Arrival

Batman lay on the ground next to other members of the Justice League. The Legion of Doom has created a doomsday trap for the League. The League has fallen.

No one can resist, not even the most powerful members of the League. Batman watches as each member is thrown through a portal moving them to a new world or time.

Superman is sent to Krypton moments before its destruction, and Aquaman arrives in a long-dead world filled with desserts.

The Martian Manhunter joins his family as they burn together. Was this a cruel punishment or a mercy for the Martian?

Each member faces their doom, until the last member of the League, Batman. Luthor gloats at the fall of Batman.

Perhaps Superman was Luthor's strongest nemesis among the metahuman ranks, but Batman was his greatest rival among humans. If there weren't any metahumans, then Batman and Luthor would be one another's greatest rivals. They would be like Holmes and Moriarty.

"I guess you lost this battle due to lack of prep time," Luthor laughed at the only explanation most people could offer concerning how a normal human could overcome incomprehensible beings or odds.

Just as Batman was about to get tossed through the portal, he managed to use a batarang he concealed. He tossed it out and destroyed the control panel for the portal. He fell through the portal as the world selection went haywire.

Luthor cursed Batman's last act of spite as the strange technology created a cascading effect and exploded. None of the gloating villains could escape the malicious energies released with the tearing of time and space.

Batman smiled. This was the last thing he could do for his home. The Justice League may have fallen, but so did the Legion of Doom. It was a Phyric victory.

"It's time for a rest," he said to no one as his body was swept through the current of spacetime. He thought he was doomed to die, but that's not what happened.

It was both the sound of sirens and the feeling of suffocation that woke Batman. He couldn't breathe. For some reason, he realized, his Batsuit was tangled around him. He tried to reach up to his neck to undo his helmet, but his arms couldn't reach it.

Finally, he realized he could pull his head through his cowl. It was now that he was in the suit that he felt like something was wrong with his body, he felt so tiny. It was still hard to breathe, but without wasting a moment, he managed to stick his arm out of the open mouth area of the cowl reach the Bat symbol, and disconnect the cowl and cape.

Batman wiggled his body out of the suit and was left with a pair of oversized underwear and socks that went up to his knees. He looked at the suit and then at himself.

"I seem to be the size of a child..." Bruce used the Flash's compression technology to fold his bat suit into the utility belt. He slung the belt over his shoulders and looked around. He realized almost immediately that for some reason he was a child.

Before he explored too much he needed clothes, but discovered that his debit card didn't work in the ATM. As to why it didn't work, he didn't know.

A man saw Batman standing by the ATM.

"Hey kid, did ya get beat up?" The man asked Bruce.

"Beat up?" Bruce repeated thoughtlessly.

"Yeah, did they take your clothes?" The man asked.

Bruce looked down at his nearly naked body. The only thing keeping his underwear from falling was his left hand that hand them gripped in a bunch. His socks were constantly falling, but they were the only protection his feet had.

"Yeah, they took all my clothes and only left this big pair of underwear and socks," Bruce said.

"Go down to West 41st Street there's a shelter for kids. They can get you some clothes," The man said.

"Oh, I'm in New York," Bruce said.

"Yeah, I guess whoever beat you up knocked ya stupid a little. Go get some clothes and food, they'll help you out," The man reminded Bruce once more before turning and leaving.

"New Yorkers are so nice. If we were in Gotham that man probably would have tried to take my shorts and socks as well, and maybe kill me or sell me," Bruce thought to himself.

The man was right, he needed food, shelter, and clothing, and until he aquired those resources he couldn't find a way back to Gotham. With Alfred's passing, he'd probably need to call Dick or Jason or someone.

He couldn't help worrying about what to do now that the League was gone. Maybe he would need to get the second-stringers and put together a temporary team. He needed to see who was left. Luthor and his Legion of Doom were thorough.

He couldn't worry about those things for now, first, he needed to get some clothes.
