“As you say- father.” Ardala chanced the word and was startled to find herself pulled into a tight hug.
“Oh, my darling.” There was a held back sob in the voice of the High King of Faerie. “I never thought to see this day, but you’ve come back to me, and I have never been so happy.” He held her for a moment before setting her back and looking at her. “You have your mother’s height and beauty, and I am so pleased to see it again.”
“Mama’s gone, isn’t she?” Ardala said, hit by a pain she’d never experienced before. “You’ve been alone for all these years.”
“I am not alone now, and we will focus on that.” Her father lead her out of the windowless office with a nod to Lord Ren. They traveled the same path that Ardala had traveled to get there, but the man walking beside her was practically floating and there were fae dropping to their knees as they passed.
