Getting used to this world

Xin Feng's body felt strange. It felt as if he couldn't move, similar to having sleep paralysis. Not being able to move, he tried remembering what he had done last for him to be in such a state…

'Right… I got hit by that crazy attack. I must be injured right now, hence my inability to move…'

After what seemed to be a few seconds, he was finally able to open his eyes to scan his surroundings. When he opened his eyes, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. He was laying on a bed, in a modern hospital from earth. A few tears dropped from his eyes, as he thought, 'I… I was in a coma?'

'It… Was it all a dream?'

Thinking such a possibility and believing that it's true with all the present evidence in front of him, Xin Feng smiled happily, as he began touching his face in credibility, still at a disbelief that everything around him felt and looked real.

Happy and excited, he removed the feeding tubes from his body, before he stepped out of the bed, only to fall face flat to the ground. His head never hit the floor however, as it went through air instead of concrete for some reason.

What happened is that he instead of falling, he rose up from water to touch a cool breeze of air. Xin Feng was currently standing in a shallow pond that's in the center of an enormous flat island. There were many islands similar to the one he was on. They were each in a different height and distance above him with their own unique aspects.

Visible wind swirls that looked as if they kept the island afloat. Rivers and streams of water that fell from a higher to a lower island. Streams of water that floated near the islands thanks to the wind currents. It was truly a magnificent sight.

Above the floating lands, far away, lay spheres of different colored flames. Like stars, they were a spectacle within the dark void.

From different islands descended more than a dozen of different winged beings to the furthest island thanks to the aid of the winds. That island was the one with an owner ruling every element. That island, was the very island which created a pulling force similar to gravity, for the things above itself. That island, was the island in which Xin Feng was currently standing on.

The winged beings gathered in front of Xin Feng, all with a look of greed.

"THOU DARES!!" A hoarse voice sounded from every direction, as it confused Xin Feng's view of reality. All his senses turned blank, before he found himself again in another place. The place was barren and cold, filled with snow and ice sculptures of pine trees.

The only lighting available for him were auroras that were shining dimly in the sky. The cold and strong wind felt too real for him, and because he had become a normal human for some reason, he felt that he  might die at any second.

Walking forward with great effort, it didn't take long before he spotted something not to far from him that looked like a portal. Seeing this, his pace started increasing, as a shimmer of hope was warming up his body.

The portal disappeared upon his arrival, before the ground began shaking. Living pine trees grew from the ground in an instant, and when they had fully grown, two of them leapt at his body. The trees were ice-white, and were able to walk thanks to their strong roots. Upon touch, it froze Xin Feng on the area that it came in contact with.

Xin Feng kicked away the two tiny icy trees immediately that were clinging onto his legs with small vines that came out of their trunk. There were three in total, hence why he backed away from the two in an instant to search for the third one.

As he was searching, he felt a weird sensation around his neck. The sensation quickly worsened, as he felt as if something was stuck between his throat. Catching for breath, he held his neck in pain. As he held his neck, he surprisingly felt cold vines wrapped around his neck. Having found the threat, he grabbed it and teared it into pieces. He quickly looked behind him, and saw the elongated vines coming from a small icy-blue pine tree sculpture a few meters away.

"You sneaky bastard!" He complained, as he grabbed the bundle of vines of it. It was his weapon against them.

The sculpture was used as a flail against the two trees and itself. He was like a brush-cutter that used string to cut grass. He spun the sculpture, destroying the two and itself simultaneously. They were ice creatures after all, which meant that they would crack into pieces when the force that is used against them is strong enough.

Xin Feng had used up all his adrenaline to fight the small creatures in the cold night. He had nothing but a patient gown from his first reality. The direct hits of the freezing breezes made him feel fatigued and sleepy. He was trying to stay awake, as he didn't want to die before he got summoned to a new reality.

After he held the pain of the burning cold for a few more seconds, he finally felt his surroundings turning warm. It was something worth celebrating for him, for he felt as if he had entered a Hawaiian paradise. The soothing warm turned to hell real fast though, as the snow had fully melted and the area became an oven. Trees that were sculptures turned into torches, and grass that were green as life became nothing but ash above the melted earth. Only a radius of five meters was left solid for him to stand on, as everything around it turned to lava.

An arm that slowly melted till its bones were only visible, rose through the lava to grab onto the platform Xin Feng was standing on. The unknown enemy lifted itself up, giving Xin Feng the opportunity to see its leftover skin. Xin Feng had no way to fight the guy since he didn't have any weapons, so he quickly took the opportunity to kick the soon to be skeleton on its skull to push it back to the lava.

"Ah!" Xin Feng screamed out in extreme pain, due to his foot getting burned from the hot temperature of the skull. He fell to the ground, unable to support himself through all the pain on his foot. The enemy which had completely become a skeleton, tried climbing up again. Xin Feng who didn't want to take any chances against the skeleton, used his only healthy foot to push away the hand that was clinging onto the last piece of land.

"God Dammit!"

The skeleton didn't want to listen to Xin Feng's complaints, and soon tried climbing up again. This time, Xin Feng used his knee while going through all the pain that came with it and after it. He kept repeating this process of using all parts of his limbs until he was only left with his right forearm.

The skeleton had fully melted and Xin Feng had survived another deadly battle…
