Chapter 17: Life-saving button

Kanae only ignored them and looked at the referee Ed. Unexpectedly, just as Ed let out a laugh and was just about to say something, a blinding bright green light surrounded Yi Lu.

Yi Lu had started using his mana to fight. He could not accept the fact that he was defeated by a brat, and that too a female. Even if he had to use his mana and techniques, he would use them to defeat her and regain his pride.

Kanae, who was unfamiliar with mana, felt uncomfortable and her foot lifted from his back.

Her body felt hot and her skin became dry. 'Is this the effect of mana trying to force itself in my body?' thought Kanae, her soft pale skin turning red because of the energy being released.

Before anyone could do anything, Yi Lu had launched an attack on Kanae. Sharp, needle-like structures of mana, approached her at a high speed. They cut through her skin, making her body bleed in many parts. She had somehow managed to escape the ones that had been close to her vital organs.

"Yi Lu, stop immediately! Have you gone mad?! She's just a kid!" yelled Yi Lu's brother, but he was just pushed backward by the group. His foot tangled on a vine. He tripped and fell on his head, making him unconscious.

"Stop it, Yi Lu." Ed spat out, his hands starting to glow a deep blue. Miao cried from the sidelines.

"Wait, wait. Ed." Kanae called out.

"What? This isn't the time to play, Honoured Miss." Ed said with a serious look in his eyes.

"It's fine, it's fine.

A look of amusement showed up on her face, as she wondered how to deal with such a situation. Her pearly dimples made the group fascinated, drawn in by the pink aura she was exuding.

'What? On its own? Are you telling me they're gonna get seduced?'

'Life-saving?? Hah what a joke!'

As expected, Yi Lu's eyes grew a bit darker as he got a whiff of her scent. It was sweet enough to make him go delusional…. Just why did she smell so sweet?

"You h*e, what are you doing to me? Stop your f*cking acts and come to Daddy!"

"Daddy? More like p*ssy."

Her laugh rang out like a sweet bell tolling in the air.

She ran towards Ed and in a clean move, snatched the sword hanging on his waist.

"I'm gonna borrow this for a bit. Sorry Ed." Kanae whispered.

Ed's ears flushed as he took in her alluring scent. He stepped back immediately and nodded, trying to clear his mind.

By this time, Yi Lu had snapped out of it and started another attack. The mana needles approached her at a faster speed.

This time, she deflected most needles with her sword. She managed to twist her hands quickly. Strangely enough, her hands were pretty flexible.

Yi Lu grew more angry and his ugly face turned purple in anger.

"You trash! Take this attack of mine.[Needle Tornado]" He yelled.

A tornado of needles approached Kanae. Ed was panicking, he wanted to stop it, but halted when he saw the look on Kanae's face.

Kanae once again deflected the needles, but to her shock, the needle plunged into the sword, and made it melt.

Both the needles and the sword turned into dust.

Kanae was slightly angry. She had borrowed a weapon only for it to disappear. Having no choice, she grumbled and called out to her system.

'System, open *unknown*.'

<System proceeds to open *unknown*>

<Player White has received a butterfly hairpin.>

Kanae:....

Not wanting to spend any more time on this piece of trash aka her system, she decided to end this.

Before Yi Lu could gather up all his mana, she crept behind him and pierced the sharp hairpin through the right side of his chest. When he cried out in pain and blood flowed from his wound, Kanae had a sadistic smile on her face. Her face looked even more beautiful than before, but it had a certain sinister look that she didn't usually have.

The audience shivered on seeing this gruesome scene. The smell of someone pissing their pants became evident.

"That's enough, Honoured Miss." Ed said gruffly. His expression wasn't one of surprise.

It was one of admiration and respect. This hadn't been his first time seeing someone fight without mana, but it was his first time seeing someone succeed in doing so.

Kanae snapped out of her bloodlust. Her hazy blue eyes focused on Ed.

"Don't worry. I didn't kill him. Only wounded him in the right side of his chest. But next time, he won't get off so easily." A cute smirk made her lips arch up.

Yi Lu was lying unconscious on the hard ground. Ed ended the match by declaring Kanae as the victor.

Kanae went to search Yi Lu's brother, only to see him unconscious.

'These mob characters are seriously too dangerous.' Kanae thought, shaking her head.

She told the group to heed to Yi Lu's injuries. They had a healer with them. He offered to heal Kanae' s wounds, but Kanae refused. She didn't want anyone to see her injured body.

"Honoured Miss, you were so cool!!" Miao's eyes were sparkling as she wiped off the blood with a wet towel.

'Man, I'm tired. Looks like I have to start practising again.' grumbled Kanae.

<System recommends physical lab->

'I KNOW DAMMIT.'

Ed was weirdly quiet.

Kanae raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing, Honoured Miss. It's just… Seeing you fight made me realise that I'm lacking in many ways."

He sounded dejected.

Kanae was silent for a while.

"Don't sulk over this. I have too much experience in fighting people. You have just started out, and you will become better in time."

Miao hurriedly backed her up, "She's right, Ed. You're amazing already, don't be sad!"

Ed just nodded.

Kanae bent down and plucked up the precious treasure she had fought over. Maca root! With this, she could finally be at peace.

Wait—

"Hey."

The group which was circled around Yi Lu, looked over at her with slight fear.

"You remember the deal, right? So hand me over all your money."

"But-"

"T-The deal was made by Yi Lu, not us. Why should we give you money?"
