Making Camp

Towering trees loomed ahead, and as dusk began to settle, the convoy came to a halt just outside the dense edge of a forest. The fading sunlight casting an orange light over the dense foliage.

The air was thick with the scent of damp earth and old bark, as they stood outside the boundaries of a forest.

With a flick of his wrist, he halted their march. "Set those tents up! We make camp here" he commanded, dismounting his horse, his tone leaving no room for hesitation. 

"Yes sir!" the soldiers exclaimed in unison as they scrambled to comply, hauling poles and canvas while mercenaries exchanged quick glances before begrudgingly following suit. 

William gestured toward a knight. "Vice commander Dante" he called out.

"Yes commander William" he replied.

"Take fifty knights with you and set up a perimeter. With eyes on the forest. I don't want anything sneaking up on us."
