A Hero's Past

When I was small I never imagined myself being a hero, all that I would think about was what I could spend my money on and how to make my mum less annoying and judgemental but then I realized that it would never be possible

(Sorry Mum).

My life was as simple as it gets except for my dad leaving from our home town to explore the world's greatest treasures or something nerdy like that, my mom never really talked about him much because he decided this on his own and left without telling us but left a note saying:

"SORRY FOR LEAVING THIS SOON SERENA, NATHANIEL BUT I CAN'T MISS ON THIS OPPORTUNITY TO SEE WHAT THE WORLD CAN OFFER:

SERENA PLS TAKE CARE OF OUR LITTLE NAT I CAN TELL THAT IS SOMETHING SPECIAL HIM ABOUT I DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS BUT I KNOW THAT IT WILL HELP HIM GROW INTO THE MAN THAT WE WANT HIM TO BE

NAT DON'T MAKE YOUR MOTHER WORRY TOO MUCH

STAY SAFE AND STRONG

FROM YOUR LOVING HUSBAND AND FATHER

GRAHAM JONES"

I still didn't understand what he meant by me having something special but all that I could think about was why his adventures were more important than us his Own and Only Family.

A few years had passed since that and my father was still out in his nerdy quests as my mom always said, at this point i didn't really have a reason to question him anymore but to just leave it and move on.

One day my mom asked me to go and get some vegetables from the market I went even tho I wasn't in the mood for anything, I got the money put my shoes run out to the front of my house, as I was standing out I could hear someone calling my name, it was my weird friend Nina:

"HELLO NJ WHAT YOU DOING OUTSIDE?

THE ONLY REASON I WOULD SEE U COMING OUT OF YOUR HOUSE IS IF YOU LOOKING FOR GIRLFRIEND"

"Ha ha very Funny NINI but that's not today's reason"

"OOOOH IS IT TO FIND A BOYFRIEND HUHH"

"Omg can you just quit it... My mom asked me to do some shopping that's all"

*OHH RIGHT RIGHT (IT'S DEFINITELY A BOYFRIEND)*

"Anyways got to hurry before my mom has one of her hissy fits"

"OK SEE YA LATER"

That Nina she has such a weird personality but I was grateful for that because she's the only person that didn't see me as a fool everyone else did, all my life people always looked at me as if I was a cockroach something thing that they wanted to kill and step on, it really affected me at the point that even to school I couldn't go to,

But then as I was about to leave school for good she came up to me and asked me if I was ok, she made me feel better about myself and helped to overcome my anxiety and emotions that I was feeling at the time

As I was walking to the market I noticed the the streets were much more quieter than usual but I didn't really think about at that point ,that was a mistake that I won't be able to take back

The market was the only place available for resources and food since the government decided to forget about our little town and started focusing on other bigger cities it really annoying but I knew that I could do a single thing as a commoner

As I was on my way to the front door of the market I hard a faint voice saying

"Watch Out For The Evil Ones"

I turned around, tried to look for someone or something nearby but nothing

The Moment I took the next few steps there it was again that same faint voice:

"Watch Out For The Ones Who Will Turn This Place Red"

I was confused but I knew deep down that something wasn't right why would the streets be empty at this time of day I should have been attentive the moment I realized but as a teen I was still so naive.

Then it all started...
