“So the High King-“ Vajra looked at Lady Dorwenna who nodded.

“When the High Queen passed the bond was parted but it still lives in his High Majesty.” Lady Dorwenna’s voice was sad and careful. “That is usually the case if one bonded partner dies, half the bond remains, forever seeking the other half of itself.”

Well, that was both sad and horrifying. Vajra looked down at his bonded, at the other half of himself and tried to imagine living without her. It didn’t come easy and the picture it painted was not pleasant to look at. He would never want or need another.

She reached up and touched his face. “Do not borrow trouble, my love. Neither of us will die and we will have many years together before the specter of death is one, we need to worry about.”
