86 The prelude

Dr Seilveig was brought to a facility, his recent encounter with the god of thunder had opened his eyes to things he thought to be but myth, it had also allowed him this opportunity.

He was approached by S.H.I.E.L.D who told him of an energy source like no other as well as extended to him the invitation to lead the research.

"Here we are doctor," Fury spoke up as he led Dr. Seilveig through the facility. Dr. Seilveig took in everything with awe surprised by the sheer size of the facility hidden below ground.

"Keep moving doctor it's right through here" Fury motioned to Dr. Seilveig as he was brought to an object that caused his mouth to be agape, "wh..ho..wh.."

"Amazing isn't it" Fury spoke up as Dr. Seilveig stuttered as he stared at the universal marvel before himself. "The cube was first discovered by Hydra back in 1942 in a small town, went on to be used by them until they were stopped by captain America"

"This cube was hidden away until your hammer welding friend decided to pay us a visit we dusted up old plans. We will need your help to bring those plans to fruition"

Dr. Seilveig took a step forward to have a closer look at the cube, "what say you doctor?" Fury's question resounded in Seilveig ears.

"I agree... I'll help you" Seilveig responded.

Unbeknownst to the two of them as well as the many other Shield agents in the facility someone had snuck in.

In the shadows above the rafters Batman watched everything that was happening below, his eyes locked on to Fury and Seilveig who after exchanging a few more words were now moving away from the tesseract.

Being swift and silent Batman managed to make it to the tesseract while avoiding detection.

Standing before the Tesseract, Batman placed a device barely noticeable on the Tesseract before disappearing the way he came.

The next day a press conference was held as Jeff introduced Yelena to the world as his daughter drawing the attention of countless reporters to her.

"Still don't understand why we are doing this" Yelena whispered to Jeff, "I'm Jeffery King and so if someone starts living with me it's going to draw attention".

"so I'm your daughter?" "Press is already used to painting me as Playboy I'm going to guess they paint a picture of me having a child with a Russian lady"

"Bleh" Yelena spat her tounge out at the image that had formed in her head, "I'd watch your image more with cameras and all" Yelena gave pout at that before putting on a fake smile for the cameras.

Elsewhere;

Natasha was walking when she laid eyes on a picture that caused her to stop.

"Nat?" Clint who was walking with Nat stopped to look at her confused at the expression on her face.

Nat who had the paper at hand was staring at the picture of Yelena who stood by Jeff's side. "I have to do something" Nat spoke up prepared to leave.

"Nat, what's going on? do you need help?" Clint asked Nat realizing that something was going on, "no it's nothing... I can handle it" Nat brushed Clint off "I'll meet you seen"

Nat tried to reassure Clint who pretended he was okay with it as she just dissapeared.

In the King Manor Jeff walked into his study before coming to a halt and looking to a corner, "you can come out now"

Natasha walked out of the shadows to stare at Jeff who had his Batman scowl etched on his face.

"so you're the Batman" were the first words that came out of Natasha's mouth, "I figured you would be here after Yelena was revealed to the public."

"what are you planning?"

"nothing, I just made a promise to Melina and decided to keep it"

"..."

"I truly mean no harm to Yelena"

"If you hurt her I don't care if they call you a legend or whatever, I'll kill you myself.... also no need to worry I won't tell Fury who you are"

With those words said Natasha left the way she came leaving Jeff standing alone in his study after a few more seconds Jeff also took his leave from the study.
