DYLAN

As I sit in my cabin, engaged in yet another interview with the 8th candidate this morning, I find myself still searching for that elusive individual who possesses the ideal qualities for this position. Despite my hopes, each candidate thus far has fallen short in one aspect or another. Whether they can engage in meaningful conversation or their lack of professionalism, it seems there's always something missing.

The process becomes increasingly frustrating as I realize that the perfect candidate may not exist, or at least hasn't crossed my path yet. However, I remain determined to find someone who not only meets the necessary qualifications but also embodies the values and demeanour we seek in our team members.

In the meantime, I continue these interviews with a sense of perseverance, hoping that among the remaining candidates, there might be one who stands out as a true fit for the role. It's a challenging task, but I remain committed to finding the best possible candidate to fill this important position.

James was standing at my side to help the candidates talk around the interview and to ask them about different aspects relating to the position

As another girl strolled in, I casually invited her to grab a seat. As she made her way over, I couldn't help but notice her slightly off-kilter body language. She nearly lost her balance on her heel, letting out a sheepish apology for her clumsiness as she settled into the chair.

As I began to ask her questions, I noticed her demeanour shifting. She seemed distracted, her gaze wandering, fingers tapping nervously, and laughter escaping intermittently. Despite my efforts to engage her, it felt like our interaction was veering off track, and I couldn't shake off the growing sense of frustration. It became evident that the conversation was becoming less productive and more of a time sink.

In such moments, it's natural to feel a twinge of annoyance creeping in. After all, time is precious, and it's frustrating when it feels like it's being wasted. However, instead of allowing annoyance to simmer, I reminded myself of the importance of understanding her perspective. Perhaps there were underlying reasons for her behaviour—a looming deadline, personal worries, or simply a mismatch in communication styles.

í started getting annoyed and scoffed and glared at that girl. I raised my eyebrow and sternly said '' you can leave now''. a wave of sadness washed over her face as she looked and James and he nodded to assure her that she had to go now

As I gathered the paperwork and handed it to James with a slight nod, I couldn't shake off the frustration brewing within me. It seemed like each candidate brought their own set of distractions, making it difficult to conduct a productive interview. Standing up, I took a deep breath, attempting to calm my nerves as James escorted the latest candidate out of my office.

As James returned, his understanding demeanour was evident. "It's getting more frustrating, isn't it?" he remarked empathetically, pouring a glass of water for me, which I declined with a subtle shake of my head.

"Yeah," I responded with a heavy sigh, acknowledging the growing frustration. "I just want to get through this last interview and call it a day."

James nodded in understanding. "Of course, boss," he replied dutifully, returning to the list of candidates. "The next one is another woman named Joane Andrews. She's not local; she's from Maples, and her profile seems more professional compared to the others. Would you like to take a look?"

I reached out and took the tablet from James, scanning through Joane Andrews' information. "Hmm, okay. Send her in," I instructed, albeit with a hint of scepticism. "But you know, James, words on a tablet don't always capture a person's true abilities. All these candidates may have impressive qualifications, but their personalities and demeanour matter in the end."

I couldn't help but reflect on the nervousness and unease displayed by previous candidates during their interviews. It was a reminder that assessing a candidate's suitability extended beyond their qualifications; it required a keen understanding of their character and how they would fit within the team.

'' yes you are right I'll send her in now'' he said before leaving.

Leaning back into my chair, I closed my eyes for a moment, allowing the weight of the day to settle. The room fell into a brief silence, offering a much-needed reprieve from the whirlwind of interviews and interactions.

With my eyes shut, I took a deep breath, letting the air fill my lungs and then slowly exhaling, releasing any lingering tension. It was a momentary escape from the demands of the day, a chance to regather my thoughts and focus on the task at hand.

The knock at the door jolted me back to attention, and I quickly straightened up in my seat, ready to greet the next candidate. As the door opened, a woman entered with a confident stride, her posture straight and shoulders squared. A sense of relief washed over me as I noted her composed demeanour—a stark contrast to the nervous energy of previous candidates. James returned and stood beside me, a silent but reassuring presence.

I gestured for the woman to take a seat, offering a polite smile in return for her own. It was a refreshing change to see someone exuding confidence and professionalism from the moment they entered the room. As she settled into the chair, I couldn't help but feel a glimmer of optimism for this interview. It seemed that finally, I had encountered a candidate who might be the right fit for the role.

With a renewed sense of enthusiasm, I began the interview, eager to delve deeper into her qualifications and assess her suitability for the position. This encounter promised to be a more productive and promising exchange compared to the morning's earlier interaction.

'' So Miss Andrews you have graduated from Ataway Milwood High is that correct ?'' James asked her while looking at his tablet.

'' Yes that's true sir'' he said politely and I listened to her answers.

'' Miss Andrews can u explain why you want us to choose you for this position, what makes u so special for this position'' James asked her while my eyes fixed on her

Well, sir," she began, her voice steady and composed, "I believe my combination of academic achievements and practical experience sets me apart. During my time at Ataway Milwood High, I not only excelled academically but also actively participated in extracurricular activities, honing my leadership and teamwork skills."

Her answer was well-articulated and focused, highlighting her strengths and how they aligned with the requirements of the position. I couldn't help but nod in approval, impressed by her self-assuredness and clarity of purpose.

As the conversation progressed, she remained engaged, eager to tell us more about her qualifications and how she envisioned contributing to our team. It was becoming increasingly evident that she had the potential to be a valuable asset, and I looked forward to exploring this further throughout the interview.

As the interview progressed, I found myself increasingly satisfied with Miss Andrews's responses. Her confidence, professionalism, and alignment with the role's requirements reassured me of her suitability for the position. Midway through the conversation, I decided to bring it to a close, expressing gratitude to Miss Andrews for her time and participation.

"Thank you, Miss Andrews," I said, offering her a slight nod. "You can step outside and await our decision."

James escorted her out of my office, and I took a moment to gather my thoughts. It was clear to me that she was the right choice for the position, and I wasted no time in informing James of my decision. With a sense of relief washing over me, I instructed him to inform Miss Andrews that she would start the following day.

James nodded in acknowledgement and left to deliver the news, leaving me alone in my office. As I leaned back in my chair, a sense of satisfaction enveloped me. The day's task was finally complete, and I could now look forward to wrapping up and heading home.

As I stepped outside, I was met by a waiting car and its attentive driver. Without saying anything, I made my way to the vehicle, and the door kindly opened for me. Sliding into the backseat, I settled in for the ride home, the day's events still fresh in my thoughts.

As the car moved away from the hinder, I thought about the day's events, including the interviews, decisions, and duties that were ahead. Despite the difficulties, there was a sense of achievement in knowing that progress had been achieved. Leaning back in my seat, I gave myself a moment of peaceful reflection before the car brought me away from my office for the day.
