I stand up and walk into the living room. I watch the woman and the man sitting next to her. Gross.

"So?" I ask. "What are you discussing?" The woman sighs and stands up.

"Just so you know, I am completely against this," she begins. I roll my eyes. Great, just what I need. Bad news. She sighs again, then continues as the other officer enters the room with my orange juice. He hands it to me as I listen to the woman closely.

"Originally, I think you should just go to an orphanage. And… personally, I think it should have been that way all along… But, he is your legal guardian, even considering what he's done." She glares at my father who has moved across the room. "He'll be taken into court. I'm hoping he goes to jail, but you may have to… Live with him."

I freeze, orange juice in hand. The man cop takes my wrist and leads me downstairs to my room. He guides me, still frozen, into bed, pries the glass out of my hands. He pulls the covers up to my shoulders, and adjusts my pillows. Then I unfreeze.

"Why are you helping me?" I blurt out. The man stops. Then he sighs.

"Because I never had the chance before." And then he leaves. Just left. I am so confused. But at this time, I don't give a crap. I open my laptop and immediately click to my mail.
