With not much to do until either Peter or doctor sterns contacted me, I thought id continue on my path of finding power in others universes. I was hoping to find a new earth that had a place like Eureka in in it to supply my x-gene technology absorption power some new abilities. 

Raising my hand, I opened a random portal and walked through. After walking through all I smelled on the air was the stench of death and decay and all I saw all around me was wasteland similar to the Wall-E earth only ....it looked like a war had been going on here for quite a while. 

Stepping over burned and decayed corpses that had been laying on the ground for quite a while, I pulled out my life signs scanner and scanned the planet. I quickly found out that aside from me there was only one other life sign on this planet and it was on the other side of the planet currently somewhere in China. 

As I was about to go grab my puddle cycle and come back, my new spider sense went off alerting me of danger from behind. On a world with only one life sign that was on the other side of the world, I wondered if it was a machine of sorts.  Thinking quickly I dodged to the side.

In front of me was a kid that looked to be somewhere between 10-14 with a cape tied around his neck wearing dirtied clothes that looked like they hadn't been changed in at least a year. The kid looked surprised at the fact that I had dodged his attack. "Oh? Where have you been hiding?" the kid asked in a creepy voice that sent chills down my spine. 

The kid was clearly the life sign that I had detected on the other side of the planet. To not only detect my presence, but to get here this quickly, I knew he was powerful. 

"I don't hide" I said as I pulled out my lightsaber just in case he decides to try and attack me again. 

The kid laughed hysterically for a good ten solid seconds as if I said the funniest thing he had ever heard before speaking again. "It's been so long since I have had someone to play with, it's been at least a few years. I was getting lonely. I have traveled the world hundreds of times over and have seen almost everything there is to see. If it wasn't for books, I would have probably lost my mind long ago". 

I shook my head. "Kid, I hate to be the one to tell you this, but I can assure you that your mind is already absolutely fucked" 

Hearing my words the boy lunged at me with such speed it was hard to follow. Even with my spider sense and speed, his hand tore through my shoulder like it was nothing, leaving me with a a huge part of my upper arm missing.

The boy had a manic smile as he laughed in my face, that was before his eyes went wide in surprise as he saw my arm repairing itself in seconds right before his eyes. "Oh, so youre special like me? but mommy told me I was the most special and precious boy in the world, so you can't be that special. There were a few other people like you, but they also were not as special as me. The mermaid guy put up a bit of a fight, but not for long". 

The cringe was too much for me to bare. His words cut through me a lot worse than his fist just had. It was the biggest critical hit I have had in a long time. 

"Kid, what's your name?" I asked

"My parents called me Brandon, but the world called me Brightburn". 

I had no idea what world I was in. It must be something I had never seen before. All I knew was that this kid was extremely dangerous compared to the people I had fought in the past and I needed to take him seriously. 

"Okay Brandon, I don't usually harm or kill kids, but I'll make an exception for you". I said as I rushed towards him with my lightsaber. As I was heading towards him as fast as I could I saw him smiling as his eyes glowed red and beams shot out of them towards me. If my spider sense hadn't warned me of the danger before his eyes had even turned red, I would have been in danger, but thankfully I had avoided the blast in the last second. 

When I was close enough to the kid I raised my lightsaber and began to slash away at him, only to see him dodge every attack as he laughed and looked at me with crazed eyes. Raising my other hand I began to blast him with energy pulses meant to kill as I kept slashing away with my other hand that held the lightsaber. One of the blast's had landed, but it did not kill like it was supposed to. 

My spider sense warned me of another attack, but the kid was too fast this time for me to react even with the warning. His hand pierced my chest and came out through my back as it held me close to him.

Having no way to move as he had quickly wrapped his body around mine to subdue my arms, he used his eye beams and burned part of lower jaw and neck off before flying me up to the sky and then plunging down towards earth with his arm still through my chest and his other limbs wrapped around my arms.  If this continued, I could quite possibly die. It was the first real danger I had been in and I was at a loss on how to deal with it. 

Turning my head I looked down to see that the ground was getting closer by the second. After thinking a second I realized I wasn't the only one not able to move well in this situation and so I built up a huge wad of acidic webbing in my mouth before spitting it out on his face. It didn't seem to burn his flesh like the last guy I had spat it out at, but it did block his eyes for now.

Seeing a red glow start to shine behind the webbing, I repeatedly head butted him as hard as I could before he could see my movements again and avoid the blows. My headbutts did close to nothing and his red beams shot through the webbing and tore through my face once again after my lower jaw and neck had just fully healed. This time the beams had also tore through a bit of my brain and skull making me temporarily mentally handicap as we hit the ground at great speed. 

After the piece of my brain regrew, my mind fog cleared, I looked down at my body and saw that I was missing quite a lot of myself. The kid had been pulling off parts of my body like I was an ant as I had been out of it. Looking around I saw a number of limbs, organs, and chunks of flesh he had torn off of me piled up. 

Realizing I had lost this fight, I decided to retreat for now. "I'll be back to kill you later brat". I said as I opened a portal beneath my body and fell through to a random universe. My mind was still a bit too fogged to set a clear destination. I could only hope that the next world I traveled to was kinder to me than this one. Having long ago absorbed the code wall technology, I made sure that he could not follow me to the next universe even if he wanted to. 

It was my first real defeat and I was full of shame, but with shame also came a stronger determination to speed up my quest for power.
