The archipelago of Cristalmar is within the territory of the great kingdom of Kiaasy.

That is the place where I am at present and the one that will see me release my last breath of life.

A pain that I had not felt in all my years on the battlefield ran through me at the same time that a sepulchral coldness rose from the tips of my toes.

The hand I held over my stomach was losing strength, blood was leaking from the edge of my mouth, and the hundreds of wounds on my body.

It was a condition I knew all too well, one I had seen thousands of times and of which I was the main actor so many times I had lost count.

Death.

I knew all along that this moment would come, that it was something I would undoubtedly have to face.

But now that I was finally facing it, to say I was afraid was an understatement.

I shook my head as best I could and surveyed my surroundings.

Everything was devastated, thousands of corpses were spreading throughout the valley on the island, and fire, as well as thousands of other spells, were still consuming the few houses and structures that were left standing.

Watching the battlefield my vision became more and more blurred, as hundreds of memories flooded me, each one of them reminding me of the dreadful shitty life I had led.

My vision stopped blurring and went dark, my mind stopped flooding me with memories and got stuck on one.

-What would you do if you saw the chance to live again? The voice of one of my war buddies echoed like an angel's call in my head.

-Fight. I answered unconsciously as I watched my world plunged into total darkness.

¨¨¨ ¨¨¨¨ ¨¨¨

Mmm, where am I?

My question echoed like a scream in the labyrinths within this immense darkness.

There was nothing but black and the very echo of my thoughts.

I tried to search through my memories, but nothing had happened after I saw my eyes while lying on the battlefield floor.

So after all...

I am dead.

At that moment I felt my stomach churn and deep sadness and regret flooded my head.

A fear that I had not felt in all the years at war ran through me from head to toe, like a chill that heralded the end of my life.

I didn't even understand how I could experience all this, I couldn't feel my body, and yet I knew I was crying.

The very idea that this was what death was like completely twisted all the ideas I had in my entire life.

By the time my feelings subsided, or whatever I was feeling before I realized that the darkness was disappearing.

Or maybe I was the one moving towards the white light, I didn't know for sure, but what was clear to me was that this light would be the one that would decide my future.

The fear of which I did not understand the reason became more incarnate in me and forced me to close my eyes, surrendering myself completely to the sensation of falling.

-Haa Haa. It's... ------, love.

A voice in a language almost unintelligible to me echoed in my head as the feeling of falling disappeared and new sensations flooded me.

The first sensation was warm, like the blood of that soldier who underestimated you running down your hands.

And when my eyes opened, almost as if programmed to do so, the first thing I saw was a woman staring at me with love and a man looking at us with pity, concern and at the same time showing the same love as the woman.

-Gaah!

I tried to say something, but only a small moan escaped from my mouth, which like my whole body seemed not to obey me.

After what seemed like an eternity, I was finally able to move my neck and what I found was a small, white, naked body being easily carried in the woman's weak arms.

"Shit."

I thought as I returned my gaze to the eyes as red as a pool of blood of the woman, who smiled as if she was reading my thoughts.
