PATRIC POV:
After the Ayden kid had left, I pulled Elsa to the side.
-How did you meet that Ayden kid?
-When you and mom were out on the party and I was the only one behind the counter, he came here alone and booked a room for two nights.
-Where there anyone with him.
-No, I asked him where his parents were, but he said that he can't go home for five years, I wonder why that's the case.
It was indeed strange it sounds like a tradition after all the kid doesn't seem sad about it. Like he knew about it and knew that he could return home soon. Maybe this is for him to learn about life and survive on his own. But he was still too dangerous to let Elsa play with him alone.
-Elsa, I bet that Ayden is sad that he can't visit his parents, so could you leave him alone for a bit?
-But...But dad.
-Please?
-Okay dad.
-Good girl.
I need to speak to my wife about this.
-Oh, that small black haired kid, yeah I saw him this morning.
-What did he do?
-He came down when the sun was already high and came to eat, he acted and looked so hungry that I gave him one meal for free, after that he left and gave me 2 silver coins meaning that he gave me 5 bronze coin tip.
He seemed to act like a normal kid, but that pressure and how he had no hesitation when he slashed that guy's arm is too strange. After I know more about him, I can let Elsa play with him again, if he is safe enough.
AYDEN POV:
It's the last day before tournament. What should I to today? I already sold the corpse, got clothes and a weapon with a sheath. I felt hungry so I just pushed the thought after lunch.
I walked downstairs and sat down behind an empty table. I waited for the woman to show up, but it seemed like it was a busy morning, the whole dining room was full. Elsa and who seemed like her mom were taking orders like crazy. Finally, the mom got to my table.
-What would you want?
-Pumpkin soup, soft bread, and water.
-Coming right up.
Food luckily came as fast as yesterday. While eating I tried to think about what to do today. Should I train?
I went to the adventurers' guild and found Clare; I walked up to her.
-Hello
She looked down and answered me.
-Hi, how can I help you today.
-Is there a training room I can use?
-Yes, but not here, you need to turn right when leaving the guild and the walk for about 20 meters and it's there.
-Okay and can I have a temporary adventurers' pass?
-Yeah sure, for what.
-Does it matter?
-I suppose not.
She wrote down a paper that had my name, Clare's name and signature and my basic information. On top right it said that I was F rank.
I nodded in satisfaction and thanked her.
I started to head towards the training area. It was like I imagined it to be, there was a wooden gate to get in. There were few people and full of wooden weapons, training dummies and targets for archers.
I took a wooden sword and started to practice my second part of my sword style.
(*(
After few hours third dummy broke and I decided to leave, the place was already empty, I was the only one left.
Next, I wanted to find a library, if there was one. I tried to ask some people, but they didn't even notice me. Should I slash their ankles, so they are on the same height as me?
Finally, someone told me where it was, he was kind of familiar looking? He had a guard armor and I know that I've met him before, but where? Well, no matter let's just go.
Library was near the training ground but because I went so far away to look for it, it took some time to walk back.
I walked inside, it was a lot fancier than I thought it would be. It was after all a public library, I would understand if it was only for nobles, but this was also for the commoners. Is there an entrance fee? I hope not.
Then I saw something that made me realize why this place was so beautiful. This place was full of low-level spirits. And the one who controlled them, could see anything happening here. But it won't bother me if I'm not planning to steal something.
I started to look for books to read, there were a lot of interesting books. Some told me about history, medicine, alchemy, monsters. But I was there looking for magic books. And I finally found them.
The entire corridor at the end was full of magic books. I started to look for something that could benefit me. Most of the books were about how to awaken your rings. I had not even considered that there would be these many ways. I just did the one that was in one magic instruction book.
I should read one before I get my third ring. Not now, because now I was looking for something else. Books related to thunder magic. Right now, I could only boost my physical abilities, coat my sword in lightning and shoot spears, this meant that in long range fights I would be very weak. I wanted something that could either stall for me to get close or to just win the fight.
I searched for anything thunder related but couldn't find almost anything, there were hundreds of books after all. I finally arrived at the section that seemed like singular elements, there were fire, water... earth...light and thunder!
I found books related to thunder. I picked the one that said:
Tips for better thunder magic.
Book seemed like an interesting read, I took it, walked to a table, and sat down. While I was reading I decided to train my core and started to gather mana and strengthen it.
Time passed quickly, the book was thick so when I finished reading it, it was already late noon. I put the book back, got out and walked to the same sandwich shop. I luckily didn't have to pay for anything at the library.
I paid for the food and went to bed; Elsa didn't want to play with me this time so I went to my room straight away. I again checked my money; I had forty-one gold and 2 silver coins. I would run out of silver tomorrow; I hope there is some kind of cash price there.
I also didn't want to get scouted by too many guilds so I didn't want to show my face. There were also some "bad" guilds, and if I don't join them, they would do something awful to me. So, before I went to the blacksmith, I would have to buy a mask or something.
Well, that's tomorrow's worry, let's go to sleep for now.
