President Du's Birthday Party (7)

The audience were making a loud racket as they discussed among themselves on the possibility of hitting the targets.

"Impossible!"

"A stationary target is hard enough! It would be near impossible to hit a bull's-eye on a moving target!"

"But I heard President Du did it before!"

When DX cleared his throat, everyone immediately quiet down to listen to him.

"The winner will be the one who can shoot the most targets and who scored the most points. To make it more intense, I will be limiting the arrows to 7 per person. And to make it more interesting..."

He looked at Old Mo who took out a remote control in his pocket and turned up the rap music to a deafening level!

"ENJOY!" He said loudly into the microphone before going back to his seat.

The first to go up to the stand was Naomi. She managed to get 2 targets. When she practised at home, it was always with stationary targets.

Even though she was disappointed, she knew that based on her ability, it was good enough that she could get 2 targets.

The crowd applauded her for her bravery and her ability. Many of them knew that this was no easy feat and even though it was shameful, even some of the men acknowledged that they were unable to do it.

The second was Song Qiao. It was intense. She took a long rest between each shots. With every shot, the audience kept quiet. Not that it matters.

Not when the rap music was so ear deafening that most of them including Old Madam Mo had their hands over their ears.

She took 20 minutes to finish and managed to get 4 targets with two bull's-eye.

Everyone at the audience seats had clapped wildly for her while some of the younger, unruly boys were openly shouting out that they love her.

When it was Kai Xin's turn, the audience had merely sneered and laughed at her. How could an unknown person like him managed such a difficult feat.

After all, Song Qiao was at Olympic levels! None of them believed that Kai Xin can hit more bull's-eye than her. It would be a miracle for her to hit even one!

Even the Nakamura sisters had their doubts as they watched on nervously.

Song Qiao watched the man walking towards the stand. She was confident with her skills. Ever since she was in high school, she had never lost to anyone other than DX before.

There was no way she could lose to a scrawny guy like him. She smiled proudly to herself as she took her seat.

Kai Xin stood in front of the moving targets. When she missed her first shot, she can hear the loud whispers and taunts of the people behind her.

She took a glance at DX who merely nodded at her. She knew then that he believed in her capability.

Lowering her bow, she closed her eyes as she thought about the training sessions that she had with DX previously.

DX's voice rang in her mind as she imagined him standing right next to her and lecturing her on how to focus,

"Concentrate, Kara. Imagine the targets as your enemies. Your enemies will never wait for you to attack. You must get to them before they get to you."

Slowly, she opened her eyes. The previously playful look in her eyes were replaced by a more vicious and cold gaze.

She was staring so at the targets with such intensity that it was as if she was staring at her sworn enemies.

It was similar to the same expression she wore whenever she managed to land the KO strike at her opponents in court, except that it was more murderous than usual.

When she had set her mind on the target, she raised the bow and pulled back the string, and with a steady stance and controlled breathing, she released the arrow.

'PAP!'

After a moment of silence, Old Mo announced, "Bulls-eye!!!"

The strike had took him by surprise as he had not expected it from such a scrawny lad.

"Perhaps it was a coincidence?" He thought.

When she struck another bull's-eye, he had thought it was luck.

However, when she managed to strike the third bullseyes in a row, he knew then that this man in front of him was not a simple person.

The young man, without breaking a sweat, managed to surprise everyone present and for some reason, when he saw the young man's eyes, Old Mo felt as if he was looking at President Du instead.

He turned to look at President Du who was engrossed with the show. Earlier, he had looked at his proud Master when Naomi and Song Qiao were competing.

However, President Du had kept his eyes on the targets. His expressions then can be summarized in one word : BORED.

But now? His eyes were lively!

Old Mo followed DX's line of sight and landed on the young man.

"Bullseyes!!!!" This time, it was the audience who shouted. Their combined shocked voices managed to drown the music out.

Old Mo turned off the music as he announced, "Four bull's-eye! That was spectacular! I guess we know who won today! Everyone, please give a round of applause to Young Master K!!!!"

The audience went crazy with their applauses. Song Qiao gritted her teeth as she clapped slowly while Naomi and Rin genuinely clapped for Kai Xin. Naomi was surprised by Kai Xin's ability and she had to admit, her heart actually skipped a beat earlier when she watched Kai Xin's calm and steady back.

Ignoring the audience, Kai Xin took the last remaining arrow. After she placed the arrow in position, she pulled the string and aimed at DX. At that moment, everyone went silent and the hall was so quiet that one could literally hear a pin drop...
