Be Yourself, Unless you can be a Dragon

People have always told me to be myself. There was no fault in being my true self, but really, when given the chance to be a dragon. Who would refuse. After all, if I can be a dragon, then there was no doubt that I would choose such. As everyone else should as well. Though that didn't explain why I was treated like some sort of demon god. I mean I am and always will be a dragon now. So why is it that everyone in this world has such a bias against dragons. What, did they like slaughter a whole continent or something. Either way, I was a dragon now, and that was all that mattered. I would grow my hoard, take all the treasures in the world and retire to sit on my gold. Yeah, that would be the life.

"For the last time…" Erryn sighed out… "Fuck off."

She flipped the man off, scoffing as he tried to do the same. Only for the people around to start whispering. His reputation - I had found - was on of generosity. One that cared not for greed and gave away extra food to the populace.

Of course after a bit of insight. I saw it for what it was for. Food, to him at least, must have been extraordinarily cheap and the cloth and silks that they made here extremely valuable back wherever he sold them.

It was only natural for him to try and keep within the good graces of those around here. Only I had to quietly snicker as he left. Huffing and puffing with nothing to show. Oh, my senses - both draconic and human - told me that he would be back.

Apparently the fox, whatever Erryn had called it, was quite valuable. Used for many regents in whatever spells needed them. And because of such, he would be back.

Either to try and kill me, and if he did he would be in for a rude awakening. Part of me wanted that to happen. The part that was held up by greed. For all of his stuff would be mine if he did so.

I could keep all of those silks and cloths of his. And sell it for gold and jewels. Maybe even find a place for my hoard while at it.

But for now…

"Hey! Wait up!" A voice called out. I looked back and found another girl. She was about the same height as Erryn, maybe just a head or so taller. But where she truly differed was in her build.

Where Erryn was slender she was busty. Her very movements drew the eyes of all of the boys that had come to watch the commotion. Red on their faces as they tried to look away. Only to be drawn back in a moment later.

"Erryn - huff - why'd ya leave so soon?" She asked.

"Away… shoo… go…" She whispered quietly, waving her hands. I was currently perched on her shoulder, snuggling my head to her warmth.

It was actually quite easy to keep. As it was both comfortable and I had a good nook in her neck to burrow into.

"Aw~" She pouted - I still didn't know her name - though that didn't matter much as Erryn smiled, to herself and no one else. I could see it but the other girl couldn't.

"Irene~" Her voice was sickeningly sweet, the same voice I found her to use whenever she wanted to be particularly stubborn or annoying. Just as she had done when convincing me to polymorph.

This Irene in question flinched at the tone.

"Ah- uh- yes?"

She was flustered, her poise - so confident before - was not bereft of any grace. Irene tried to run away, knowing her error.

But I jumped on her shoulder, sending a discreet wink to Erryn. Finding it quite amusing.

I pawed at her face before licking it. She was no one of consequence, that was what my senses were saying anyway.

As a human I didn't want to dismiss her, but my dragon-esque side told me that she was significantly weaker than me. And even weaker than Erryn, who could barely hold herself against that swarm of bugs.

"I found the darndest thing~"

Erryn burrowed through her pocket, taking out some sort of powder. I couldn't tell what it was but the look of fear on Irene's face as she tried to back away, only to be stopped by me. It was absolutely delicious.

I squinted as Erryn rubbed Irene's cheeks.

"Smile for me~"

It was later, Irene had broken out into hives and barricaded herself into the nearest inn. I still found it quite amusing,

"What was that?" I asked.

"A little invention of mine."

I nodded, reapplying the polymorph. It didn't take much effort but I still did need to apply it every six hours lest it dispel.

"Can I get you anything?" There was a glint within the barmaids eyes as she looked over Erryn.

"Yes, the…" Erryn rattled off some order, one for me and one for her.

But my eyes focused more on the coin she had produced from her bag. It was made of pure silver. Something that should have been impossible, my human side said at least.

But here it was. Right in front of my eyes. Taunting me like it was some sort of mystical object.

Either way I wanted it.

"Give." I spoke. Quietly enough that Erryn was the only one to hear. But loud and commanding enough that she just sighed and gave me her money pouch.

I smiled, a leering one that curled against the pouch. My large ears furrowing around it to bring it closer. As close as I could.

Minutes later and the food had come. I ate some. It wasn't the most filling, but it was enough for the body I was currently using.

Though when I transformed back I would be absolutely starving.

But that was a worry for another time.

Right now I curled up and took the bag in my paw.

"Mmm~" Erryn stretched… "Ready?" She spoke.

I nodded and let her take her money back. For now, I had already claimed it and it was going to be mine whether she liked it or not.

By now I was already resolved. Even before I was a greedy guy. With just the small bits of my personality retained, none of the memories except some general knowledge, I still knew how greedy I was.

And how much I lusted after money. So combine that with my draconic instincts and it led to this situation. Where they compounded on each other.

It wasn't surprising that I was already eager to go and pillage that merchant guy.

What was his name? Roth? Maybe.

I shook my head and closed my eyes, burrowing on my Erryn's chest. She was warm.
