled with so many brimming cities.

In the few hours he spent with the Dreysons — he was able to acquire one or two information.

First of all he was told especially by Lyra — who was quite a chatterbox — that there were three territorial regions in the land of Reager.

The first region was the lowlands which was where he was right now — and it was located at the supposed end or outskirts of the land of Reager.

The lowlands was said to be occupied by a few community of villages — which possessed simple livelihoods like farming, hunting and fishing.

The second region was called the Midlands — which was located at the supposed central area of the land of Reager.

The Midlands was said to be occupied by various urban settlements or cities — which possessed slightly developed livelihoods like commercial trades and little industries.

The third region was called the Highlands — which was located at the supposed upper areas of the land of Reager.

The highlands was said to be home to the revered kingdom of Reager — and also having an interconnected network of extra large cities — which possessed more sophisticated livelihoods like commercial enterprises, artisans and the likes.

"How do you know so much?" Peter asked as he stared at Lyra.

"Well there was once a friend of mine who went by the name 'old weaselly' — he always travelled between the three regions of Reager" Lyra said with a smile.

"Anytime he comes back from his travels — he would always bring us different food items, clothing wares and accessories — including tales of the mid and high lands — he also brought me a lot of books to read"

"Is he from here the lowlands?" Peter asked.

"Yes he was" but at this point her excited expression quickly dulled in sadness.

"What happened?" Peter asked — as he noticed the change in her expression.

"He suddenly disappeared — none of us knew what happened to him — and when the chief of the villages sent out a search party to look for him, they also vanished as well"

"Am sorry to hear that" Peter said — as he could already guess what had happened to her friend 'old weaselly'.

"It's okay" she said and directed her gaze to Peter.

"So what about you? — where exactly in the Midlands do you reside?"

Before Peter could think of an answer — Mr Dreyson walked into the barn with a frown on his face.

"Don't you both think it's rather late to just sit here and engage in pointless chatter?"

"Dad but it's just seven thirty in the evening" Lyra protested while glancing at the clock in the barn.

"All the more reason for you to be in bed — as the saying goes — early to sleep and early to rise" Mr Dreyson said as he came and stood before Peter and Lyra.

"Just few more minutes dad — pleeeease?" Lyra pleaded in the cutest way she could think of.

"No Lyra — and that's final — go to your room now"

Lyra stared at her father in slight surprise — due to the fact that he had never been this strict with her before.

With a pout on her face and a grumble in her voice, she walked past her father and out of the barn.

"As for you" Mr Dreyson rested his suspicious and angry gaze on Peter.

"You will sleep here in the barn — and by tomorrow morning — I expect you to be gone from this place"

****************

At the police precinct...Kentucky

"Let's hear it for our favorite officers; agent Geoffrey Houston and Catherine Parker — who braved the den of thieves and cut off the arm of one of the most notorious gangs in the world!"

"CHEER!!!"

The police precinct was afloat with celebration for the amazing feat of Geoffrey and Catherine — concerning the arrests of more than fifteen criminals and the procurement of more than five hundred thousand dollars worth of illegal drugs and equipment.

Geoffrey couldn't believe that he had finally attained the height that he — no scratch that — that every police officer in the precinct had been dreaming of.

And that is being placed on equal standing with one of the prodigies of the police force.

And all it took was just one mission to skyrocket him to the top.

"Hey Geoffrey — mind if we take a picture with you"

"Agent Geoffrey — mind if I have your autograph?"

"Nice work agent Geoffrey — to think that you had been hiding such a talent all this years — you really fooled us man!"

Geoffrey couldn't even find the time to take a cup of coffee without being hounded by adoring police officers.

But was he bothered by it? — of course not!

He loved every attention, respect, admiration and adoration that he was given.

He even had dates from three sexy police women!

Meanwhile Catherine — on the other hand — was indifferent to the admiration and adoration that were being sent her way.

The dead body of her partner and fiance —Tom Jenkins — was already placed in the morgue, awaiting burial.

But funny enough — her restless thoughts were not focused on her dead fiance — but instead they were focused on a teenage boy.

Catherine could never forget those innocent looking eyes and that averagely cut blond hair.

With the way her mind was focused on him — you would think that she had begun to develop feelings.

But she herself could testify that it was not romantic fantasies that drew her to this boy — but the irresistible lure of mystery.

Ever since she witnessed the scene in the woods — of armed and dangerous criminals being beaten and slaughtered without so much as lifting a finger — she began to wonder if there were forces out there that could influence the outcome of a battle to such a terrifying degree.

And the boy — she forgot to initially ask for his name but she had many speculations about him — and the most prominent one was that he probably might not be human.

She knew such thought sounded crazy — but so was what she had witnessed!

And she couldn't have rationally placed her suspicions on a teenager — just because he was fearless enough to follow her into the den of hardened gangsters.

But the last confrontation they had in front of the gangs fortress — sealed her suspicions about the teenager.

She could remember how he ran in front of the heavy gunfire and.....

What did he do?....wave his hands?

Then.....boom!!

She witnessed a most shocking phenomenon — as the large building in front of her was blown to the ground by a terrible wind.

At that moment she knew that the boy was no ordinary human.

She never truly believed in the existence of supernatural forces — though that didn't mean she was an atheist — she just didn't have the time to hold on to what she could not see or sense.

But the teenager with the blond hair — changed her entire perspective — which brought her to a resolution;

'I have to find out who and where he his'

At that moment, her phone rang;

~Kring~

"Hello" she said while placing the phone to her ear.

**Hello miss Catherine — you have a visitor**

"Whomever it is — tell them an busy" Catherine said immediately.

**She said it's quite necessary for her to see you**

"I just told you lily — I don't care who it is — am not seeing anyone today"

Catherine had an annoyed look on her face — she wasn't in the mood to indulge anyone seeking for her attention or trying to fawn over her.

~Kring~

Staring at the phone in exasperation — her eyes narrowed as she saw the caller ID.

"Chief" she was curious as to why the chief of police would be calling her.

**Agent Catherine — how do you do?**

"Am fine — what's up?"

**Well you have an important visitor — whom I would advise that you meet with right now**

On hearing that, Catherine's gaze sharpened — as she became curious by the identity of her visitor.

"Very well — where is she?" Her curiosity got the better of her.

**In my office — should I send her over?**

"No am coming over to you"

-------------

Stepping into the chief's office — Catherine's gaze rested on a beautiful lady — adorned with silver colored hair that went down to her belly.

"Agent Catherine — I want you to meet lady M"

The chief said as soon as Catherine entered the office.

"Lady M — this is agent Catherine — one of our top foremost detectives, with a track record of multiple arrests and cases solved all over the state"

"Good day agent Catherine — how do you do?" Mocheda smiled and stood up from her seat as she stretched forth her hand for a handshake.

Catherine took it as they both shook hands.

"How can I help you?"

"Can we talk somewhere else?" Mocheda asked — not minding the curious gaze of the chief.

Glancing at the chief and noticing the clueless look on his face — Catherine nodded in assent.

----------------

Back in her office — Catherine didn't wait until Mocheda sat down before questioning her.

"What is this all about?"

"I would like to know the details of your earlier intrusion into the hidden base of the death-row gang and everything that transpired during the arrests"

Mocheda spoke immediately — with a straight look on her face.

Catherine immediately narrowed her eyes as she gave Mocheda a sharp gaze.

"And why would you want to know about that? — besides it's all over the news — can't you feed your curiosity from the newspapers or TV broadcasts?"

"I can do that" Mocheda replied — not being fazed by Catherine's suspicious gaze.

"But neither the newspapers nor TV broadcasts can tell me about him"

Bringing out a picture — she dropped it on the table — which made Catherine to pick it up and gasp in shock at the image in the picture.

The kid.....the blond mysterious teenager.
