Back Off, the Best Actor is Mine

In Serene’s past life, she gave up her dream for her beloved—only for him to cheat on her, leaving her with a broken heart and a dead child. Given a second chance, Serene is determined to take revenge on all who wronged her, starting with developing the career that should’ve taken off if it weren’t for her wretched ex-husband. This time, she will be the screenwriter of her own life! When fate pushes her to meet the hunky actor, Damon Wilson, sparks inevitably fly. Together, can she and the prince of the silver screen rise above their enemies? — “You built me back up Serene,” Damon whispered into my ear, his lips grazing down my ear lobe to the nape of my neck. His hand cupped my breast, massaging my past heartbreak away. “Damon, you did it all by yourself,” I uttered, releasing a slight moan as his mouth cascaded down to my chest. “It doesn't matter. All I know is I'm yours, forever.” Back Off, the Best Actor is Mine is created by Bella Gold, an eGlobal Creative Publishing author.

Chapter 8: Lay with Me

*Damon POV*

I lifted Serene’s body as she collapsed in a drunken stupor. I felt a little uncertain if I should pick her up or just act as a support mechanism.

“Oh, come on Damon,” Ann said, rolling her eyes. “You gotta pick her up. She can’t stand on her own.”

My heart said, ‘yes,’ but my brain countered, ‘no.’ The last thing I needed was a scandal being accused of making advances on a drunk woman. Even more so, I didn’t want to risk losing Serene’s trust when she returned back to consciousness. But, I agreed with Ann. Serene needed real support, both physical and emotional.

I lifted her body, light like a waft of fresh air, and held her tenderly in my arms, making sure she didn’t rouse from her sleep. Her head nestled delicately into my chest and her defined legs hung over my left arm.

She was beautiful.

I couldn’t help but stare at her plump lips, still moist from the alcohol, and curved in the slightest smile. Her long eyelashes trembled like a butterfly’s wings.
