His name was Sheng Nie. He was just an average man at the age of twenty-seven who had three daughters and two sons. He lived in a village with fifty-seven other people far away from wild creatures they called beasts.
One day disaster enveloped the village due to a trap that was set up by beasts with similar intelligence to humans. It all started when he went hunting with his two sons that were around ten years old. When they were chasing after a wounded boar, his second son had tripped on a rock.
Because they hadn't eaten well for days, Sheng Nie had to continue chasing after it. He told his eldest son to watch over his younger brother while he would continue chasing it. When he went back with the dead boar to get his sons, they weren't there anymore.
Filled with worry, he dropped the boar before he ran in many directions while shouting the name of his sons. The sun was already setting, and he still couldn't find his sons. When the edge of the sun was the only thing left, he decided to return home. The boar wasn't where he had dropped it anymore when he passed the area. Still, he didn't care. He was in despair of losing his sons, and had lost his will to survive.
'What would life be even worth if we're missing two dear members of our family.' He thought in despair as he crouched down at the last area his sons were. He touched the grass as he began sobbing, but stopped when he heard someone walking behind him.
"Father?" The voice of a child was heard.
Sheng Nie turned around in anticipation, and was glad when he saw that his son was still alive. Within the feelings of overjoy there was also concern because the eldest son was missing. Terrified, he asked his blood covered son where his brother was.
"I don't know" His son answered in the most monotone way he had ever heard. It was already late, so he put his worries away and told his son to hurry with him. He was clueless what had happened, but he would think about it after he had returned home. It was dangerous at night after all, especially when his son was covered with blood. There could be beasts or wolfs that might get attracted to the smell of blood.
When they had returned to the village, Sheng Nie quickly washed off the blood on his son under a stream of water. His wife cried the moment she was told about the tragedy, and couldn't stop thinking what could have happened to their two sons. Their youngest son kept saying that he didn't know anything, which weirded them out because it didn't make any sense. They tried being optimistic about their eldest son's survival, since their youngest son didn't know anything. With false hope, they thought of searching him the next day before they were able to fall sleep due to their extreme fatigue.
Sheng Nie woke up in the middle of the night due the muffled screams beside him. When he looked to his left to see what the source of such noise was, he found his son chewing on his wife's neck while holding her mouth closed. In shock he backed away, but when realization kicked in, he got out of his state of shock and kicked the cannibal's head.
The boy was flung away by the kick, and hit himself on a pillar. He shrieked after he stood back up, and looked at Sheng Nie with a ton of hatred. Sheng Nie looked at the boy who was no longer his son nor a human, with the same hatred. He shot another leg towards the monster, kicking its head. He stood up to get into a better position, and stumped the monster's head until its face had ruptured like a melon.
An insect like creature came crawling out of its ears, and Sheng Nie who had an idea of what it was, stumped his feet at it as well. He turned it into munch out of anger for it killing his sons and wife in the most despicable way.
When he had calmed down after having his revenge, he remembered his three daughters who sleeps together with their brothers. Not wanting to accept that his daughters died as well, he rushed to their room with a torch in search for them. There weren't any corpses of them in sight, but what he saw was worse. His daughters weren't able to die a peaceful death as well, as they were taken over by the insects. The three little girls ran around, giggling. They stopped before him, as they uttered, "Come and join us dad! Mommy is waiting!"
Shung Nie's body trembled, and a tear drop could be seen falling from his face. He yelled out in pain as he swung the torch on his hands at the three monsters their head. He continued slamming the head until the insects were dead, and got out of his house to warn the others of the dangers within the area.
When he got out, the village was abnormally silent. He knew that it wasn't because of everyone sleeping, but because it was already too late. Corpses lay on the ground and the smell of blood was very strong. A corpse near him suddenly bit his leg, and what followed after were other corpses waking up too to go after him. He kicked away the corpse that was trying to chew his leg, and ran as fast as he could to survive. He didn't want to die after witnessing his family's death, but survive so he could warn others to prevent the same thing.
The living corpses ran after him, each with a different speed. The faster ones were able to lung at him, causing him to fall to the ground. He fought them off with the torch in a one or two versus one fight, and had to fight continuously because other living corpses would be near after each fight.
The sun was about to rise. He was hanging onto his life after killing more than fifteen enemies, and was only walking further because the endless regret and anger that he was feeling. He wanted to kill every single one of those insects. He wanted revenge.
He kept following that feeling of anger and hate, and after walking for miles, which shouldn't have been possible, he stumbled upon a hill with eight swords stabbed from the bottom till the peak. The feeling had gotten stronger all of a sudden, and although there was a heavy pressure on his damaged body, he kept on moving towards the foreign object, unrelenting. When he had arrived in front of the foreign object that was stabbed at the bottom of the hill, he followed the feeling and pulled it out.
Within a millisecond, a surge of power and knowledge filled his soul and body, changing his fate.
