Chapter 17: "Hey, are you there?"

"Woah, this is too much!" exclaimed Lily in a hushed voice as they walked ahead.

The group snapped out of their daze and was taken aback by the scene in front of them. They had just stepped into the grand hall of Diohn Club, which was opulent and luxurious. The carpet seemed to stretch on endlessly, and the spiralling staircase wound its way down from the top floor, with a twenty-meter Italian crystal chandelier suspended from above, dazzling the eyes with its brilliance.

Two rows of greeting staff politely asked if they had made a reservation, and a waiter approached them, asking softly, "Do you have a room reserved in advance, guests?"

Diana took out the black card that the manager had given her and showed it to the waiter. "No, if there are any vacant rooms on the first floor, just take us to one."

The waiter caught a glimpse of the black card in her hand and was visibly stunned for a moment. He quickly said, "You're a VIP, let me take you to the VIP room on the top floor."

Upon hearing this, Brandon was very excited and forgot about the embarrassing incident that Diana had just caused him. He walked over and exclaimed, "Let's go to the top floor! I heard that there are only a few people in the entire Cloud City who can get in there. It's been rumored to be extraordinary. Let's go check it out!"

He had only hoped to get into the Diohn Club, but he didn't expect an additional surprise. If they could go to the top floor, he would have something to boast about when he got back!

Diana took back the black card and looked at the waiter calmly, saying, "We'll just go to the first floor."

"Diana, are you crazy?" Brandon couldn't believe it and clutched his heart. He was sure she would drive him crazy today!

Maddie couldn't help but persuade, "Diana, since we're here, let's go up to the top floor and take a look. Luke definitely wants to go too. Let's all go together."

Upon hearing this, Diana rolled her eyes inwardly. She had already brought them in, and now they wanted to go to the VIP area? This was the place that John had given her, and she was not going to let these people act recklessly in it. They didn't deserve to go to VIP area!

"Maddie, you don't understand. I want to take things step by step. If we see everything good all at once, what surprises will be left for next time, right?"

"You mean, we can come back again?" Maddie exclaimed in surprise.

Diana nodded, "I definitely will come back."

"But I wouldn't bring you with me, " she thought to herself.

Upon hearing Diana's words, Maddie no longer insisted and the group chose a room on the first floor and walked in. As they entered, they were surprised to find that two sides of the room were made entirely of glass, showcasing various marine creatures as if they had entered an underwater world. Walking through the glass passage, they found themselves in an elegant private room. The group sat on the sofa and took turns taking photos.

Diana, however, had no interest in playing along and walked around the room, looking around before picking up her bag with a cold expression. "I'm going to the restroom," she said, throwing her bag down and walking out the door.

As soon as she was out of sight, Diana's facial expression became uncontrollable. Wow, this is amazing! She had only known John was impressive, but she never imagined he was this impressive! And this impressive place was now hers?! Diana sat on the toilet lid and laughed stupidly for three minutes. After coming back to her senses, she quickly pulled out her phone. She didn't know why, but she suddenly wanted to contact John, wanted to talk to him.

The thought startled Diana when it crossed her mind. In the past, she would never have entertained such an idea. John was the villain in her mind, the monster, the executioner who destroyed her happiness. Shaking her head, Diana took a deep breath. John had gone to New York, and she hadn't contacted him since. Maybe she should give him a call. Holding her phone, she quickly found John's number, but as she was about to dial, she hesitated.

After some consideration, Diana decided to message John on a chat app. She found him and carefully typed, "Hey, are you there?"

The moment she sent the message, she regretted it. No finesse! No skills! When did she become so bad at communicating?

John, who was in New York, was taking a rest. He had always been a light sleeper, and as soon as he heard the notification sound, he opened his eyes and picked up his phone from the bedside table. He thought it might be something urgent from work, but when he opened the chat app, he saw a name he never thought he would see. Diana. He had kept her at the top of his chat list for so many years, but she had never initiated a conversation with him. For a moment, John thought he was still dreaming and seeing things. He opened the chat window and saw the message.

[Little girl: Hey, are you there?]

John reached out and gently rubbed his eyes, trying to figure out what this message meant. The light from the screen fell on his face, softening his usually icy expression. He was about to reply when he saw another message appear.

[Little girl: I've come to Diohn Club, it's very beautiful inside and I really like it!]

The message from Diana made John's fingertips pause. He read it over several times, just to confirm that he wasn't mistaken. When he had given her Diohn Club in the past, she had sneered at it. Now, she says she likes it... John's phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, and he couldn't snap out of his thoughts for a long time.

Meanwhile, Diana waited in the bathroom, biting her finger as she waited for John's reply. Was he busy? Or was the signal bad in the bathroom? Diana shook her phone and searched for a signal in every corner. But wait, the signal was full! Diana's face drooped, revealing a frustrated expression. Just then, her phone made a notification sound. There was a new message! Diana eagerly picked up her phone and saw that it was indeed a message from John.

[John mate: It's good that you like it.]

Diana read the message and couldn't help feeling a twinge of happiness in her heart. She pouted and replied to John's short message which had arrived quite promptly.

[Little girl: Thank you, John. Take good care of yourself there, I'll be waiting for you to come back.]

[John mate: Okay.]

John's reply was brief and to the point.

Diana sighed, "He's still as concise as ever." She was about to respond when she suddenly realized that John was still a patient. Was he resting now? She didn't want to disturb his sleep. "Oh no! What if I wake him up?!" Diana quickly messaged him again.

[Little gIrl: Never mind, John. You should rest now. We'll talk later.]

After sending the message, Diana waited for John's response but received none. She waited for a while, but seeing no reply, she got up and left the restroom. She had been away for a long time, and it was time to go back and spend some quality time with Maddie and the others.

Unbeknownst to her, John in New York was looking at the message she had sent him with a furrowed brow, lost in thought. Why did she suddenly stop talking to him? Was it because his reply was too cold? But he always replied like that to others. Damn it! He should have found some conversation topics earlier!

John was so angry that he almost wanted to hit the bed. Well, he couldn't sleep now.

Meanwhile, Diana, the culprit that made John unsleep, was feeling pleased with herself, thinking that John must have fallen asleep peacefully by now, satisfied with her understanding and thoughtful message.

As Diana happily walked with a spring in her step, a smile appeared on her face. But then she realised that she wasn't going to face John, but Maddie and her group of friends. Diana immediately suppressed her smile and her steps became heavier.

As she walked back to her room, Diana thought about how she had offended those people today. Knowing them well, she was sure that they wouldn't let her off easily. They would definitely start plotting against her when she returned to her room. But Diana wasn't afraid. She wasn't the foolish girl with a brainless mind from her past life. If they wanted to mess with her, they had to be prepared to face her wrath.

Diana thought to herself, "If you really want to take me down, you better be prepared for my counterattack!"
